Oregon (i/ˈɔːrᵻɡən/ AWR-ə-gən) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Oregon is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean, on the north by Washington, on the south by California, on the east by Idaho, and on the southeast by Nevada. The Columbia River delineates much of Oregon's northern boundary, and the Snake River delineates much of the eastern boundary. The parallel 42° north delineates the southern boundary with California and Nevada. It is one of only three states of the contiguous United States to have a coastline on the Pacific Ocean, and the proximity to the ocean heavily influences the state's mild winter climate, despite the latitude.
Oregon was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before Western traders, explorers, and settlers arrived. An autonomous government was formed in the Oregon Country in 1843, the Oregon Territory was created in 1848, and Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859. Today, at 98,000 square miles, Oregon is the ninth largest and, with a population of 4 million, 26th most populous U.S. state. The capital of Oregon is Salem, the second most populous of its cities, with 160,614 residents (2013 estimate). With 609,456 residents (2013 estimate), Portland is the largest city in Oregon and ranks 29th in the U.S. Its metro population of 2,314,554 (2013 estimate) is 24th. The Willamette Valley in western Oregon is the state's most densely populated area, home to eight of the ten most populous cities.

Now there’s a massive manhunt underway in the state of Oregon after the sickening thing that a Muslim migrant did to a 15-year-old child, and authorities are asking for the help of the American...

State Employment Economist Nick Beleiciks discusses Oregon's unemployment rate and employment outlook for May 2017
The New Economy, marked by globalization, technological innovation and entrepreneurial development, has replaced the capital-intensive, traditional manufacturing environment that dominated state economies in the second half of the 20th century. As such, old methods of measuring economic success need to be replaced with new metrics that can better analyze how states are adjusting to and thriving in the New Economy. The Oregon Biotechnology Industry Organization, the Oregon Business Association, the Oregon Business Council, and the Portland Business Alliance present the unveiling of ITIF's 2014 State New Economy Index, which uses indicators to predict how states are faring in the new age of globalization, big data, knowledge-based industries, and innovation. Presented on July 28, 2000 Dr. John Santa, administrator, Office of Oregon Health Plan Policy and Research; Dr. Glenn Rodriguez, family practice physician, Providence Health System; Phil Griffin, human resource project manager, Northwest Natural "Upon its inception in the early 1990s, the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) redefined the role of individuals, government, and business in the financing and delivery of health care. The Plan was meant to be cutting-edge. It was founded on the theory that a system of rationing, arrived at through a participatory, public decision-making process, could permit more reasonable allocation of scarce health care resources and expand the number of people covered with a fixed pot of public funds. In this travel video tour of Portland, Oregon, I travel to Portland, one of the most unique cities in the United States. I started my trip off by hopping off a plane and then immediately hopping onto a bus. But not just any bus, a bus operated by Brewvana Brewery Tours, the mostly women-run craft beer brewery tour company. Portland, or know as Beervana to some, is home to 55 breweries within its borders, and is truly a beer-lover's paradise. On my tour we made stops at Rogue Ales & Spirits, Laurelwood Pubic House & Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Sidecar Bar, where I had the chance to sit down over a pint with the founder and owner of Brewvana, Ashley Rose Salvitti. While in Portland, I stayed at the Tiny House Hotel, a hotel made up of, you guessed it, tiny houses. In the next po...
When long work weeks seem to be never-ending, I couldn't pass on this quick 48 hour trip to the Northern Oregon Coast in search of steelhead, solitude, and to catch up with an old friend. Chris Hodgman and I met up with master spey guide Scott O'Donnell of Fly Water Travel, who gave access to remote waters where steelhead were eager to chase a swung fly. With a short window of opportunity, we intentionally set our expectations very low only to find exactly what we were hoping for.
Portland, Oregon, is located in the Northwestern United States, where the Willamette and Columbia Rivers meet. Portland is sometime called 'Beervana', because of its large number of microbreweries. The Willemette Valley, meanwhile, is an excellent wine-growing region. At the heart of Portland is the amphitheater on Pioneer Courthouse Square. The Portland Art Museum here is the oldest museum in the region. The Tom McCall Waterside Park is a good spot for people-watching. Several bridges give access to the east bank, where the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry is located. Portland's climate is ideal for growing roses, showcased in the International Rose Test Garden. The nearby Japanese Garden is one of the most authentic outside of Asia. Washington Park offers lush gardens and trai...

The following is a vignette of a remote area deep in the heart of the Hells Canyon wilderness in Oregon. No modern DSLR camera had been there until now. I was fortunate enough to be invited on this private hunt with the permitted guide service Del Sol Wilderness Adventures. I documented what I saw in this art piece featuring rough timelapses of some of the most beautiful and remote landscapes in Oregon. Due to our method of travel I was limited on what gear I could bring. The slider timelapses are all done by hand, and the Gopro was used a lot. We rode for hours on end throughout the canyons and along the Snake river to find shed antlers, spot elk, and look for bears. The audio you hear toward the end was captured during a traditional sweat lodge experience we had prior to our adventure. ...
In May I traveled to the PNW to ski several iconic volcanoes. I skied Mount Baker, Mount Rainier (2nd descent of Nisqually Ice Cliff), Mount St Helens, Mount Adams (solo) and Mount Hood (solo). Although not volcanic, I made several attempts to ski Mount Shuksan. On each attempt the weather turned forced a turn-around. Those who skied with me and showed me a tremendous amount of generosity and hospitality include: -Josh Smith (one of my longtime friends and a guide for International Mountain Guides) -Sam Lozier -Drew Tabke -Will Sumner -Adam Gorski -Ben Krause These folks are shown in the video, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the hospitality and generosity of Anita Thompson, Greg and Rita Hamman, John and Meghann Watkins, and the Kurth family. Thank you so much for letting...

Because my upload of the Ralph Towner Quartet from Moldejazz 1978 was an unexpected success, I wanted to share a sequel (or prequel?) of sorts of an earlier Towner appearance at Moldejazz. The other personnel here are Paul McCandless on English horn, oboe, and bass clarinet, Collin Walcott on tabla, other percussion, and sitar, and Glen Moore on bass. To whom it may concern, I'm going to be starting up a channel soon dedicated mostly to jazz and fusion recordings: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcpCMqftGmFdFeVeXDu75cw I'll have more of Oregon, and probably guys like Zawinul, Miles, McLaughlin, and Mike Stern as well.
This tiny house is for sale (at the time of uploading this video). If you happen to watch the video after it's sold, oh well, there's still the whole "for your viewing pleasure" factor. This tiny house sits on a piece of property in Oregon and has literally everything you need for some honest to goodness tiny house living. Even a mini wood stove is installed to heat this little fella via wood. Here's a quick description of the tiny house and link below for most listing details. "We are selling our custom built Tiny Home as well as our 1 acre property in La Pine, Oregon, where the home sits on, which is located in Central Oregon, just 24 miles south of Bend. We are offering both together, or the Tiny Home separate. Selling both together can offer as a vacation getaway or a second property...

Oh hello, I am the ghost of troubled Joe
Hung by his pretty white neck
Some eighteen months ago
I traveled to a mystical time zone
And I missed my bed
And I soon came home
They said, "There's too much caffeine
In your bloodstream
And a lack of real spice in your life"
I said "Leave me alone
Because I'm alright, Dad
Surprised to still be on my own"
Oh, but don't mention love
I'd hate the strain of the pain again
A rush and a push and the land
That we stand on is ours
It has been before so it shall be again
And people that were uglier than you and I
They take what they need, and just leave
Oh, but don't mention love
I'd hate the strain of the pain all over again
A rush and a push and the land
That we stand on is ours
It has been before so why can't it be now?
And people who are weaker than you and I
They take what they want from life
Oh, but don't mention love
No, No, don't mention love
A rush and a push and the land
That we stand on is ours
Your youth may be gone
But you're still a young man
So phone me, phone me
So phone me, phone me, phone me
Oh, I think I'm in love, oh, I think I'm in love
Oh, I think I'm in love, think I'm in love
I think I'm in love, oh
