Old Jeb just wants to sit down at home and watch some gosh-darned TV. Can it really be that hard? Well, if your idea of DIY repairs involves administering vicious blunt force trauma with whatever object you can find, then yes. Yes it can. Jebediah's Television is the culmination of a senior year's worth of work at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation this Spring and focused mainly on 3D character animation. Now on Newgrounds (front page!): http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/620804 Also on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91KA6zrNLzY ------------------ Now I'm gonna write a bunch of stuff that you don't have to read if you don't want. :D To cut a long story short, the summer of 2012 I was agonizing pretty badly over not being able to come up with a concept for a film that was super deep and meaningful or whatever without coming off as mopey, sophomoric, or just weird (not the good kind). Thankfully, a bit of taste prevented me from going with something like that. :P So I decided to "keep it simple, stupid," and came up with the idea of an old guy that's two heads tall and beats his TV with things because he doesn't know how it works. It was a shower idea, too! Maybe it's not the best thing since Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but I worked on it for 9 months and when I finally kicked it out of my life it got screened at the grad show to raucous laughter, which is really all I ever wanted. :D Also, apparently the dean liked it and three other shorts the most, so that's cool, too. I think back now at my initial mentality when I started thinking about making this, which was that I wanted to make a film that I could do by myself, and I laugh now because if I did at the time, it would've turned up a mess or it just wouldn't have gotten finished ever. Jebediah himself is basically four parts Jason (concept art), Matt R (modeling, http://www.matthewriddle.net/), Gaige (rigging, http://www.gaigehallman.com/) and I (animation). Ok, five parts with Jen (textures) but since she only textured Jeb for like an hour she didn't want any credit. She also probably didn't want any credit because it's not at all representative of the rest of her awesome work (http://jennifermei.com, holy shit look at iiiiit), buuut she did it so she deserves credit. On the sound front, I had my pal the mad keytar shredder Joe (http://www.youtube.com/user/pumpkinking872) help me out with music and music production (although the credits music is basically my baby, and the biggest reason I let them roll for so long, haha), while my other pal Matt Thirey handled the rest of the sound design and production and squeaky noises. Finally, another fellow animator, Amanda Clark, coyly voiced the fitness instructor Jeb covets so much ("BUBBLIER?!"), and I still can't believe I asked him to, but Jason Maurer (http://jasonmaurer.com/), my professor at SCAD for Concept Dev, Senior II, and Post-Production did all the vocalizations for Jebediah in what will probably be one of the funniest and craziest ADR sessions I will ever direct. All the people above weren't just vaguely acquainted crew members; they were my actual pals, some of whom I've known since sophomore and even freshman year.
