Emerson, Lake & Palmer were an English progressive rock supergroup formed in London in 1970. The group consisted of keyboardist Keith Emerson, singer, guitarist, and producer Greg Lake, and drummer and percussionist Carl Palmer. They were one of the most popular and commercially successful progressive rock bands in the 1970s.
After forming in early 1970, the band came to prominence following their performance at the Isle of Wight Festival in August 1970. In their first year, the group signed with Atlantic Records and released Emerson, Lake & Palmer (1970) and Tarkus (1971), both of which reached the UK top five. The band's success continued with Pictures at an Exhibition (1971), Trilogy (1972), and Brain Salad Surgery (1973). After a three-year break, Emerson, Lake & Palmer released Works Volume 1 (1977) and Works Volume 2 (1977) which began their decline in popularity. After Love Beach (1978), the group disbanded in 1979.
They reformed in 1991 and released Black Moon (1992) and In the Hot Seat (1994). Emerson and Palmer continued in 1996 and toured until 1998. Lake returned in 2010 for the band's headline performance at the High Voltage Festival in London to commemorate the band's fortieth anniversary.
Elp is a town in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe, and lies about 15 km south of Assen.
The Elp culture was named after the town.
In 2001, the town of Elp had 264 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 0.20 km², and contained 105 residences. The statistical area "Elp", which can also include the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 410.
Gregory Stuart "Greg" Lake (born 10 November 1947) is an English singer, musician, songwriter and producer. He was a singer and bassist for King Crimson before becoming the bassist, guitarist, singer and lyricist for Emerson, Lake & Palmer. He also recorded as a solo artist, most notably scoring a major hit single in 1975 with "I Believe in Father Christmas".
Greg Lake, a school friend of Robert Fripp, was a founding member of King Crimson. Lake was primarily a guitarist, but agreed to switch to bass at Fripp's request. Lake had some involvement in writing the lyrics for King Crimson's debut album, In the Court of the Crimson King, although Peter Sinfield was the primary lyricist. Lake also ended up producing the album after their contracted producer, Tony Clarke, walked away from the project.
In The Court of the Crimson King, released in 1969, made King Crimson far more successful than any of Fripp and Lake's earlier projects (such as the Shy Limbs or Giles, Giles and Fripp). Lake's vocals, which ranged from serene and soothing to acerbic and distorted, were a striking element of the album. However, Lake stayed with King Crimson for only about a year, leaving soon after their debut album to start the rock trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Despite this, at Fripp's request, Lake sang on King Crimson's second album, In the Wake of Poseidon.
A lake is an area of variable size filled with water, localized in a basin, that is surrounded by land, apart from any river or other outlet that serves to feed or drain the lake. Lakes lie on land and are not part of the ocean (except for sea lochs in Scotland and Ireland), and therefore are distinct from lagoons, and are also larger and deeper than ponds, though there are no official or scientific definitions. Lakes can be contrasted with rivers or streams, which are usually flowing. However most lakes are fed and drained by rivers and streams.
Natural lakes are generally found in mountainous areas, rift zones, and areas with ongoing glaciation. Other lakes are found in endorheic basins or along the courses of mature rivers. In some parts of the world there are many lakes because of chaotic drainage patterns left over from the last Ice Age. All lakes are temporary over geologic time scales, as they will slowly fill in with sediments or spill out of the basin containing them.
Many lakes are artificial and are constructed for industrial or agricultural use, for hydro-electric power generation or domestic water supply, or for aesthetic or recreational purposes.
Carl Frederick Kendall Palmer (born 20 March 1950, Handsworth, Birmingham, England) is an English drummer and percussionist. He is credited as one of the most respected rock drummers to emerge from the 1960s. In addition, Palmer is a veteran of a number of famous English bands, including The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Atomic Rooster, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and Asia. He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 1989.
Palmer began taking drum lessons as a young boy, traveling to Denman Street, Piccadilly. His first band, with others from the Midlands area, was originally known as The King Bees, but changed its name to The Craig. They made their first record, "I Must Be Mad", produced by Larry Page, in 1966; the flip side was "Suspense". At this time, Palmer also did his first session work, playing on the song "Love Light" by The Chants, a group from Liverpool. Later in 1966, he was then invited to join Chris Farlowe and The Thunderbirds.

It's a three part epic fiction story. 1st Impression: 0:00 - 13:22 (It was split in the original LP beacuse it was too long for one side of the album, the first impression was split around 8:42) 2nd Impression: 13:23 - 20:00 3rd Impression: 20:31 - 29:37 Each part has its own style, and it's a beautiful track to listen. Carl Palmer's ELP Legacy Tour lets it rip with one of ELP's most famous songs--Karn Evil #9, better known by its lyric "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends..." 0:11 We could have done this in my living room, actually 0:45 Start Recorded with a split from the FOH board, Chief Engineer Ian Schreier has translated the live tracks into an amazing live mix. We are grateful to Carl Palmer and his team for coming to the Miraverse, delivering such an inspiring performance of such legendary music, and for giving us permission to post this video of that performance. Shot on RED WEAPON cameras.
From the Beginning is a song written by Greg Lake and performed by the progressive rock trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It was released on their 1972 album Trilogy. It is driven by an acoustic guitar line with layers of electric guitar (both rhythm and lead), electric bass guitar, and sung by Lake, with some backing on drums (played by Carl Palmer with tympani mallets and without cymbals), and with a distinctive closing synthesizer solo from Keith Emerson, accompanied by overdubbed random synthesizer-generated effects. It hit #39 in the US and was their highest charting single. The song was covered by the heavy metal band Dokken and Czech folk rock band Marsyas, albeit under a different name (Studená koupel) with a Czech version of the lyrics.

Give a little hope to our love
I wish, I wish
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
and give a little hope to our love
Love is like a smooth summer rain
I wish that you'll be back again
Holding back the good times
Forget about the past
Won't let you down
Sag nicht was du willst
Sag mir, was ich hören will | Won't let you go -
Sag mir, dass ich ein Teil
Aus deinem Leben bin | Won't let you cry!
Dass ich dir fehle - dein Gewissen quäle
Bereit' dem ein Ende - bereit' dem ein Ende
I wish, I wish
I could take your fears away
Love and hate
Is tearing us apart
Komm' zurück zu mir
I wish, I wish
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
And give a little hope to our love
Ich will's nie wieder wissen
Hab' dein Herz zerrissen
Will zurück zu dir, dich nie mehr missen
Love is like a smooth summer rain
I wish that you'll be back again
Holding back the good times
Forget about the past
Won't let you down
Sag nicht was du willst
Sag mir, was ich hören will | Won't let you go -
Sag mir, dass ich ein Teil
Aus deinem Leben bin | Won't let you cry!
Dass ich dir fehle - dein Gewissen quäle
Bereit' dem ein Ende - bereit' dem ein Ende
I wish, I wish
I could take your fears away
Love and hate
Is tearing us apart
Komm' zurück zu mir
I wish, I wish
Ich wünsch es mir so sehr
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
And give a little hope to our love
Es tut so weh
I wish, I wish
I could take your fears away
Love and hate
Is tearing us apart
Komm' zurück zu mir
I wish, I wish
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
And give a little hope to our love
Für unsere Liebe
