Stephen Prescott MBE (26 December 1973 – 9 November 2013) was an international rugby league footballer. Prescott was born in St Helens, and started his professional career with his hometown club, who signed him in 1992. He made his début for St Helens a year later, and soon established himself as the club's first choice fullback. In 1996, Prescott helped Saints win the Championship (Super League I) and Challenge Cup for the first time in two decades. He went on to win a second consecutive Challenge Cup with the club in 1997, but was sold to Hull Sharks at the end of the season.
After spending two years at Hull, Prescott joined Wakefield Trinity Wildcats (Heritage #1154) in 2000, but rejoined Hull a year later after being released by Wakefield due to the club's financial difficulties.
Prescott made his senior international début in 1996, playing both games for England in their 1996 European Championship victory. He later changed his international allegiance to Ireland, who he represented at the 2000 Rugby League World Cup. He also made one appearance for Lancashire in 2003, but suffered a serious knee injury while playing for the team, which ultimately ended his playing career.
Paul Simon Wellens (born 27 February 1980) is a retired English professional rugby league footballer. A Great Britain and England national representative fullback, he played his entire career with St. Helens, with whom he won several Super League championships and Challenge Cup titles. Wellens also became only the third player to have won the Lance Todd Trophy, Harry Sunderland Trophy, and the Man of Steel Award.
Born in St Helens, Merseyside, Wellens was educated by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, along with his twin sister Claire.
Wellens joined the St. Helens ranks and made his Super League debut in the 1999 season. Success quickly followed and Wellens soon secured his place in perhaps St Helens strongest era. Wellens became renowned for his all round game, excelling particularly at taking catches. An England call up followed and with full back Kris Radlinski already established at international level, Wellens displayed his versatility with spells on the wing and at centre. A call up for Great Britain ensued, and he made a handful of appearances before being contentiously left out by then coach David Waite, who felt Wellens' form had dipped during this period. Wellens played for St Helens RLFC from the interchange bench in their 1999 Super League Grand Final victory over Bradford Bulls.

The only outfit still left is one owned by Linda Banning. Steve Prescott and Lucky Chandler stop a holdup of a Banning stage and offer the girl their services. They are lodged in her barn, along with Harmony Hobbs, when Quinlan's men set it on fire, but Steve recognizes one of the outlaws. Convinced he must use strategy to trap Quinlan, Steve picks a fight with Lucky and the, after losing it, goes to Quinlan stating he wants revenge against Lucky and Miss Banning, and asks to drive Quinlan's stage in the race to determine which line gets the franchise. Quinlan, though, suspects a trick and puts a broken axel-pin on Steve's wagon. He also has a dynamite charge placed in the stage driven by Lucky and then, has another one of his men drive a third stage.

This is a very short video of the Man himself arriving at the Church. I hope the video doesn't offend or upset anyone close to Steve. I am honoured and very privileged to have been present for the service and although today was a very sad day with barely a dry eye in sight, it was perhaps the most heart warming feeling I have ever felt. RIP Prekkie. You will be missed and treasured by so many people.
