Akon
Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam (born April 16, 1973) (pronounced /ˈeɪkɒn/), better known as Akon, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, businessman, record producer and actor. He rose to prominence in 2004 following the release of "Locked Up", the first single from his debut album Trouble.
He has since founded two successful record labels, Konvict Muzik and Kon Live Distribution. His second album, Konvicted received three nominations for the Grammy Awards in two categories, Best Contemporary R&B Album for Konvicted album and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Smack That" and "I Wanna Love You".
He is the first solo artist to hold both the number one and two spots simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 charts twice. Akon has had four songs certified as 3x platinum, three songs certified as 2x platinum, more than ten songs certified as 1x platinum and more than ten songs certified as gold in digital sales. Akon has sung songs in other languages including Tamil, Hindi, and Spanish. He was listed by the Guinness Book of World Records as the #1 selling artist for master ringtones in the world.

Music video
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

SRC Records
SRC Records (Street Records Corporation) was an American record label created by former Loud Records CEO Steve Rifkind. It was a subsidiary of Universal Music Group and was distributed through Republic Records.
Company history
SRC Records was founded by Steve Rifkind in 2002. The same year that he was ousted from his CEO position from Loud Records, he would form the label and sign an exclusive distribution deal with Universal Records. The label was much like Loud Records, a hip hop and R&B label. The first move with the label was signing David Banner, a rapper from Jackson, Mississippi. With Banner as their flagship artist, SRC soared to great heights behind his 2003 debut. The label was instantly hailed as the second-coming of Interscope Records, due to the obvious similarities. The hit single "Like A Pimp," would make the label a household name within the hip hop community. During the year of 2003, the label would hit paydirt after hearing tapes from Senegalese singer, Akon, who they would immediately sign to their label. In 2004, Akon would release his multi-platinum debut album, Trouble. In early 2004, they signed a deal to distribute material from the rap supergroup, Terror Squad. SRC would go on to release all albums from Remy Ma and the group Terror Squad, itself. In the summer of 2004, SRC would become home to the hit single, "Lean Back," by Fat Joe and Remy Ma. After these releases, SRC had established itself among the other heavyweight record labels in hip hop music. In 2005, the label granted Akon his own label Konvict Muzik. The deal brought more artists on to the label and a hit album from Akon.

Universal Records (defunct record label)
Universal Records was a record label owned by Universal Music Group and operated as part of the Universal Motown Republic Group. The label has been dormant since 2005, due to Universal Motown and Universal Republic Records being formed and taking all of the artists from the label.
History
Founded in 1995 as Rising Tide Records, the label would ultimately begin to thrive the following year when its name was changed to Universal Records to complement the branding overhaul of the Universal Studios structure since MCA Inc. was purchased from Matsushita Electric by The Seagram Company Ltd.. The label, which is actually the second incarnation (the first one was a short-lived underground imprint of MCA Records that existed from 1988 to 1989) was created by former Universal Music Group chairman Doug Morris (who now heads Sony Music Entertainment) and Daniel Glass, who became its president.
Universal Records had success in breaking new artists, including the multi-platinum debut of Erykah Badu, Billie Myers, Goldfinger, Akon and the Lost Boyz. Glass formed relationships with independent record labels as Kedar Entertainment and Mojo Records.

Der Absolvent des prestigeträchtigen Berkley College of Music kam durch einen Zufall im Jahr 2007 mit Akon in Kontakt. Er wollte das Gypsy Stokes ihm einen Song für sein neues Album schreiben sollte. Da Gypsy Stokes niemanden fand, der ihm das Demo von „Plenty Mo’“ singen konnte, machte er dies kurzerhand selber. Als Akon das Demo hörte wollte er seinen Ohren nicht trauen und glauben dass der Sänger Gypsy sei. Also rief er Gypsy an und sagte ihm er solle den Song „Plenty Mo’“ behalten und für sein erstes Album benutzen und machte Gypsy Stokes zu einem „Konvict Muzik“ Künstler!
Joce’n’Reza:
Wahl-Münchner mit angolanischen und persischen Wurzeln und Musik im Blut das ständig kocht und mehr will! Seit Schulzeiten Freunde, bestand sofort eine Verbindung zwischen den beiden, die sich auch musikalisch unauslöschlich widerspiegelte. Beeinflusst von Michael Jackson, Usher, Bobby Brown und ähnlichen Künstlern, begannen Joce’n’Reza bereits sehr früh zu singen und zu tanzen und brachten so ihre ganze Leidenschaft und Liebe zu Musik zum Ausdruck, die sich über die Jahre immer mehr vertiefte. During COP21 we had an opportunity to speak to AKON about his AKON Lighting Africa initiative and his believe in solar and clean energies.
Akon is an American-Senegalese RnB singer and producer. Brought up in a family of musicians, he spent his early childhood in Senegal before leaving at the age of seven to live in the USA in Union City, New Jersey.
A Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum selling artist, producer, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Akon is one of the world most influential voices in music today. In addition to having two multi-platinum albums, 27 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and over 150 guest appearances with artists such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Eminem and Gwen Stefani, Akon is the first artist to accomplish the feat of holding both the number one and two spots simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 charts twice.
The son of two Senegalese natives, Akon was born Aliaune Badara Thiam, in St. Louis and raised in Senegal, West Africa until age 7. His father, Mor Thiam, a well-respected Senegalese percussionist and jazz musician, and mother, Kiné, a renowned African singer, dancer and humanitarian, helped to foster a general love of the arts in Akon as well as a deep appreciation of his heritage and homeland. Their influences were truly ingrained within Akon and fuelled his desire to create a better future for Africa, beginning with empowering its youth.

Akon stopped by to talk with VladTV about his light up Africa Project, how he used to live without electricity, and how the politics of starting his project were extremely tricky. Akon let us know that he grew up in Senegal a small country on the West coast of Africa. Akon grew up without electricity and running water, and when it came time to eat, cook, or wash he had to use the same water from a running water well for everything. "When I came to the United States, and [saw] the projects or what they claimed to be projects, Vlad I thought they was living in luxury, compared to what poverty is back home..." Akon explained that the US citizens have it a lot better than others around the world.
So what led to Akon lighting up Africa? His grandmother was the main inspiration. He explained she never moved from her hometown and still lived without electricity. "Every time I would come, I would try to upgrade her, but she would never take it... one day I said ma I'm not coming to visit you anymore... you have to at least let me put electricity in the house. Come to find out the grid was so far out; I don't care how much money I had there was no way I could bring electricity to her." That's when he said something had to be done, not just for his grandmother but for everyone in the rural area living without power. "Without electricity, you can't even begin to develop a country, let alone your own home."
Akon got started by partnering with a some of his Billionaire friends he made along his career, and he wanted to build power plants in the five major areas of Africa so the countries could share the plants, but as he got his investors together, he began running into the politics. "I started to realize how deep it was cause this is the type of business that starts real wars, the politics was little heavier than I expected..."Akon explained it was too complicated for him to be dealing with, so while searching for another solution, he came across Solar Energy. "So I went to China, met up with some friends out there, some manufacturers, and aligned myself with one of the biggest companies in China, that's own by the Chinese Government, that manufactures Solar..." Akon learned a lot while doing this project, like how there was a significant tax on solar products due to George. W Bush. "He did it because his main agenda was in oil, he needed the oil to keep burning right, so anything renewable he wanted to keep away because if effected the money." Akon took advantage of all of the unused solar products, and the Chinese manufacturers gave him a Billion dollar credit line to start his project. Akon's project is now in 15 countries, and he's provided almost 16 million people in Africa with power, and energy.

ABOUT THE CLIENT: The biggest difference between the Wynn lineup and, say, that of Hakkasan and Light nightclubs is the addition of live performers. Former Las Vegan Ne-Yo had already announced his Surrender residency, and yesterday's news that rapper Macklemore and producer Ryan Lewis will grace the Surrender and Encore Beach Club stages together this year comes a couple of weeks after Lewis' separate residency had been made official. Akon will also hit the mic at Surrender, which, with these bookings, distinguishes itself from big-brother club XS across the Wynn/Encore complex.
Also, street/urban artist Alec Monopoly will be doing live art creations for the four hot spots. The New York City-born artist is known for his frequent incorporation of Rich Uncle Pennybags, the mascot of the Monopoly board game. It remains to be seen whether Monopoly's socioeconomic commentary will figure into works he makes in front of Wynn's affluent bottle-service guests. Here's a possible teaser for the year ahead: Monopoly did a series of live art/DJ collaborations last year with Avicii, who returns to XS and Encore Beach Club for 2014.
