Grenada (i/ɡrᵻˈneɪdə/; French: La Grenade) is an island country consisting of Grenada itself and six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. Grenada is located northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Grenada is also known as the "Island of Spice" because of the production of nutmeg and mace crops, of which it is one of the world's largest exporters. Its size is 344 square kilometres (133 sq mi), with an estimated population of 110,000. Its capital is St. George's. The national bird of Grenada is the critically endangered Grenada dove.
In 1649 a French expedition of 203 men from Martinique led by Jacques du Parquet founded a permanent settlement on Grenada. Within months this led to conflict with the local islanders which lasted until 1654 when the island was completely subjugated by the French. Those indigenous islanders who survived either left for neighbouring islands or retreated to remoter parts of Grenada where they were marginalised—the last distinct communities disappeared during the 1700s.
Five men allegedly attached to a string of robberies around the island during the yuletide season appeared before magistrate Tahira Gellineau and were remanded to her majesty prison until 5th February
Grenada recorded its second homicide for 2016 as members of the Royal Grenada Police Force discovered the body of a fifteen year old Good Hope resident motionless in a St. George community on Monday.
The two men caught in a drug bust in St. George last Sunday night, have been granted bail in the sum of one hundred thousand dollars each with two sureties as they made their first court appearance on Thursday.
Escaped prisoner The police are still on the lookout for a man that escaped their custody on Wednesday, and is seeking the assistance of the public in locating him.
Thursday 5th November,2015 heavy rainfall left mourning families.
With five individuals still missing following Sunday boating incident in St Patrick's one of the survivors is holding out hope that they are still alive. The young man who was among the 11 involved in the incident is praying for the safe return of his friends, whom he says are fighters
GNOW has joined in the discussion on the issue of gender equality, as that aspect of the rights and freedom bill has generated much debate over the past few weeks ahead of the now postponed constitution referendum vote

I am very lucky to be able to get involved in this specific outreach. This public health outreach is aimed towards fighting the cause of decay instead of just fixing decay. Thank you to all the people that make this possible. A survery team went in Janurary 2010 to 22 of the 200+ schools to screen for decay. The decay rate of children in Grenada is over 84%. The goal of this outreach is to seal and fluoride varnish all 26,000 children on the small Caribbean island of Grenada. All in hopes that future generations of children have lower decay rates. It is mandated by the government of Grenada that children get fluoride varnish 4 times a year, first molars sealed as soon as they are erupted, and to brush 2 minutes in school every day. Patrick Delves explains the benefits of lime and limeskin in this video. Lime (from Arabic and French lim)[1] is a term referring to a citrus fruit which is typically round, green, 3--6 cm in diameter, and containing sour (acidic) pulp. There are several species of citrus trees whose fruits are called limes, including the Key lime, Persian lime, kaffir lime, and desert lime. Limes are a good source of vitamin C, and are often used to accent the flavours of foods and beverages. They are grown year-round and are usually smaller and less sour than lemons[citation Patrick Delves has been a herbalist for over 25 years using natural remedies to cure his patients from diseases such as diabetes and cancers on the island of Grenada and abroad without the use of drugs. ST. DAVID, GRENADA — An American woman was found raped and murdered while on vacation on the island of Grenada on Sunday, Jan. 24. The 39-year-old tourist identified as Jessia Colker from Georgia was traveling with her husband. The pair was visiting La Sagesse beach in St. David, when a man with a cutlass approached and threatened them. The husband was able to escape but the woman's body was found minutes later in a nearby mangrove. An eyewitness report from a British magazine journalist, Sue Hardy, indicated that there were about 30 people on the beach that day. "Some guys were shouting and people were running," Hardy said. "At first we didn't know what was happening. But gradually rumors started spreading among the tourists." According to Hardy, the husband had ran back to the La ...

Grenada Travel Video Guide - Christopher Columbus discovered Grenada in 1498. The island was already inhabited by the Carib Indians, who had migrated from the South American mainland, killing or enslaving the peaceful Arawaks who were already inhabitants there. The Amerindians called their island Camerhogue, but Columbus renamed it Concepción. However, travelling Spanish sailors found its lush green hills so evocative of Andalusia that they rejected this name in favor of Granada. Over the centuries, although control of the island passed from France to Britain (and briefly back to France again), the name endured with just the slightest of alterations, changing from "Granada" to "La Grenade" to "Grenada". The French were the first to settle and travel to Grenada. Legend holds that in 1652 ...

Grenada Travel Guide - Isn't that the place that the US invaded in the '80s? Didn't it get munched by a hurricane a few years ago? Grenada is used to bad press. But like a fighter on the ropes, it's come out swinging and has reinvented itself as the next big thing. The one big island and two small ones plonked in the sea in the southeast corner of the Caribbean are undiscovered and rarely visited. Grenada Island is elliptically shaped and alive with a rainforested interior. Underrated beaches line the coast and sublime scuba diving is on offer just below the surface. St George's, the largest town, has one of the most picturesque waterfronts in all of the Caribbean. Stone buildings, forts from a forgotten time and houses of all colors meld into a hilly buffet of urban aesthetics. Friendly,...
