Ada County is a county in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2010 Census, the county had a population of 392,365, making it the most populous county in Idaho. The county seat and largest city is Boise, which is also the state capital.
Ada County is included in the Boise, ID Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Ada County is by far the state's largest in population, containing more than one quarter of the state's residents, and contains its only county highway district; the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) has jurisdiction over all the local county and city streets, except for private roads and state roads. In the interior Northwest east of the Cascade Range, Ada County ranks second in population behind only Spokane County, Washington.
Ada County was created by the Idaho Territorial Legislature on December 22, 1864, partitioned from Boise County. It is named for Ada Riggs, the first pioneer child born in the area and the daughter of H.C. Riggs, a co-founder of Boise.Canyon County, which originally included Payette County and most of Gem County, was partitioned from western Ada County in 1891.
A county, abbreviated Cnty. (US) or Co. (UK and Ireland), is a geographical region of a country used for administrative or other purposes, in certain modern nations. The term is derived from the Old French conté or cunté denoting a jurisdiction under the sovereignty of a count (earl) or a viscount. The modern French is comté, and its equivalents in other languages are contea, contado, comtat, condado, Grafschaft, graafschap, Gau, etc. (cf. conte, comte, conde, Graf).
When the Normans conquered England, they brought the term with them. The Saxons had already established the districts that became the historic counties of England, calling them shires (many county names derive from the name of the county town with the word "shire" added on: for example, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire). The Vikings introduced the term earl (from Old Norse, jarl) to the British Isles. Thus, "earl" and "earldom" were taken as equivalent to the continental use of "count" and "county". So the later-imported term became a synonym for the native English word scir ([ʃiːr]) or, in Modern English, shire. Since a shire was an administrative division of the kingdom, the term "county" evolved to designate an administrative division of national government in most modern uses.

Ted Dunlap explains the role of a constitutional Sheriff vs. a political Sheriff. He's running to bring this concept to Ada County Idaho. Sheriffs should not bow to federal authorities. Until laws are challenged in the Supreme Court, some are indeed unconstitutional and citizens should be protected from the feds by the Sheriff until constitutionality is determined.
Stephen Bartlett was announced as Ada County's new sheriff Monday June 8, 2015 at a news conference at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise.

Boise, 2013 - Taxpayers and those in need of emergency medical care will benefit from a new EMS Joint Powers Agreement signed today. Ada County, the cities of Boise and Meridian, the Eagle and Kuna fire districts and the North Ada County Fire & Rescue District have agreed to work together to provide a unified approach to emergency services. The agreement means two important things for those who live, work in or visit Ada County: For Patients: By creating unified operating procedures and consistent medical protocols, Boise Valley residents can be confident that they will receive the highest level of care regardless of where their emergency occurs. For Taxpayers: Working together to provide unified emergency response will reduce waste and remove duplication in expenses --- without reduc...
I was pulled over by a Ada County deputy for a tail light out. I didn't record until after the first contact where the officer told me he would 'work with me' if I had drugs in the car and that he would bring the drug dog over if I didn't cooperate. I let him know I knew he didn't need probable cause to bring the dog over. I think that egged him on and he called in the dog. You can see it hit on the passenger side. So they decided to tear the car apart.
