A protest in New York City has attracted an interesting guest: a giant inflatable rat (#TrumpRat) that bears striking resemblance to Donald Trump. On Monday, protesters gathered in front of Trump Tower on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue to greet the president as he arrived for his first official visit to the city since his inauguration, says NBC News. People took to the streets in response to violence that broke out over the weekend at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia — and Trump’s meek efforts to condemn said violence. How a Legendary ’90s Verse Helped ‘Patti Cake$’ Star Become a Rapper

1 hour ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

In 1998, the late, great, heavyweight rapper Big Pun blew minds with a memorable verse on “Twinz (Deep Cover ’98),” which included the following tongue-twisting couplet: “Dead in the middle of Little Italy, little did we know / That we riddled two middlemen who didn’t do diddly,” Pun rapped. Nineteen years later, fans of ’90s hip-hop will recognize an homage to those Pun bars in writer-director Geremy Jasper’s coming-of-age hip-hop comedy “Patti Cake$,” starring Danielle Macdonald as an aspiring rapper name Killa P/Patti. ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Recap: The Events That Led Up to Production Shutting Down

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

I may not know you, but allow me to speculate. Maybe the “Bachelor in Paradise” controversy earlier this summer enraged you. Or maybe you closed your eyes and covered your ears and hoped it would go away. Maybe you felt a little queasy about the lack of information that was made public, the lawyering up, the accusations and speculation. Maybe you felt uncomfortable about the way the whole mess was not addressed on “The Bachelorette” and only used to tease and emotionally manipulate people into watching the premiere. Maybe you felt guilty about watching. Well, if the lead-up to this season of “Bachelor in Paradise” made you feel anything at all, you probably have a lot to say after the first episode, which did essentially nothing to address the situation that caused production to shut down. Ah, yes, a full two hours was spent on the events leading up to the event.

Scaramucci Admits Reince Priebus Feud to Stephen Colbert: ‘No Love Lost There Obviously’ (Video)

Anthony Scaramucci’s tenure as White House communications director was short-lived, but it was marked by multiple hostile relationships, personal strife and one instantly iconic photo with Reince Priebus. During one of Scaramucci’s 10 days on the job, he famously battled with then-chief of staff Reince Priebus. Wall Street Journal photographer T.J. Kirkpatrick captured their adversarial relationship in a stunning photo of the two locking eyes while standing in the Oval Office. “That’s a rough photo,” Scaramucci admitted in an interview on CBS’s “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Monday. Scaramucci Suggests Priebus, Bannon are Trump Leakers on Colbert’s ‘Late Show’

1 hour ago | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Anthony Scaramucci, the short-lived White House Communications Director, took to CBS’ “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to levy some stiff accusations about the inner workings of the Trump administration.

During an appearance slated to air Monday night and taped earlier in the day, Scaramucci told Colbert in an interview segment previewed by CBS that he felt his relationship with former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus was “adversarial,” and then reiterated his feelings that Priebus and Trump advisor Steve Bannon have been leaking information to the press.

“There was no love lost there,” said Scaramucci of his relationship with Priebus.

When asked by Colbert if he felt Bannon might leave the White  House soon, Scaramucci replied, “that’s up to the President,” and then added, “If it was up to me, he’d be gone. But it’s not up to me.”

CBS is expected to air the full interview between Colbert and Scaramucci Monday night.

Shonda Rhimes is leaving ABC for Netflix, signaling a newfound focus for the streaming giant to sign proven content creators to overall deals. No, Google Did Not Violate Daily Stormer’s First Amendment Rights

1 hour ago | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Google and GoDaddy did not violate the Daily Stormer’s constitutional right of free speech by kicking the white supremacist website off their internet hosting services, experts say. The First Amendment “limits only the government, not private parties such as Google and GoDaddy,” Harvard law professor and free speech expert Floyd Abrams told TheWrap. Because “neither GoDaddy or Google have any First Amendment obligations to any customer,” the Daily Stormer would not win a First Amendment  lawsuit against those private companies, Santa Clara law professor and internet expert Eric Goldman told TheWrap. SAG-aftra Presidential Election Heats Up in the Home Stretch

1 hour ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

With 10 days left for members to vote, SAG-aftra’s national election is seeing plenty of attacks as the union’s two major factions denounce each other in a bid to sway the 144,000 performer members.

The minority Membership First group, headed by Esai Morales, has accused the dominant Unite for Strength of bungling the recent negotiations for a new contract, which was ratified by membership on Aug. 7 by a 76-24 margin. The union’s negotiating committee was led by president Gabrielle Carteris, who’s seeking re-election.

“There are over 450 scripted television programs — yet it’s harder than ever for working actors to make a living or get pension and health credits … Because the contracts haven’t kept up with the marketplace,” Membership First said. “We do not support the new travel provisions. It’s a huge give-away that obliterates decades long negotiated travel provisions that benefited performers.”
