EMS Chartering, Leer, together with sister companies GALA and EMS APO, both located in Durres, organized the transport of a drilling rig in December 2014. 160 truck loads had to be transported from the drilling site in Albania to Durres. The rig was shipped to Emden, where EPAS, Ems Port Agency and Stevedoring, took care of the discharge and intermediate storage. The video shows the loading in Durres.

Yacht charter
Yacht chartering is the practice of renting, or chartering, a sailboat or motor yacht and travelling to various coastal or island destinations. This is usually a vacation activity, but it also can be a corporate event.
There are two main kinds of charter: bareboat and crewed. Bareboat charters involve a person renting a boat or cabin and skippering it themselves if they are renting the whole yacht. The other way is gathering up a group and renting the yacht with them. Most bareboat companies also offer courses to teach basic seamanship and prepare people for bareboat chartering. These companies also sometimes provide skippered charters, meaning that boat comes with a skipper but no additional crew.
Crewed charter means the yacht comes with a crew. This can be anything from a 35-foot boat with a two-person team serving as captain and chef to a 300-foot boat with a squad of 30 or more crew members including stewardesses, engineers, mates, deckhands, scuba dive masters, and the like.

The Virgin Islands are the western island group of the Leeward Islands, which are the northern part of the Lesser Antilles, and form the border between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. With over 150 vessels in their fleet, BBC Chartering is the largest multipurpose, heavy lift and project shipping company in the world. BBC Chartering concentrates on specialized marine transport.
History
BBC Chartering opened its first office in Bremen, Germany in 1997. Two years later, the headquarters was moved to Leer, Germany. Offices in Argentina and Houston, Texas followed. In our first video, we assessed what to look for when buying the boat and in this video, we will show you how to refurbish a boat’s interior and exterior to transform it into an all-inclusive yacht charter for the Caribbean. Refurbishing the interior: We started by increasing the space in the salon by removing the table and bringing in a coffee table for storage. Next, we improved the décor of the cabins, salon, and interior space. This included purchasing linens, pillows, and other decorations that matched the interior of the cabin. On this yacht, we were able to maintain the stainless fixtures in the head and easily clean out the showers and heads. Refurbishing the exterior: Normally, we would have replaced the exterior upholstery. However, they were in such a condition we decided to clean and keep the existing upholstery and replace it later down the road. Again, the décor (including silverware, plates, glasses, and pillows) was all handpicked to match the existing upholstery and bring a cohesive design together. We cleaned the exterior coating well, and added a cushion to the trampoline. We finalized the transformation with a renaming ceremony to convert what once was ‘Mr. Tom’ into ‘Island R&R;.’ The owners had the logo made by a local company and then printed onto vinyl to place on the side of the yacht. EMS Chartering, Leer, together with sister companies GALA and EMS APO, both located in Durres, organized the transport of a drilling rig in December 2014. 160 truck loads had to be transported from the drilling site in Albania to Durres. The rig was shipped to Emden, where EPAS, Ems Port Agency and Stevedoring, took care of the discharge and intermediate storage. The video shows the loading in Durres.

You’ve bought a bareboat and need to reinvent it into a luxury yacht charter. In our first video, we assessed what to look for when buying the boat and in this video, we will show you how to refurbish a boat’s interior and exterior to transform it into an all-inclusive yacht charter for the Caribbean.
Refurbishing the interior:
We started by increasing the space in the salon by removing the table and bringing in a coffee table for storage.
Next, we improved the décor of the cabins, salon, and interior space. This included purchasing linens, pillows, and other decorations that matched the interior of the cabin.
On this yacht, we were able to maintain the stainless fixtures in the head and easily clean out the showers and heads.
Refurbishing the exterior:
Normally, we would have replaced the exterior upholstery. However, they were in such a condition we decided to clean and keep the existing upholstery and replace it later down the road.
Again, the décor (including silverware, plates, glasses, and pillows) was all handpicked to match the existing upholstery and bring a cohesive design together.
We cleaned the exterior coating well, and added a cushion to the trampoline.
We finalized the transformation with a renaming ceremony to convert what once was ‘Mr. Tom’ into ‘Island R&R;.’ The owners had the logo made by a local company and then printed onto vinyl to place on the side of the yacht.

In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we cover our 2 day trip up the St Lawrence River to our new home in Kingston Ontario. It was something we had been looking forward to all off season and it was suppose to be a filled with the breathtaking beauty of the 1000 Islands, but ended up being a cold, wet, miserable experience. Freezing cold temperatures, rain and dense fog made the trip unpleasant, but a collision at the very end of the trip made the trip heartbreaking. We seriously considered cancelling the trip when we saw the weather forecast, but we decided to go anyway and now we really wish we had postponed the trip. Hindsight is always 20/20, so we have to move on and learn from this. Hopefully by watching this, some viewer may avoid a similar fate.

The Hoover Institution hosts "The State of D.C. Charter Schools: Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going" on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 3:00pm - 4:30pm EST.
A quarter-century ago, Minnesota passed America’s first charter school law. While charters have veered from the expectation that they would act as “incubators of innovation,” they have become a transformative force in education that has racked up notable successes when serving disadvantaged inner-city kids. Although state policy and local support have been indispensable, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that private philanthropy has driven much of the charter sector’s growth.
That funding has been especially significant in the nation’s capital, which now boasts one of the largest, best funded, and most successful charter environments in the nation. The sector’s strength wouldn’t be possible without the many local and national philanthropies that have invested generously in excellent schools (particularly “no-excuses” models). Charter Schools at the Crossroads: Predicaments, Paradoxes, Possibilities, the new book co-authored by Chester E. Finn, Jr., Bruno Manno, and Brandon Wright, takes a close look at how this philanthropic investment has driven the sector’s evolution—for better or worse.
What exactly has been philanthropy’s role in the District’s success? Has it been enough? Where should it go as we move into the next twenty-five years? How far can we push the “no-excuses” practice to maintain its record of high performance? And what else, besides more and better no-excuses schools, could chartering do for D.C. and the country?

His diverse portfolio of experience in architecture, engineering, and construction has provided value for over 22 years. He has authored many magazine articles and contributed to many industry publications, and he is involved in creating academic curriculum used in construction and engineering specialization industries globally. As an early BIM adopter and innovator, he is always looking beyond the technology utilization norms and he focuses on value delivery to his clients. Jeremiah is finishing his Masters of Engineering in Project Management at University of Kansas this fall.

In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we cover our 2 day trip up the St Lawrence River to our new home in Kingston Ontario. It was something we had been looking forward to all off season and it was suppose to be a filled with the breathtaking beauty of the 1000 Islands, but ended up being a cold, wet, miserable experience. Freezing cold temperatures, rain and dense fog made the trip unpleasant, but a collision at the very end of the trip made the trip heartbreaking. We seriously considered cancelling the trip when we saw the weather forecast, but we decided to go anyway and now we really wish we had postponed the trip. Hindsight is always 20/20, so we have to move on and learn from this. Hopefully by watching this, some viewer may avoid a similar fate.
