Carnival Dream is the lead ship of the Dream-class of cruise ships. Like all but one of her sisters, she is operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Built by Fincantieri at its Monfalcone shipyard in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northern Italy, she was floated out on October 24, 2008, and christened by Marcia Gay Harden.
At 128,000 GT, Carnival Dream was the largest ship yet built for Carnival Cruise Line. Her sister ship, Carnival Breeze, is the latest in the line’s ships, entering service on June 3, 2012, while her other sister ship, Carnival Magic, entered service in May 2011.
Carnival Dream and her sisters, Carnival Magic and Carnival Breeze are expected to have the widest variety of activity, dining, and entertainment options of the entire fleet, and are currently the largest ships ever built in Italy, by Fincantieri.
Carnival Dream features an array of cabins, from interior staterooms to suites, and introduced newer forms of cabins for Carnival Cruise Line. One new type of cabin is a deluxe ocean view stateroom. The deluxe ocean view stateroom has two separate washroom facilities. Another new cabin for the cruise line is cove balcony stateroom. The cove balcony stateroom has a partially enclosed veranda. The ship features special spa staterooms that are currently available on Carnival Splendor.
Carnival (see other spellings and names) is a Christian festive season that occurs before the Christian season of Lent. The main events typically occur during February or early March, during the period historically known as Shrovetide (or Pre-Lent). Carnival typically involves a public celebration and/or parade combining some elements of a circus, masks and public street party. People wear masks and costumes during many such celebrations, allowing them to lose their everyday individuality and join a social collective. The celebrations have long been associated with heavy alcohol consumption. Other common features of carnival include mock battles such as food fights; social satire and mockery of authorities; the grotesque body displaying hybridized or exaggerated features such as large noses, bellies, mouths, and phalli or elements of animal bodies; abusive language and degrading acts; depictions of disease and gleeful death; and a general reversal of everyday rules and norms.
The term Carnival is traditionally used in areas with a large Catholic presence. However, the Philippines, a predominantly Roman Catholic country, does not celebrate Carnival anymore since the dissolution of the Manila Carnival after 1939, the last carnival in the country. In historically Lutheran countries, the celebration is known as Fastelavn, and in areas with a high concentration of Anglicans and Methodists, pre-Lenten celebrations, along with penitential observances, occur on Shrove Tuesday. In Eastern Orthodox nations, Maslenitsa is celebrated during the last week before Great Lent. In German-speaking Europe and the Netherlands, the Carnival season traditionally opens on 11/11 (often at 11:11 a.m.). This dates back to celebrations before the Advent season or with harvest celebrations of St. Martin's Day.
Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur usually involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not definitively understood, though they have been a topic of scientific speculation, as well as a subject of philosophical and religious interest, throughout recorded history. The scientific study of dreams is called oneirology.
Dreams mainly occur in the rapid-eye movement (REM) stage of sleep—when brain activity is high and resembles that of being awake. REM sleep is revealed by continuous movements of the eyes during sleep. At times, dreams may occur during other stages of sleep. However, these dreams tend to be much less vivid or memorable.
The length of a dream can vary; they may last for a few seconds, or approximately 20–30 minutes. People are more likely to remember the dream if they are awakened during the REM phase. The average person has three to five dreams per night, and some may have up to seven; however, most dreams are immediately or quickly forgotten. Dreams tend to last longer as the night progresses. During a full eight-hour night sleep, most dreams occur in the typical two hours of REM.

After much anticipation and waiting... We finally arrive at the port and board the Carnival Dream! I must say this was the quickest we have ever gotten through check in and security to board a ship, literally the line never stopped moving, it was so fast! Thank you New Orleans Port!!! Once on board we headed to deck 8 to drop our bags off in our cabins... but the doors were closed and we couldn't get it... this had never happened to us before but we are easy going, we just headed back down to the lobby, grabbed a drink and spoke to guest services and the Maitre D to straighten out a few mix-ups we had. So at 1:00 we returned to our cabin, unpacked everything and then headed up to Lido for our first look at the main outdoor entertainment & food deck and to grab some lunch. The kids s...
Carnival Dream is the first of the Dream-class of ships for Carnival, the largest class to date. At 1004 ft long, 122 ft wide and 15 decks high, the Dream is a very big ship! On this sailing, there was a technical problem with the backup generator. Carnival decided to keep the ship docked in Saint Maarten as a precaution. Carnival treated its guest in a fantastic manner, giving partial refunds and discounts on future cruises! And we got to enjoy Saint Maarten for 2 extra days! The Dream can carry upwards of 4400 passengers and 1300 crew. In this video, you will see all of the ships areas: dining room, pools, different food options, Serenity deck, Circle C, Club O2, pools, bars, shops, balcony stateroom 9334, basketball court, mini golf, casino, ocean plaza, lanai, theater, atrium,...
