MUMBAI: Bob Christo, the man who played "gora" henchman in films of the eighties and nineties, including Amitabh Bachchan's " Namak Halal" and " Agneepath", passed away in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. He was 70. His business partner and family friend, Khaleem Pasha, said, "He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today."

Bob Christo
Robert John Christo, popularly known as Bob Christo (Hindi: बोब क्रिस्टो), was an Australian-Indian civil engineer and actor in Hindi films. Starting with Sanjay Khan's Abdullah (1980), he went on to act in over 200 Hindi films in the 1980s and 1990s, including Qurbani (1980), Kaalia (1981), Nastik (1983), Mard (1985), Mr India (1987), Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993) and Gumraah (1993), mostly playing roles as a henchman or an Army General.
Career
Born in Sydney, Australia, Christo was a qualified Civil Engineer. He had two brothers, Helmut and Mike. Known for his brawny physique and bald headed look, Bob arrived in Mumbai, India whilst awaiting a work permit to expatriate to Muscat. It is in Mumbai where he was introduced to Bollywood actress Parveen Babi who enabled him his first steps into the world of Hindi films.
He received his first break, as a typecast villain in the Hindi movie Abdullah in 1980. Christo decided to stay in India and appeared in over 200 movies in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. His film career had restricted him to typecasted roles as an antagonist to the main villain, or a British Indian army officer in pre-war related movies.

MUMBAI: Bob Christo, the man who played "gora" henchman in films of the eighties and nineties, including Amitabh Bachchan's " Namak Halal" and " Agneepath", passed away in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. He was 70. His business partner and family friend, Khaleem Pasha, said, "He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today."

Synopsis - Raja Azaad Singh rules over his people with compassion and fairness, and as result this region prospers. His wife, Durga, gives birth to a son, and there is considerable jubilation amongst his subjects. Then the British decide to take over his region, Azaad fights bravely, but he is outnumbered, both he and Durga are taken prisoner and made to work as slaves. Loyal subjects assist in getting their son out of the region, where he is adopted by a kind woman Jamuna and her husband. Years later, while Durga, who has lost the use of her vocal chords, and Azaad are still slaves, their son, now named Raju, drives a horse-carriage (tonga) with a horse named Badal and a loyal dog named Moti; woos a proud and snobbish Rajkumari named Ruby, the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry. When the British find out about Raju's royal blood, they enmesh Azaad and him in web of lies of deceit, forcing them to a combat with each other in an open arena. Synopsis : One of the best films ever made on the Tarzan plot in the B/C/D genre. The film stars Goga Kapoor as a hunter and auctioneer of 'Jungli Ladkiyan' in the big city. One of the iconic scenes includes an auction where wild girls in bare necessities are auctioned to famished buyers who I assume are actually the technical crew. The main story begins as Jack Gaud, who has the best role in the film, is a buyer who wants 'Jungle Beauty' a girl who can't read or write English but sing a song titled 'Jungle Beauty' with choreographed animals. Jack Gaud only speaks through his keyboard and his interpreter is none other than Mr. Bob Christo. There is a subplot in the film where Rajiv Kumar who looks like a young Armaan Kohli tries to swoon Miss Jungle Beauty who is bound to marry Puneet Issar. This leads to a subplot similar to the love-jealousy angle in James Cameron's Avatar. In all the whole film is enjoyable, but if you ask me for iconic scenes two out of several come to mind. One is the auction scene in the beginning, second Jack Gaud's introduction and lastly a scene where Jack Gaud rapes a woman with the Casio keyboard kept below her body, so as Mr. Gaud ravishes her the keyboard plays to the mood. The only minus point -- Joginder is criminally wasted.

Actor Bob Christo passes away
MUMBAI: Bob Christo, the man who played "gora" henchman in films of the eighties and nineties, including Amitabh Bachchan's " Namak Halal" and " Agneepath", passed away in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. He was 70. His business partner and family friend, Khaleem Pasha, said, "He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today."

MUMBAI: Bob Christo, the man who played "gora" henchman in films of the eighties and nineties, including Amitabh Bachchan's " Namak Halal" and " Agneepath", passed away in Bangalore on Sunday afternoon. He was 70. His business partner and family friend, Khaleem Pasha, said, "He was hospitalised after a massive heart attack on Saturday afternoon. He passed away today."

Synopsis - Raja Azaad Singh rules over his people with compassion and fairness, and as result this region prospers. His wife, Durga, gives birth to a son, and there is considerable jubilation amongst his subjects. Then the British decide to take over his region, Azaad fights bravely, but he is outnumbered, both he and Durga are taken prisoner and made to work as slaves. Loyal subjects assist in getting their son out of the region, where he is adopted by a kind woman Jamuna and her husband. Years later, while Durga, who has lost the use of her vocal chords, and Azaad are still slaves, their son, now named Raju, drives a horse-carriage (tonga) with a horse named Badal and a loyal dog named Moti; woos a proud and snobbish Rajkumari named Ruby, the daughter of Britisher Dr. Harry. When the British find out about Raju's royal blood, they enmesh Azaad and him in web of lies of deceit, forcing them to a combat with each other in an open arena. Watch how father and son unknowingly fight each other, knowing fully well that only one of them will survive to tell this tale.

Synopsis : One of the best films ever made on the Tarzan plot in the B/C/D genre. The film stars Goga Kapoor as a hunter and auctioneer of 'Jungli Ladkiyan' in the big city. One of the iconic scenes includes an auction where wild girls in bare necessities are auctioned to famished buyers who I assume are actually the technical crew. The main story begins as Jack Gaud, who has the best role in the film, is a buyer who wants 'Jungle Beauty' a girl who can't read or write English but sing a song titled 'Jungle Beauty' with choreographed animals. Jack Gaud only speaks through his keyboard and his interpreter is none other than Mr. Bob Christo. There is a subplot in the film where Rajiv Kumar who looks like a young Armaan Kohli tries to swoon Miss Jungle Beauty who is bound to marry Puneet Issar. This leads to a subplot similar to the love-jealousy angle in James Cameron's Avatar. In all the whole film is enjoyable, but if you ask me for iconic scenes two out of several come to mind. One is the auction scene in the beginning, second Jack Gaud's introduction and lastly a scene where Jack Gaud rapes a woman with the Casio keyboard kept below her body, so as Mr. Gaud ravishes her the keyboard plays to the mood. The only minus point -- Joginder is criminally wasted.
