Boss (crater)

Boss is a lunar impact crater that is located along the northeast rim of the Moon's near side. Due to its location, the crater is viewed from the side by observers on the Earth, and its visibility is subject to libration effects.

This formation has not been significantly eroded by impacts, and it retains a well-defined outer rim that is not overlain by smaller craters of note. The inner wall is wide and has a terraced surface. The interior floor has a low central peak that is offset slightly to the north from the midpoint.

The closest named craters are Vashakidze to the southeast on the far side of the Moon, and the heavily eroded Riemann to the south. Further to the southwest is the prominent crater Gauss, and to the north-northwest is the Mare Humboldtianum.

The crater is named for astronomer Lewis Boss.

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Boss.

Laevens 1

Laevens 1 is a faint globular cluster in the constellation Crater that was discovered in 2014. It is also known as Crater, the Crater cluster and PSO J174.0675-10.8774.

At a distance of 145 kiloparsecs (470 kly) it is the most distant Milky Way globular cluster yet known, located in the galactic halo surrounding the Milky way galaxy. With an age of only 7.5 Gyr, it is likely to have been incorporated into our galaxy long after when the Milky way was formed, probably during an interaction with the Small Magellanic Cloud

An alternative analysis categorizes it as a satellite galaxy.

Crater 101

"Crater 101" is the 17th episode of the Supermarionation television series Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons. It was first broadcast in the United Kingdom on 26 January 1968 (1968-01-26) on ATV Midlands, was written by Tony Barwick and directed by Ken Turner.

After the events of "Lunarville 7", in this episode Captains Scarlet and Blue and Lieutenant Green return to the Moon to destroy the Mysteron complex in Crater 101.

Plot

It is planned that the Mysteron complex in Crater 101, on the far side of the Moon, will be destroyed with an atomic device. However, so that the Mysterons will not be able to reconstruct their complex, its power source will first have to be located and removed. Captains Scarlet and Blue and Lieutenant Green volunteer for the mission and, returning to the Moon, launch their operation from Lunarville 6. Travelling to Crater 101 in a Moonmobile, and transferring to a smaller Lunar Tractor to enter the crater, the officers are attacked by computerised sentinels, which are immobilised when Green destroys the control vehicle with the Tractor's cannon. Donning space suits and entering the complex, Scarlet, Blue and Green take camera and instrumentation recordings and ultimately find that the power source is a pulsating crystal.

Turbomasters

Turbomasters were an Australian, Canadian, and European exclusive range of Transformers toys, released in 1992 as part of their final year of products for the original franchise. A subgroup of the Autobots, there were six Turbomasters: Thunder Clash, Rotorstorm, Boss, Hurricane, Flash, and Scorch. They all had the gimmick of missile launchers which became their engines or turbines when in vehicle mode. Their rivals were the Decepticon Predators. A seventh Turbomaster called Hyperdrive was designed but never released.

Thunder Clash - Function: Commander-in-chief. Thunder Clash is the leader of the Turbomasters and commands the respect of the Autobots, and the loathing of the Predators. He possesses a sharp and keen strategic mind, able to counter the abilities the Predators possess. Thunder Clash transforms into a Cybertronian truck cab with an accompanying trailer, which transforms into a command center.

Rotorstorm - Function: Guide and strategician. The only airborne member of the Turbomasters, Rotorstorm transforms into a helicopter. Possesses a "dodge" ability that allows him to guide his grounded comrades. He maintains an image that he is a ruthless and fearless fighter, respected by all, even the Decepticons, so that he can inspire and motivate his comrades.
