Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts – artworks, expressing the author's imaginative or technical skill, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power. In their most general form these activities include the production of works of art, the criticism of art, the study of the history of art, and the aesthetic dissemination of art.
The oldest form of art are visual arts, which include creation of images or objects in fields including painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media. Architecture is often included as one of the visual arts; however, like the decorative arts, it involves the creation of objects where the practical considerations of use are essential—in a way that they usually are not in a painting, for example. Music, theatre, film, dance, and other performing arts, as well as literature and other media such as interactive media, are included in a broader definition of art or the arts. Until the 17th century, art referred to any skill or mastery and was not differentiated from crafts or sciences. In modern usage after the 17th century, where aesthetic considerations are paramount, the fine arts are separated and distinguished from acquired skills in general, such as the decorative or applied arts.
The Art (sometimes stylised as THEART) are an Australian Alternative Rock band based in Sydney. They began performing under the name The Follow in 2004. Tasmanian band leader Azaria Byrne was known as an unsuccessful contestant on the reality television series Popstars.
Early highlights for the band's career have been supporting successful bands such as the Pixies, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth and Thirty Seconds to Mars as late as 2010, however this was marred by the crowd booing and calls to "get off the stage".
As band leader Azaria Byrne enters middle age success has so far eluded him despite media attention resulting from his being cuckolded by the even older fading celebrity Bill Corgan.
The other band members have all been described as "dull" but this could also be a result of the attention seeking behavior of their singer.
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
Burning Man is an annual gathering that takes place at Black Rock City—a temporary community erected in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. The event is described as an experiment in community and art, influenced by 10 main principles, including "radical" inclusion, self-reliance and self-expression, as well as community cooperation, gifting and decommodification, and leaving no trace. First held in 1986 on Baker Beach in San Francisco as a small function organized by Larry Harvey and a group of friends, it has since been held annually, spanning from the last Sunday in August to the first Monday in September (the U.S. Labor Day); for example, Burning Man 2015 took place August 30 – September 7, 2015.
At Burning Man the community explores various forms of artistic self-expression, created in celebration for the pleasure of all participants. Participation is a key precept for the community – selfless giving of one's unique talents for the enjoyment of all is encouraged and actively reinforced. Some of these generous out-pourings of creativity can include experimental and interactive sculpture, building, performance, and art cars among other mediums, often inspired by the yearly theme, chosen by organizers. The event takes its name from its culmination, the symbollic, ritual burning of a large wooden effigy ("the Man") that traditionally occurs on the Saturday evening of the event.

Random Acts Of Genius Vandalism ”Is it art?” Is a question sometimes said and heard in museums, galleries, movie theaters, concert arenas, any place of creation. One such place is also the street, where the spectators often seem to wonder if creative street art is “Graffiti Art or vandalism?” With some people may regard street art as a form of vandalism, however the distinction between the two isn't always clear Many people would agree that some acts of vandalism are more funny than they are criminal. Street art adds something, either aesthetically or conceptually. Street art may be humorous or thought provoking. So I have collected this top list of 50 too funny to be illegal pranks and acts of "vandalism." If you think that some are funnier than others, then make your voice hear...

This is where it all began. It was our first attempt to design and produce one of our ideas for a film. Having done the shooting, we were not happy with the result and so we had to scrap the initial idea and start all over. We experimented and improvised with the music, the editing and the graphics until we felt we had something. Having no expectations, we posted it on vimeo. The feedback was quick and overwhelming. People’s comments from around the world, gave us the motivation to continue with more films for the series. http://deepgreensea.net/projects/the-carpenter.html directed / edited / vfx - Dimitris Ladopoulos, Spiros Rasidakis director of photography - Nikos Mexis sound design - Nikos Tsines music - The Three Corners of the Earth, The Fire Shall Devour Us (shot using available ...
Here is my 4th year animation thesis film. Its an experimental animation (at least for me), inspired by the dialogues of the general public, where I ask them "What does art mean to you?...In 2 sentences." The goal of the film was to promote art, and I wanted to make it a collaborative art piece where artists/anybody could contribute their interpretation of "what art means" to them, making it a forever growing art piece. In my original pitch, I wanted to use original voice recordings of the people I've interviewed, and animate an interpretation of their dialogue. But due to time restraints, I experimented with my own interpretation of what art means to me. Thanks for you time! Hope you'll enjoy this film!
Samantha was born in Australia from Greek parents. She decided to fulfil her dream of opening her own design firm in her homeland (Greece). Despite all the difficulties she faced during the transition, she kept her smile and her spirit up. She is now a well-accomplished designer, with collaborations both in Greece and abroad. When an idea materializes into paper and continues to magically transform into a deep red fabric, the only thing you can do is let go and follow your heart. We hope you enjoy it! Glassworks Amsterdam is very proud to have collaborated with the G-Star in-house creative team to realize the Art of RAW campaign film. Till now the global campaigns of the brand were based on iconic print advertisements, shot by one of the biggest names in photography Anton Corbijn, featuring talents like Liv Tyler, Magnus Carlsen and Gemma Arterton. We were therefore extremely excited when G-Star approached Glassworks to realize their first ever campaign commercial which will run online and in cinemas across the globe. Since the brand took a break from conventional advertising in their market, this was a great opportunity for the two brand’s expertise to meet: denim and high-end digital animation and visual effects. The result was a dramatic, fully CGI, macro-level journey through the...

Richard Thompson is renowned among cartoonists as the "artist's" cartoonist. Little known to all but those close to him is the extent of his extraordinary art, a gift so rare that it compelled "Calvin and Hobbes" creator, Bill Watterson, to break an almost 20 year silence and declare, "Now I have a reason to read comics again". This warm and moving portrait will enlighten and delight with the sheer beauty of his work. Visit http://www.g-v-i.com/portfolio/the-art-of-richard-thompson/ for more on the film.

http://www.cantorfineart.com/story/please-touch-the-art/ One day a blind man discovered a screw painting by Andrew Myers with his hands. The blind man found as much enjoyment out of the tactile elements of the work as any sighted person ever has by just looking at them. Andrew considers this moment as one of the most inspiring of his career. Which led us to a question: Why is touching artwork so taboo? Prior to the mid-1800s, tactile interaction was commonplace for visitors experiencing collections of art, but as museums of art evolved, rules forbidding touch became the norm. In some cases, these were to protect artwork that truly was not meant to be touched, but in large part these norms had nothing do with preservation and everything to do with nineteenth century politics of gender, rac...

From the Impression That I Get Australian and UK Import Single
Somethin' needs to take your mind off this,
something's gotta shine a light,
Is it everything that you've ever wanted,
Is it still not quite
A giant shadow's been cast on your outlook,
something needs to help you shake
Is it everything that you've ever dreamed of
Is it or is it fake?
Is it I'm only asking
Is it? No need to reply
Is it coming at you now, or is it going by?
Something needs to snap you out of this
Something needs to set you free
Is it what you hoped for?
I hope it is and hope it never happens to me
A giant shackle's been locked, making matters
much worse than you'd rather they would be
Is it all you've ever asked for?
Is it or isn't maybe?
Is it I'm only asking
Is it? No need to respond
Is it right in front of you? Or is it way beyond?
Is it time for the ever after?
I believe it's tough to find
Is it ending in disaster?
Are you ahead? Are you way behind?
Is it? I'm only asking?
Is it? If you don't mind
Is it right in front of you?
Are you ahead or are you way behind? Is it!
