Duncan may refer to:
A lake is an area of variable size filled with water, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake. Lakes lie on land and are not part of the ocean (except for sea lochs in Scotland and Ireland), and therefore are distinct from lagoons, and are also larger and deeper than ponds, though there are no official or scientific definitions. Lakes can be contrasted with rivers or streams, which are usually flowing. However most lakes are fed and drained by rivers and streams.
Natural lakes are generally found in mountainous areas, rift zones, and areas with ongoing glaciation. Other lakes are found in endorheic basins or along the courses of mature rivers. In some parts of the world there are many lakes because of chaotic drainage patterns left over from the last Ice Age. All lakes are temporary over geologic time scales, as they will slowly fill in with sediments or spill out of the basin containing them.
Many lakes are artificial and are constructed for industrial or agricultural use, for hydro-electric power generation or domestic water supply, or for aesthetic or recreational purposes.
Duncan Lake in the West Kootenays, BC, is an amazing quadding area. You can travel north along Duncan Lake for about 40km, then another 40 along the Duncan River, and 40?km after that, where you are supposed reach the valley that turns left towards Butters Lake but we didn't do the last 1/3 of the trip. The valley eventually ends up in Glacier National Park but there are no trails up that way. All of this is done in a straight rift valley that goes north-south all day long. The road is excellent, fast and very quiet. We didn't meet any other riders the whole day. From about the 80 km mark (the left turn bridge we turned around at) you can see the Razor's Edge and Mount Templeman. Oh yeah, carry spare gas...
Canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on Duncan Lake, off of Gunflint Trail near Rockwood Lodge.
The annual trip by our gang to the BWCA. On this trip we visited Gunflint Lake, North, South, Rose and Duncan Lake. Part of the video shows views of Rose Lake from the Border Route Trail and the waterfall next to stairway portage. (an area that we back packed in 1986 and made a wrong turn)
I was out of breath after paddling through the waves/wind on Duncan Lake. We waited a bit out from the portage so we could keep an eye on Al who was struggling in his one man canoe.

I tried to make the most monotonous video possible, and a bunch of apple trees just kind of appeared!
2nd attempt to fly off Lake Tuggeranong, this time with more success. Have replaced the motors and props but still had difficulty tracking into the wind and getting off the water. It was quite windy so the upwind legs of the flight were quite slow. It did however land and taxi quite well. I'll be investigating the power system further and do a few more land-based flights to work out the bugs. Enjoyed it though.

At about 33km on the Duncan Lake Road, you can go up the Howser Canyon FSR, and eventually turn right at the bridge and go up Tea Creek for some amazing panorama views. At the top you can look to the north and see the vertical face of Howser Spire in the Bugaboos.
Join me for a night fishing for Tench on Busbridge Lake. The lake is reputedly haunted by various ghosts and phenomena...Many of the club's members refuse to fish there after dark! Will I be able to stomach a whole night on this spooky venue? Will I catch any ghosts on film? More importantly, will I catch any Tench, or will I pack up and run away before the dawn breaks?
Beautiful mountain high above Duncan Lake, BC. It's about 7400 feet elevation. You can see Duncan Lake, Jumbo Pass, Kootenay Lake, Meadow Mountain, Macbeth Glacier and Mount Templeman near Trout Lake, and more.
