In today video I am going to share three awesome ideas about what can be made from an old HDD at home. All too often people are used to getting rid of old staffs, not thinking that they can be given a second life. An old hard disk drive can be useful as a fossil)) I mean if you take it to pieces, you can find lots of useful such as expensive and powerful neodymium magnets, rustless steel washers, nuts and so on. All of that will one day be useful for your DIYs. My piece of advice to you is to hold back getting rid of old staffs because one day you may need it. Along with that it doesn't cry and ask for food. That's why put it into a box untill better times.

There it is pumped to a recycler. From the recycler the regained bentonite fluid is brought back into the drill cycle.The locating system shows when the drill head has left its predefined drill path. In this case the drill head will be redirected back on course.In a second step the pilot bore hole is enlarged in diameter by pulling back a constantly rotating backreaming tool. New drill rods are continuously added during the process to extend the drill string.All backreaming tools are equipped with nozzles and cutters inserts in order to hydraulically and mechanically remove the immediately surrounding soil.Due to the geology a mixture consisting of water, bentonite and other additives such as polymers is used to remove the drill cuttings and to stabilise the bore hole while also reducing the friction force.In a third and last step the product pipe is pulled in.During the pull-in process, a swivel between the backreamer and the ensuing product pipe is installed in order to prevent a rotation of the product pipe.The product pipe has to enter the bore hole without exceeding its minimum bending radius. Therefore the front part of the pipe will be adjusted to the exit angle of the bore hole by lifting it before it goes into to the bore hole.The HDD-Technology can be used in soft and very hard geological formations.
It does not matter if the bore is executed in Siberia at -40 degrees Celsius or at +40 degrees Celsius in the Sahara dessert.

Hard disk drive
A hard disk drive (HDD), hard disk, hard drive or fixed disk is a data storage device used for storing and retrieving digital information using one or more rigid ("hard") rapidly rotating disks (platters) coated with magnetic material. The platters are paired with magnetic heads arranged on a moving actuator arm, which read and write data to the platter surfaces. Data is accessed in a random-access manner, meaning that individual blocks of data can be stored or retrieved in any order and not only sequentially. HDDs are a type of non-volatile memory, retaining stored data even when powered off.
Introduced by IBM in 1956, HDDs became the dominant secondary storage device for general-purpose computers by the early 1960s. Continuously improved, HDDs have maintained this position into the modern era of servers and personal computers. More than 200 companies have produced HDD units, though most current units are manufactured by Seagate, Toshiba and Western Digital. As of 2015, HDD production (exabytes per year) and areal density are growing, although unit shipments are declining.

Directional boring
Directional boring, commonly called horizontal directional drilling or HDD, is a steerable trenchless method of installing underground pipe, conduit, or cable in a shallow arc along a prescribed bore path by using a surface-launched drilling rig, with minimal impact on the surrounding area. Directional boring is used when trenching or excavating is not practical. It is suitable for a variety of soil conditions and jobs including road, landscape and river crossings. Installation lengths up to 2000 m have been completed, and diameters up to 1200 mm have been installed in shorter runs. Pipe can be made of materials such as PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, Ductile iron, and steel as long as it can be pulled through the drilled hole. Directional boring is not practical if there are voids in the rock or incomplete layers of rock. The best material is solid rock or sedimentary material. Soils with cobble stone are not recommended. There are different types of heads used in the pilot-hole process, and they depend on the geological material.

Directional drilling
Directional drilling (or slant drilling) is the practice of drilling non-vertical wells. It can be broken down into three main groups: oilfield directional drilling, utility installation directional drilling (horizontal directional drilling), directional boring, and surface in seam (SIS), which horizontally intersects a vertical well target to extract coal bed methane.
History
Many prerequisites enabled this suite of technologies to become productive. Probably, the first requirement was the realization that oil wells, or water wells, are not necessarily vertical. This realization was quite slow, and did not really grasp the attention of the oil industry until the late 1920s when there were several lawsuits alleging that wells drilled from a rig on one property had crossed the boundary and were penetrating a reservoir on an adjacent property. Initially, proxy evidence such as production changes in other wells was accepted, but such cases fueled the development of small diameter tools capable of surveying wells during drilling. Horizontal directional drill rigs are developing towards large-scale, micro-miniaturization, mechanical automation, hard stratum working, exceeding length and depth oriented monitored drilling.

In today video I am going to share three awesome ideas about what can be made from an old HDD at home. All too often people are used to getting rid of old staffs, not thinking that they can be given a second life. An old hard disk drive can be useful as a fossil)) I mean if you take it to pieces, you can find lots of useful such as expensive and powerful neodymium magnets, rustless steel washers, nuts and so on. All of that will one day be useful for your DIYs. My piece of advice to you is to hold back getting rid of old staffs because one day you may need it. Along with that it doesn't cry and ask for food. That's why put it into a box untill better times.

In this case the drill head will be redirected back on course.In a second step the pilot bore hole is enlarged in diameter by pulling back a constantly rotating backreaming tool. New drill rods are continuously added during the process to extend the drill string.All backreaming tools are equipped with nozzles and cutters inserts in order to hydraulically and mechanically remove the immediately surrounding soil.Due to the geology a mixture consisting of water, bentonite and other additives such as polymers is used to remove the drill cuttings and to stabilise the bore hole while also reducing the friction force.In a third and last step the product pipe is pulled in.During the pull-in process, a swivel between the backreamer and the ensuing product pipe is installed in order to prevent a rotation of the product pipe.The product pipe has to enter the bore hole without exceeding its minimum bending radius. Therefore the front part of the pipe will be adjusted to the exit angle of the bore hole by lifting it before it goes into to the bore hole.The HDD-Technology can be used in soft and very hard geological formations.
It does not matter if the bore is executed in Siberia at -40 degrees Celsius or at +40 degrees Celsius in the Sahara dessert.
