The London Underground (or simply the Underground or the Tube) is a public rapid transit system serving a large part of Greater London and parts of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. The network is considered the oldest rapid transit system, incorporating the world's first underground railway, the Metropolitan Railway, which opened in 1863 and is now part of the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines; and the first line to operate underground electric traction trains, the City & South London Railway in 1890, now part of the Northern line. The network has expanded to 11 lines, and in 2014/15 carried 1.305 billion passengers, making the Underground the world's 11th busiest metro system.
London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia. It was founded by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms Greater London, a region of England governed by the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. The conurbation also covers two English counties: the small district of the City of London and the county of Greater London. The latter constitutes the vast majority of London, though historically it was split between Middlesex (a now abolished county), Essex, Surrey, Kent and Hertfordshire.
The Victoria line is a deep-level London Underground route running from Brixton in the south in Zone 2 to Walthamstow Central in the north-east in Zone 3 of London. It is coloured light blue on the Tube map. It is one of two underground lines to run entirely below ground, the other being the Waterloo & City line. Constructed in the 1960s, it was the first entirely new tube line in London for fifty years, and was designed to relieve congestion on other lines, in particular the Piccadilly line and the Charing Cross branch of the Northern line. The line has always been operated using automatic train operation, but all trains carry drivers.
The Victoria line is used by 200 million passengers each year, making it the sixth most heavily used line on the network in absolute figures, but in terms of the average number of journeys per mile it is by far the most intensively used line.
A tube railway running from Victoria to Walthamstow was first proposed by a Working Party set up by the British Transport Commission in 1948, though that largely followed a 1946 plan for a Croydon to Finsbury Park line. The main purpose was to relieve congestion in the central area. The necessary Private Bill was introduced into Parliament in 1955. It described a line from Victoria to Walthamstow (Wood Street). There was also a proposal, though not included in the Bill, for a subsequent extension from Victoria to Fulham Broadway station on the District line.

I Didn't Know That is a documentary television show hosted by British industrial scientists Richard Ambrose and Jonny Phillips. Since 2006, 30 episodes and a "DIY Green" special have been made. A new series is not expected as the National Geographic Channel has made other science programmes (including Planet Mechanics and What Would Happen If...?). In some episodes, the hosts nearly kill themselves in order to prove certain theories or to finish a dangerous experiment. In a certain episode section "Fact of Fiction", the show hosts seem to promote dowsing as an actual science.
Celebrates the 100th anniversary of the bra. Richard and Jonny discover that 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. In particular, this is because chest diameter and maximum breast diameter rather than the volume is measured. An English engineer doctor, Tyra, has developed a bra design with crossed straps in the back. That uses the weight of one breast to lift the other, using counterbalance. Standard designs constrict chest movement during breathing. One of the tools used in the development has been a projective differential shape body analyzer for 40 000 GBP.

The New Tube will be introduced first on the Piccadilly line, followed by the Bakerloo, Central and Waterloo & City lines. Its innovative design will also allow for air-cooling for the first time on deep-level sections of the Tube. The train - designs for which are part of a new public exhibition at King's Cross St Pancras Underground station - also features improved accessibility, with step free access from the platform as well as walk-through carriages and wider doors. But underneath lies secret, hidden worlds, all but forgotten by the millions of people above. These places make up the countless layers of London, and each tells a unique story of the city’s past - successes and failures; victories and tragedies. When the Romans founded settlements along the River Thames during the 1st century AD, they laid down the very first layer of one of the world’s greatest cities. Long buried pieces of the original Roman town still survive to this day – statues, walls, even an entire amphitheatre, where fierce gladiators once fought…and died for glory. *** Commentary is contained in the closed captions for this video. *** Today’s film shows one of my favorite London Underground lines, the Victoria Line. It opened in 1968 and runs underground for the entirety of the line. It has been run with automatic train operation since day one, and it has been really optimized for speed. Trains accelerate and decelerate absolutely precisely, and there are no delays between stopping and opening the doors. Currently 2009 Stock trains are used on the line, which are very clean and modern. Also, the service frequency is quite amazing, with a train running every minute during peak times. This film shows scenes from Finsbury Park, Brixton and Pimlico as well as a short ride from Brixton to Stockwell. At Finsbury Park the film also briefly features a ...

Well, I did it in Paris on 8 November 2016...so now its London's turn to have all its Underground lines compiled into one glorious video. I filmed this on Tuesday 29 November 2016. Note that I filmed both the District and Hammersmith & City lines at Stepney Green. Also please note that I have posted some of the stations on this video as separate videos.

The London Underground History - Geographic History. The idea of an underground railway linking the City of London with some of the railway termini in its urban centre was proposed in the 1830s, and the Metropolitan Railway was granted permission to build such a line in 1854. The world's first underground railway, it opened in January 1863 between Paddington and Farringdon using gas-lit wooden carriages hauled by steam locomotives. It was hailed as a success, carrying 38,000 passengers on the opening day, and borrowing trains from other railways to supplement the service. The Metropolitan District Railway (commonly known as the District Railway) opened in December 1868 from South Kensington to Westminster as part of a plan for an underground 'inner circle' connecting London's main-line t...
This is a special 'in action' video of the London Underground, filmed at several strategic locations rich in variety for 'Underground' and 'Tube' stock used on the vast network in Greater London. The first stop is Wembley Park - served by both the Jubilee line tube and the Metropolitan Line. After Wembley Park we see District, Circle and Piccadilly Line services at South Kensington. Next comes Liverpool Street, with Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Central line services. After this comes Mile End, which sees District and Hammersmith & City Line trains alongside Central line trains. Finally we see Piccadilly and Victoria line services at Finsbury Park.
District 006. The entire District Line from Richmond to Upminster. It started to rain (again).

Some people might like to get a train to work
Or drive in in a Beamer or a merc,
Some guys like to travel in by bus,
But I can't be bothered with the fuss today
I'm going to take my bike,
Coz once again the Tube's on strike.
The greedy bastards want extra pay
for sitting on their arse all day
even though they earn 30K .
So I'm standing here in the pouring rain,
Where the fuck's my fucking train?
London Underground
London Underground
They're all lazy fucking useless cunts
London Underground
London Underground
They're all greedy cunts I want to shoot them all with a rifle.
All they say is "Please mind the doors",
and they learned that on the two day course,
This job could be done by a four year old.
They just leave us freezing in the cold.
What you smell is what you get
Burger King and piss and sweat
You roast to death in the boiling heat,
With tourists treading on your feet
and chewing gum on every seat,
so don't tell me to "Mind the gap"
I want my fucking money back.
London Underground
London Underground
They're all lazy fucking useless cunts
London Underground
London Underground
They're all greedy cunts I want to shoot them all with a rifle
LaLaLaLa
LaLaLaLa
The floors are sticky and the seats are damp,
Every platform has a fucking tramp,
But the drivers get the day off when we're all late for work again,
London Underground
London Underground
WaWa Wankers , They're all Wankers ,
London Underground
