Member of Upper house of Parliament of India.
We elect the MLAs (they belongs to the state or union territory) and the MLAs elect the Rajya Sabha members (who are nominated by their political party).
Eligibility for a member of the Rajya Sabha must:
1. Be a citizen of India
2.Be at least 30 years old;
Elections to Rajya sabha are conducted every 2 years. Elections to 1/3 rd of these seats occur every 2 years. The term of Rajya Sabha members is 6 years.
It will be clearer here: Such as Maharashtra has 19 members in Rajya Sabha, out of which 6,6 and 7 members that is 1/3rd retire every 2 years, after completion of their 6 year term.
To win a candidate must acquire the following number of votes :
Quotient of ( Number of MLAs/(No. of seats contested + 1)) + 1.
Suppose 6 members are retiring after completing their terms(Maharastra) . Few months before their term end elections will be announced by Election Commission of India. If there are only 6 valid applications from the candidates then all 6 will be announced elected. In case more than 6 candidates in the fray, in the election all 288 MLAs of Assembly (Maharashtra Bidhan sabha) are eligible to vote. All MLAs rank their choice of candidates by giving number 1, 2, 3 etc. voters with the formula roundup(Voters/(N+1)),0). Here, if all 288 voters vote then winning quota is 288/7 = 41.14 ~ 42. Every candidate must get 42 votes to be elected.
The Rajya Sabha is to consist of not more than 250 members – 238 members representing the States and Union Territories and 12 members nominated by the President.

The Rajya Sabha or Council of States is the upper house of the Parliament of India. Membership of Rajya Sabha is limited by the Constitution to a maximum of 250 members, and current laws have provision for 245 members. Most of the members of the House are indirectly elected by state and territorial legislatures using single transferable votes, while the President of India can appoint 12 members for their contributions to art, literature, science, and social services. Members sit for staggered six-year terms, with one third of the members retiring every two years.
The Rajya Sabha meets in continuous sessions, and unlike the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament, is not subject to dissolution. The Rajya Sabha has equal footing in all areas of legislation with Lok Sabha, except in the area of supply, where the Lok Sabha has overriding powers. In the case of conflicting legislation, a joint sitting of the two houses can be held. However, since the Lok Sabha has twice as many members as the Rajya Sabha, the former would normally hold the greater power. Joint sittings of the Houses of Parliament of India are rare, and in the history of the Republic, only three such joint-sessions have been held; the latest one for the passage of the 2002 Prevention of Terrorism Act.

The Lok Sabha (English: House of the People) is the lower house of India's Bicameral-Parliament, with the higher house being the Rajya Sabha. Members of the Lok Sabha are elected by adult Universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies. Members hold their seats until the body is dissolved by the President on the advice of the council of ministers. The house meets in the Lok Sabha Chambers of the Sansad Bhavan in New Delhi.
Composition
The maximum strength of the House envisaged by the Constitution of India is 552, which is made up by election of up to 530 members to represent the states; up to 20 members to represent the Union Territories and not more than two members of the Anglo-Indian Community to be nominated by the President of India, if, in his/her opinion, that community is not adequately represented in the House. Under the current laws, the strength of Lok Sabha is 545, including the two seats reserved for members of the Anglo-Indian community. The total elective membership is distributed among the states in proportion to their population. A total of 131 seats (18.42%) are reserved for representatives of Scheduled Castes (84) and Scheduled Tribes (47). The quorum for the House is 10% of the total membership.

Member of Upper house of Parliament of India. We elect the MLAs (they belongs to the state or union territory) and the MLAs elect the Rajya Sabha members (who are nominated by their political party). Eligibility for a member of the Rajya Sabha must: 1. Be a citizen of India 2.Be at least 30 years old; Elections to Rajya sabha are conducted every 2 years. Elections to 1/3 rd of these seats occur every 2 years. The term of Rajya Sabha members is 6 years. It will be clearer here: Such as Maharashtra has 19 members in Rajya Sabha, out of which 6,6 and 7 members that is 1/3rd retire every 2 years, after completion of their 6 year term. To win a candidate must acquire the following number of votes : Quotient of ( Number of MLAs/(No. of seats contested + 1)) + 1. Suppose 6 members are retiring after completing their terms(Maharastra) . Few months before their term end elections will be announced by Election Commission of India. If there are only 6 valid applications from the candidates then all 6 will be announced elected. In case more than 6 candidates in the fray, in the election all 288 MLAs of Assembly (Maharashtra Bidhan sabha) are eligible to vote. All MLAs rank their choice of candidates by giving number 1, 2, 3 etc. voters with the formula roundup(Voters/(N+1)),0). Here, if all 288 voters vote then winning quota is 288/7 = 41.14 ~ 42. Every candidate must get 42 votes to be elected. The Rajya Sabha is to consist of not more than 250 members – 238 members representing the States and Union Territories and 12 members nominated by the President. -

In the House of Commons, on 18 September 2012, MP Paul Flynn was kicked out of the UK parliament for telling the defence secretary Phillip Hammond that he was using British soldiers as human shields for ministers' reputations by sending them to die in vain in a war which was lost. In 1930, when the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, made this statement to the women of India, he was envisioning something similar to what happened yesterday at the swearing in ceremony of the Modi government.
It was a big day for the world’s largest democracy, not only because for the first time over 4,000 people attended the ceremony on the lawns of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, or for the fact that after 30 years a single majority government was being formed, but also because of the inclusion of seven women ministers, six of them with Cabinet rank— a first in any Indian government.
While there were veterans like Sushma Swaraj and Najma Heptulla on one side, there was an equally good show by relatively young ones like Smriti Irani and Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Indian general elections 2014. One thing was sure that these stalwarts of the BJP had left no stone unturned to reinforce their party’s victory.
While the enormity of success of these women leaders cannot be justified in few words, this is a humble attempt by HerStory to salute all these newly-appointed ministers who’re going to lead the country towards glory. Here’s everything you should know about each one of them:

1. Be a citizen of India
2.Be at least 30 years old;
Elections to Rajya sabha are conducted every 2 years. Elections to 1/3 rd of these seats occur every 2 years. The term of Rajya Sabha members is 6 years.
It will be clearer here: Such as Maharashtra has 19 members in Rajya Sabha, out of which 6,6 and 7 members that is 1/3rd retire every 2 years, after completion of their 6 year term.
To win a candidate must acquire the following number of votes :
Quotient of ( Number of MLAs/(No. of seats contested + 1)) + 1.
Suppose 6 members are retiring after completing their terms(Maharastra) . Few months before their term end elections will be announced by Election Commission of India. If there are only 6 valid applications from the candidates then all 6 will be announced elected. In case more than 6 candidates in the fray, in the election all 288 MLAs of Assembly (Maharashtra Bidhan sabha) are eligible to vote. All MLAs rank their choice of candidates by giving number 1, 2, 3 etc. voters with the formula roundup(Voters/(N+1)),0). Here, if all 288 voters vote then winning quota is 288/7 = 41.14 ~ 42. Every candidate must get 42 votes to be elected.
The Rajya Sabha is to consist of not more than 250 members – 238 members representing the States and Union Territories and 12 members nominated by the President.

He compared Hammond and other government ministers to politicians in the First World War "who lied and soldiers died." Paul Flynn refused to withdraw the accusation of lying and was banned from the House of Commons for five days.

New Delhi: Indian Parliament has its own share of beautiful women politicians. These are confidant Indian ladies who are a blend of beauty and brain and are articulate enough to raise the issues relating to the hoi polloi.
Here we are compiling a list of most gorgeous women who are members of Indian Parliament.
If by strength is meant brute strength, then, indeed, is woman less brute than man. If by strength is meant moral power, then woman is immeasurably man’s superior. Has she not greater intuition, is she not more self-sacrificing, has she not greater powers of endurance, has she not greater courage? Without her, man could not be.
In 1930, when the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, made this statement to the women of India, he was envisioning something similar to what happened yesterday at the swearing in ceremony of the Modi government.
It was a big day for the world’s largest democracy, not only because for the first time over 4,000 people attended the ceremony on the lawns of the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, or for the fact that after 30 years a single majority government was being formed, but also because of the inclusion of seven women ministers, six of them with Cabinet rank— a first in any Indian government.
While there were veterans like Sushma Swaraj and Najma Heptulla on one side, there was an equally good show by relatively young ones like Smriti Irani and Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Indian general elections 2014. One thing was sure that these stalwarts of the BJP had left no stone unturned to reinforce their party’s victory.

Member of Upper house of Parliament of India.
We elect the MLAs (they belongs to the state or union territory) and the MLAs elect the Rajya Sabha members (who are nominated by their political party).
Eligibility for a member of the Rajya Sabha must:
1. Be a citizen of India
2.Be at least 30 years old;
Elections to Rajya sabha are conducted every 2 years. Elections to 1/3 rd of these seats occur every 2 years. The term of Rajya Sabha members is 6 years.
It will be clearer here: Such as Maharashtra has 19 members in Rajya Sabha, out of which 6,6 and 7 members that is 1/3rd retire every 2 years, after completion of their 6 year term.
To win a candidate must acquire the following number of votes :
Quotient of ( Number of MLAs/(No. of seats contested + 1)) + 1.
Suppose 6 members are retiring after completing their terms(Maharastra) . Few months before their term end elections will be announced by Election Commission of India. If there are only 6 valid applications from the candidates then all 6 will be announced elected. In case more than 6 candidates in the fray, in the election all 288 MLAs of Assembly (Maharashtra Bidhan sabha) are eligible to vote. All MLAs rank their choice of candidates by giving number 1, 2, 3 etc. voters with the formula roundup(Voters/(N+1)),0). Here, if all 288 voters vote then winning quota is 288/7 = 41.14 ~ 42. Every candidate must get 42 votes to be elected.
The Rajya Sabha is to consist of not more than 250 members – 238 members representing the States and Union Territories and 12 members nominated by the President.

Jayaprada is “typical” Indian politician who switched many parties in her long political career which started in 1994 from Telgu Desham Party. She became a Rajya Sabha MP from TDP, then twice she became Member of Parliament from Rampur Seat on SP ticket and finally lost 2014 election from Rampur seat on RLD ticket.

Shabana Azmi is an Indian actress of film, television and theatre. An alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India of Pune, she made her film debut in 1974 and soon became one of the leading actresses of Parallel Cinema.In appreciation of Azmi's life and works, the Congress party's government gave her a nominated (unelected) membership of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of parliament.She remained MP from 27 August 1997 to 26 August 2003.

Nitish Bharadwaj is an Indian film actor, director, screenwriter and former member of the Indian Parliament Lok Sabha. He is best known for his portrayal of Lord Krishna in B. R. Chopra's television series Mahabharat.Nitish contested the parliamentary elections from Jamshedpur and Rajgarh (in Madhya Pradesh) as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate and was elected to Lok Sabha as a Member of Parliament from Jamshedpur in 1996.
12.Rajesh Khanna
The legendary actor of Bollywood joined politics at the insistence of Rajiv Gandhi in 1984. He contested for a seat in the New Delhi Election but he didn’t win, thereby losing to L K Advani. Rajesh Khanna won the same seat in 1992 for the Congress Party by thrashing Shatrughan Sinha from BJP in the by-election. He was designated as one of the members of the Lok Sabha from the year 1992 to 1996.
