Heimdall 2 (also known as Heimdall 2: into the Hall of Worlds) is an isometric action-adventure video game developed by The 8th Day and published by Core Design for Amiga, Amiga CD32 and MS-DOS platforms in 1994. It is set in a world based on Norse mythology and is the sequel to Heimdall, released in 1992.
The CD-ROM versions contain a CD audio soundtrack composed by Martin Iveson.
In Norse mythology, Heimdallr (modern Icelandic Heimdallur) is a god who possesses the resounding horn Gjallarhorn, owns the golden-maned horse Gulltoppr, has gold teeth, and is the son of Nine Mothers. Heimdallr is attested as possessing foreknowledge, keen eyesight and hearing, and is described as "the whitest of the gods", and keeps watch for the onset of Ragnarök while drinking fine mead in his dwelling Himinbjörg, located where the burning rainbow bridge Bifröst meets Asgard, the world of the gods. Heimdallr is said to be the originator of social classes among humanity and once regained Freyja's treasured possession Brísingamen while doing battle in the shape of a seal with Loki. Heimdallr and Loki are foretold to kill one another during the events of Ragnarök. Heimdallr is additionally referred to as Rig, Hallinskiði, Gullintanni, and Vindlér or Vindhlér.
Heimdallr is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional material; in the Prose Edda and Heimskringla, both written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson; in the poetry of skalds; and on an Old Norse runic inscription found in England. Two lines of an otherwise lost poem about the god, Heimdalargaldr, survive. Due to the problematic and enigmatic nature of these attestations, scholars have produced various theories about the nature of the god, including his apparent relation to rams, that he may be a personification of or connected to the world tree Yggdrasil, and potential Indo-European cognates.
The Amiga CD32, styled "CD32" and code-named "Spellbound", is the first 32-bit home video game console released in western Europe, Australia, Canada and Brazil. It was first announced at the Science Museum in London, United Kingdom on July 16, 1993, and was released in September of the same year. The CD32 uses CD-ROM media, and was developed by Commodore, creator of the Commodore 64 computer. It was based on Commodore's Advanced Graphics Architecture chipset, and is of similar specification to the Amiga 1200 computer. Using third party devices, it is possible to upgrade the CD32 with keyboard, floppy drive, hard drive, RAM and mouse, turning it into the equivalent of an Amiga 1200 personal computer. A hardware MPEG decompression module for playing Video CD was released. In the Christmas period following its launch, the CD32 accounted for 38% of all CD-ROM drive sales in the UK, exceeding sales of the Mega-CD; however it was soon overshadowed by CD-ROM based games consoles from other companies, and was discontinued as Commodore went into bankruptcy.

Whoa whoa. What is this? This is Heimdall 2 -- a 1994 game by The 8th Day. It seems that no one on YouTube has done a playthrough for the MS-DOS version in English (there is one for the Amiga CD32 version). So here I am playing through this! A little bit about the game itself... You know about open world RPGs right? Like Skyrim, Fallout 3 those kind of games? This... is not one of them. Heimdall 2 is more of a "where-the-f***-do-I-go" kind of RPG. The control is an awkward combination of keyboard and mouse that clearly expects you to have one more hand than normal. It lacks all the hand-holding and tutorial which are industry standard today. But this is exactly why this kind of retro games is fun. I played this game some 15 years ago and I couldn't get past the hakrats in the ini...
