Found Tapes is a new weekly show that highlights some of the rarest, weirdest, and sometimes just really cool videos that people send to us. This week, hitch a ride back in time to Wolverhampton, UK to catch ska legends The Specials' triumphant 30th anniversary gig.
The Specials – 30th Anniversary Tour documentary was released back in 2010 to commemorate the string of sold-out, off-the-wall UK dates that the band (featuring original members Terry Hall, Neville Staple, Lynval Golding, Roddy Radiation, Sir Horace Gentleman and John Bradbury, but sans founding songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers) tore through following a surprise appearance on BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland show. Filmed at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in front of a manic hometown crowd, the show was the biggest revival story of 2009 and marked the first time that the band had been filmed in concert in over twenty-eight years.
Rock along to a hit-heavy set of classic 2 tone tunes, and watch as the pride of Coventry show that the spirit of '77 is alive and kicking. These old rude boys have still got plenty of tricks up their mohair sleeves.

The Specials
The Specials, also known as The Special AKA, are an English 2 Tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. Their music combines a "danceable ska and rocksteady beat with punk's energy and attitude", and had a "more focused and informed political and social stance" than other ska groups.
The band wore mod-style "1960s period rude boy outfits (pork pie hats, tonic and mohair suits, and loafers)." In 1980, the song "Too Much Too Young", the lead track on their The Special AKA Live! EP, reached number one in the UK. In 1981, the unemployment-themed single "Ghost Town" also hit number one in the UK Singles Chart.
After seven consecutive UK Top 10 singles between 1979 and 1981, three members of the group abruptly left to form Fun Boy Three. Continuing on as "The Special AKA" (a name they used frequently on earlier Specials releases), a substantially revised Specials line-up issued new material through 1984, including the top 10 UK hit single "Free Nelson Mandela". Afterwards, founder and songwriter Jerry Dammers dissolved the band and pursued political activism.

"To You" is a 1939 song composed by Tommy Dorsey with Benny Davis and Ted Shapiro. The song was a top 10 hit on the Billboard charts.
Other recordings
"To You" was recorded by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra with vocals by Ray Eberle and released as an RCA Bluebird 78. Glenn Miller also performed the song at the 1939 Carnegie Hall Concert, which was released in 1958 by RCA Victor on the album The Glenn Miller Carnegie Hall Concert. "To You" appeared as part of a medley by Glenn Miller and his Orchestra, paired with "Stairway to the Stars", both sung by Ray Eberle at the live performance at Carnegie Hall on October 6, 1939. Glenn Miller recorded "To You" for Bluebird records on May 9, 1939 released as Bluebird 10276-B, with the "A" side, "Stairway To The Stars" both sung by Ray Eberle.Ella Fitzgerald and Paul Whiteman also recorded the song. The song was featured by Harry Richman in the International Casino Revue Hello Beautiful in 1939.
Harry James recorded the song with Frank Sinatra on vocals.

Mystery meat navigation
Mystery meat navigation (also known as MMN) is a disparaging term coined in 1998 by Vincent Flanders, author and designer of the website Web Pages That Suck, to describe a web page where the destination of the link is not visible until the user points their cursor at it. Such interfaces lack a user-centered design, emphasizing aesthetic appearance, white space, and the concealment of relevant information over basic practicality and functionality.
The epithet "mystery meat" refers to the meat products often served in American public school cafeterias whose forms have been so thoroughly reprocessed that their exact types can no longer be identified by their appearances: like them, the methods of MMN are clear to the producer but baffling to the consumer.
Flanders originally and temporarily described the phenomenon as Saturnic navigation in reference to the Saturn Corporation, whose company website epitomized this phenomenon. Flanders writes, "The typical form of MMN is represented by menus composed of unrevealing icons that are replaced with explicative text only when the mouse cursor hovers over them".

Found Tapes is a new weekly show that highlights some of the rarest, weirdest, and sometimes just really cool videos that people send to us. This week, hitch a ride back in time to Wolverhampton, UK to catch ska legends The Specials' triumphant 30th anniversary gig.
The Specials – 30th Anniversary Tour documentary was released back in 2010 to commemorate the string of sold-out, off-the-wall UK dates that the band (featuring original members Terry Hall, Neville Staple, Lynval Golding, Roddy Radiation, Sir Horace Gentleman and John Bradbury, but sans founding songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers) tore through following a surprise appearance on BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland show. Filmed at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in front of a manic hometown crowd, the show was the biggest revival story of 2009 and marked the first time that the band had been filmed in concert in over twenty-eight years.
Rock along to a hit-heavy set of classic 2 tone tunes, and watch as the pride of Coventry show that the spirit of '77 is alive and kicking. These old rude boys have still got plenty of tricks up their mohair sleeves.

Found Tapes is a new weekly show that highlights some of the rarest, weirdest, and sometimes just really cool videos that people send to us. This week, hitch a ride back in time to Wolverhampton, UK to catch ska legends The Specials' triumphant 30th anniversary gig.
The Specials – 30th Anniversary Tour documentary was released back in 2010 to commemorate the string of sold-out, off-the-wall UK dates that the band (featuring original members Terry Hall, Neville Staple, Lynval Golding, Roddy Radiation, Sir Horace Gentleman and John Bradbury, but sans founding songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers) tore through following a surprise appearance on BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland show. Filmed at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in front of a manic hometown crowd, the show was the biggest revival story of 2009 and marked the first time that the band had been filmed in concert in over twenty-eight years.
Rock along to a hit-heavy set of classic 2 tone tunes, and watch as the pride of Coventry show that the spirit of '77 is alive and kicking. These old rude boys have still got plenty of tricks up their mohair sleeves.

Found Tapes is a new weekly show that highlights some of the rarest, weirdest, and sometimes just really cool videos that people send to us. Found Tapes is a new weekly show that highlights some of the rarest, weirdest, and sometimes just really cool videos that people send to us. This week, hitch a ride back in time to Wolverhampton, UK to catch ska legends The Specials' triumphant 30th anniversary gig.
The Specials – 30th Anniversary Tour documentary was released back in 2010 to commemorate the string of sold-out, off-the-wall UK dates that the band (featuring original members Terry Hall, Neville Staple, Lynval Golding, Roddy Radiation, Sir Horace Gentleman and John Bradbury, but sans founding songwriter and keyboardist Jerry Dammers) tore through following a surprise appearance on BBC Two's Later... with Jools Holland show. Filmed at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in front of a manic hometown crowd, the show was the biggest revival story of 2009 and marked the first time that the band had been filmed in concert in over twenty-eight years.
Rock along to a hit-heavy set of classic 2 tone tunes, and watch as the pride of Coventry show that the spirit of '77 is alive and kicking. These old rude boys have still got plenty of tricks up their mohair sleeves.
