JPMorgan has hired Deutsche Bank's Mathew Hocking in equities research to cover gold and other metals.

Hocking is expected to lead coverage of the gold and other metals sector and work with the bank's head of Australian resources, Lyndon Fagan.

Hocking joined JPMorgan from Deutsche Bank, where he worked for the past five years and covered the likes of Newcrest Mining, Northern Star Resources, Western Areas and Syrah Resources.

He's not the first Deutsche analyst to jump to the American bank.

JPMorgan picked up Deutsche's banks analyst Andrew Triggs last month and well regarded health care analyst David Low last year.
