Thomas Merton, O.C.S.O. (January 31, 1915 – December 10, 1968) was an American Catholic writer and mystic. A Trappist monk of the Abbey of Gethsemani, Kentucky, he was a poet, social activist, and student of comparative religion. In 1949, he was ordained to the priesthood and given the name Father Louis.
Merton wrote more than 70 books, mostly on spirituality, social justice and a quiet pacifism, as well as scores of essays and reviews. Among Merton's most enduring works is his bestselling autobiography The Seven Storey Mountain (1948), which sent scores of World War II veterans, students, and even teenagers flocking to monasteries across the US, and was also featured in National Review's list of the 100 best non-fiction books of the century. Merton was a keen proponent of interfaith understanding. He pioneered dialogue with prominent Asian spiritual figures, including the Dalai Lama, the Japanese writer D.T. Suzuki, the Thai Buddhist monk Buddhadasa, and the Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh, and authored books on Zen Buddhism and Taoism. In the years since his death, Merton has been the subject of several biographies.
John Merton (February 18, 1901 – September 19, 1959) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 250 films between 1927 and 1959.
Marymount Academy (commonly referred to as Marymount) is a public secondary school in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Directed by the English Montreal School Board (EMSB), Marymount offers an International Program of Studies based on the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) but still following Quebec Ministerial objectives as well the Regular program of studies (MEQ). The school serves around 400 to 500 students of very diverse cultural backgrounds mostly from the borough of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce.
Marymount High School was founded in 1961 and offered programs separately for boys and girls. In 1970 these separate programs were merged under the Marymount Comprehensive High School. In 1984, Marymount Academy adopted its present name and was relocated to 5100 Cote St. Luc Road, where it currently resides. By 1990, school uniforms were instituted as compulsory, and in 1996 the International Baccalaureate Program was established.

Following in the footsteps of the great apostles of nonviolence – Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Dorothy Day, Thomas Merton and Oscar Romero – John Dear, SJ presents in The Narrow Path the challenging message of Jesus in a fresh way, speaking with new force and vision of God’s plea for peace. Fr. John Dear’s interpretation of the life and death of Jesus calls for the body of Christ, the Church, to follow in the way of Jesus to the very end, without compromise, no matter the cost. The Narrow Path is a bold and challenging film, a prophetic call to embody the nonviolence of Jesus and become instruments of peace. Available from our website www.sandamianofoundation.org

https://www.scienceandnonduality.com/ Richard Rohr, as a Catholic priest and Franciscan Friar, will offer a concise history of how Western Christianity once had, soon lost, tried to retrieve, and now is roundly rediscovering its own traditional understanding of unitive consciousness (which was our word for non-dual thinking). The Christian contemplative mind was usually a subtext, and yet it was always clearly there too, and much closer to the surface, but only for those exposed to the mystical base that was revealed in the Gospel of John, the Desert Fathers and Mothers, the Celtic and monastic traditions, and what was generally referred to as the apophatic or wisdom stream of Christianity. These were our many saints and mystics. This possibility was brought to the fore by Thomas Merton i...
To celebrate the centenary of the birth of Old Oakhamian Thomas Merton, the Very Revd John Moses gave a lecture in the Wilson Auditorium at Oakham School. The Dean spoke most warmly of Thomas Merton as a schoolboy whose education and attitude towards life was in many ways formed whilst still at Oakham. His ability to debate, his love and compassion for people and his appreciation of the value of contemplation could all be recognised as taking root at Oakham, whilst his love for God and desire to enter a monastic order did not come until later into his twenties.
Starring Tom Keene, Lorraine Randall, Robert Fiske, Budd Buster, Matthew Betz, John Merton and Carl Stockdale. Directed by William Nigh. Night riders are terrorizing settlers in rural Johnson County. After one the town's advocates for a legal settlement to their situation, the homesteaders want to form vigilantes!! To avoid wholesale bloodshed, the other townsfolk appoint the local doctor the town sheriff and charge him with cleaning up the raiders. Not rated. Black and white. 56 minutes. Release date: May 7, 1937.
Annie says I should do what she tells me
Annie tells me what to do
Annie says I should do what I'm told
And she'll tell me what to do
Annie moves in mysterious ways
Annie says that she thinks I might be crazy
She might be right
'Cause Annie says, I'm just a loony
Annie says I'm a fool
And I think the same about everyone else
That Annie just tells me about
Annie says that
Annie says, I'm a fool and I'm a loony
I believe it could be true
Annie says I'm stranger than crazy
I say, "Annie you could be, too"
It could happen to a bishop or a priest
Or any man that you see on the street
They could be crazy
Any woman or man you see
Any child, any star you find
Annie says, "Any chance"
Annie says, "Any fortune"
The luck of the draw, the sling of the dice
The lowest hand, the highest nose
Don't think twice 'cause Annie says
Johnny says, "Annie's all right"
Johnny loves her all the time
Johnny says, "Annie's all right"
Johnny loves her all the time
She's got to be right
Annie, got to be right, Annie, got to be right
Annie, got to be right, Annie, got to be right
Annie says that I'm crazy
Annie knows I'm a lazy animal
Annie knows in her heart that I'm crazy
I tell you that it's something spiritual
Annie's right, I'm always wrong
Annie's wrong, I'm always right
Annie's right and I'm always wrong
Annie's wrong and I'm always right
Annie says I should move like a winner
Annie says she'll show me how
Annie says that I know how to pin her
I just have the don't know smile
Little Johnny boy
'Cause the don't know smile
Oh, little Johnny boy
Annie says there's a don't know smile
Annie says there's a don't know smile
Annie says there's a don't know smile
