Bristol has been one of the most important cities in England for nearly a thousand years. But the gorgeous medieval city has morphed into one of the hippest university cities in the U.K. With one million people in the area, Bristol is a great centre for culture and learning. It's home to art, fashion, creative media and an ultra hip music scene.
In the centre of the city is the beautiful Queen Square from 1699. The Northern side of the square is dominated by the historic Custom House. Today this well-known heritage building is home to a very modern language centre: EF Bristol.

I've been working on this project in my spare time between March 2013 and March 2014. One of the goals in the edit was to tell little stories using subtle interplays between shots, sometimes spanning over several shots. I love the richness and depth that time-lapse photography filmmaking provides, you always notice different things on subsequent viewings.
The project has been a real labour of love and features over 100 location shoots, with around 9000 separate images used for the final edit. I spent countless hours in pre-production, location shooting, and post production. From travelling around locations with lots of motion control equipment -- to fine tuning, finessing, and polishing sequences to arrive at the final edit. Time-lapse filmmaking takes a great deal of patience and determination.

Bristol (
i/ˈbrɪstəl/) is a city, unitary authority and county in South West England with an estimated population of 442,500 in 2015. It is England's sixth and the United Kingdom's eighth most populous city, and the most populous city in Southern England after London. People from Bristol are known as Bristolians. The city borders the counties of Somerset and Gloucestershire, with the historic cities of Bath and Gloucester to the south-east and north-east, respectively.
Iron Age hill forts and Roman villas were built near the confluence of the Rivers Frome and Avon, and around the beginning of the 11th century the settlement was known as Brycgstow (Old English "the place at the bridge"). Bristol received a royal charter in 1155 and was in Gloucestershire until 1373, when it became a county. From the 13th to the 18th century, Bristol was among the top three English cities after London (with York and Norwich) in tax receipts. Bristol was eclipsed by the rapid rise of Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution.

England i/ˈɪŋɡlənd/ is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders with Scotland to the north and Wales to the west. The Irish Sea lies northwest of England and the Celtic Sea lies to the southwest. England is separated from continental Europe by the North Sea to the east and the English Channel to the south. The country covers much of the central and southern part of the island of Great Britain, which lies in the North Atlantic; and includes over 100 smaller islands such as the Isles of Scilly, and the Isle of Wight.

The Industrial Revolution began in 18th-century England, transforming its society into the world's first industrialised nation.

I've been working on this project in my spare time between March 2013 and March 2014. One of the goals in the edit was to tell little stories using subtle interplays between shots, sometimes spanning over several shots. I love the richness and depth that time-lapse photography filmmaking provides, you always notice different things on subsequent viewings.
The project has been a real labour of love and features over 100 location shoots, with around 9000 separate images used for the final edit. I spent countless hours in pre-production, location shooting, and post production. From travelling around locations with lots of motion control equipment -- to fine tuning, finessing, and polishing sequences to arrive at the final edit. Time-lapse filmmaking takes a great deal of patience and determination.

Imagine if your well-thumbed, outdated guide book could talk. Think of the stories it would tell about the places it’s been, the characters encountered and narrow escapes along the way. Through this intimate installation you are invited to investigate a series of clues hidden within a guidebook that magically come to life as you turn the pages. How do books act as repositories of treasures and triggers of memories? When we read a book, do we leave something of ourselves in and on its pages? Stand + Stare have worked with Professor Tim Cole of the University of Bristol and Naomi Said to develop this piece through a REACT Pump Priming Grant at Bristol’s Pervasive Media Studio. All the media was recorded by Naomi on a trip to China in Nov/Dec 2012.

‘Hana no Kage/Shadow of a Flower’, a performance piece resulting from my trip to Japan in 2005 on an Arts Council travel bursary. Using the 17thc haiku master, Matsuo Basho’s revered ‘oku no hosomichi/The Narrow Road to the Deep North’ as a guide I followed in his footsteps for 5 weeks in the Northern provinces of Japan’s main island, Honshu, recording my impressions in words, stills, video and audio. I've been working on this project in my spare time between March 2013 and March 2014. One of the goals in the edit was to tell little stories using subtle interplays between shots, sometimes spanning over several shots. I love the richness and depth that time-lapse photography filmmaking provides, you always notice different things on subsequent viewings.
The project has been a real labour of love and features over 100 location shoots, with around 9000 separate images used for the final edit. I spent countless hours in pre-production, location shooting, and post production. The name says it all. This project breathes life back into wood that would normally go to landfill. It’s a non profit project, that is run by a small crew and a group of volunteers, and see’s that no wood goes to waste!

This short film is part of "The Journey" an unique documentary project that delves into environmental, socio-culture and economic issues, with a questioning mind.
The focus of the project is to find and film inspiring ideas and projects over a wide spectrum of individuals and cultures, whilst examining our ability to reform our ideals, and our lifestyle in order to make positive changes for our planet and the human race.
The “Journeymen” (a person whom travels in order to gain experience, skills and knowledge) go in search of these stories - equipped only with minimal filming gear and personal possessions, they document their experience as they travel to global communities to observe, question and learn.
It is an organic process that grows, evolves and takes it’s own direction. With no planned route nor destination, the journeymen believe they will connect with the right people and places at the right time to film, aid and guide them on.
The project is currently filming and traveling through the UK. As the project travels short films are uploaded that can be viewed on this website. It is the long-term goal that this project will travel internationally to create a feature length film that will be released, to be viewed for free.
The projects aims to benefit individuals, projects and communities by sharing knowledge, offering solutions and connecting people through film.
It is the hope this project will touch and inspire people, by conveying the beauty within human nature and our world and resonating what is actually possible, when it comes it comes to our ability to change the world for the better.

During the Easter Holidays, the Classics and RP departments joined together for their quadrennial trip to Greece. Led by an enthusiastic team consisting of Mrs ...
During the Easter Holidays, the Classics and RP departments joined together for their quadrennial trip to Greece. Led by an enthusiastic team consisting of Mrs Steven, Mme Holdsworth, Mr Jones and Mr Verry, thirty boys spanning Years 7-Sixth Form departed from QEH at 4am on a Saturday morning. After a hectic day of travel and a well-earned rest, we were introduced to our erudite tour guide, Maria, who would accompany us around the most famous landmarks of Mainland Greece and The Peloponnese.
Over the next six days, we visited a vast number of sights including The Oracle at Delphi, the home of the Olympic Games at Olympia, the incredible theatre at Epidaurus (you can whisper in the orchestra and be heard by the entire crowd), the dramatic Corinth canal, the Acropolis of Athens, several archaeological museums and a pottery workshop where we made ancient-style dolls. On top of all this, we had free time to explore Delphi, Tolon and Olympia by night and to take part in mind-bending quizzes organised by the teachers. Greece is known for its food, and we had the chance to try some amazing fresh fish and local delicacies such as baklava.
The trip was a tremendous success and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

This short film is part of "The Journey" an unique documentary project that delves into environmental, socio-culture and economic issues, with a questioning mind.
The focus of the project is to find and film inspiring ideas and projects over a wide spectrum of individuals and cultures, whilst examining our ability to reform our ideals, and our lifestyle in order to make positive changes for our planet and the human race.
The “Journeymen” (a person whom travels in order to gain experience, skills and knowledge) go in search of these stories - equipped only with minimal filming gear and personal possessions, they document their experience as they travel to global communities to observe, question and learn.
It is an organic process that grows, evolves and takes it’s own direction. With no planned route nor destination, the journeymen believe they will connect with the right people and places at the right time to film, aid and guide them on.
The project is currently filming and traveling through the UK. As the project travels short films are uploaded that can be viewed on this website. It is the long-term goal that this project will travel internationally to create a feature length film that will be released, to be viewed for free.
The projects aims to benefit individuals, projects and communities by sharing knowledge, offering solutions and connecting people through film.
It is the hope this project will touch and inspire people, by conveying the beauty within human nature and our world and resonating what is actually possible, when it comes it comes to our ability to change the world for the better.

I've been working on this project in my spare time between March 2013 and March 2014. One of the goals in the edit was to tell little stories using subtle interplays between shots, sometimes spanning over several shots. I love the richness and depth that time-lapse photography filmmaking provides, you always notice different things on subsequent viewings.
The project has been a real labour of love and features over 100 location shoots, with around 9000 separate images used for the final edit. I spent countless hours in pre-production, location shooting, and post production. From travelling around locations with lots of motion control equipment -- to fine tuning, finessing, and polishing sequences to arrive at the final edit. Time-lapse filmmaking takes a great deal of patience and determination.

The project has been a real labour of love and features over 100 location shoots, with around 9000 separate images used for the final edit. I spent countless hours in pre-production, location shooting, and post production. From travelling around locations with lots of motion control equipment -- to fine tuning, finessing, and polishing sequences to arrive at the final edit. Time-lapse filmmaking takes a great deal of patience and determination.
