John McCain
John Sidney McCain III (born August 29, 1936) is the senior United States Senator from Arizona. He was the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 United States presidential election.
McCain followed his father and grandfather, both four-star admirals, into the United States Navy, graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958. He became a naval aviator, flying ground-attack aircraft from aircraft carriers. During the Vietnam War, he was almost killed in the 1967 USS Forrestal fire. In October 1967, while on a bombing mission over Hanoi, he was shot down, seriously injured, and captured by the North Vietnamese. He was a prisoner of war until 1973. McCain experienced episodes of torture, and refused an out-of-sequence early repatriation offer. His war wounds left him with lifelong physical limitations.
He retired from the Navy as a captain in 1981 and moved to Arizona, where he entered politics. Elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982, he served two terms, and was then elected to the U.S. Senate in 1986, winning re-election easily four times, most recently in 2010. While generally adhering to conservative principles, McCain at times has had a media reputation as a "maverick" for his willingness to disagree with his party on certain issues. After being investigated and largely exonerated in a political influence scandal of the 1980s as a member of the Keating Five, he made campaign finance reform one of his signature concerns, which eventually led to the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. He is also known for his work towards restoring diplomatic relations with Vietnam in the 1990s, and for his belief that the war in Iraq should be fought to a successful conclusion. McCain has chaired the Senate Commerce Committee, opposed spending that he considered to be pork barrel, and played a key role in alleviating a crisis over judicial nominations.

USS John S. McCain (DDG-56)
USS John S. McCain (DDG-56) is an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer in the United States Navy. She is part of the Seventh Fleet, and she has her homeport at the Yokosuka Naval Base in Yokosuka, Japan.
This warship is named after John S. McCain, Sr., and John S. McCain, Jr., both Admirals in the United States Navy. John S. McCain, Sr., commanded the aircraft carrier USS Ranger, and acted as commander of the Fast Carrier Task Force during the latter stages of World War II. John S. McCain, Jr., commanded the U.S. Navy submarines USS Gunnel and USS Dentuda during World War II. Subsequently he held a number of posts, rising to Commander-in-Chief of the United States Pacific Command before retiring in 1972. These men were the grandfather and father of Senator John S. McCain III.
Construction and career
John S. McCain's keel was laid down on 3 September 1991, at the Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. The ship was launched on 26 September 1992, sponsored by Cindy McCain, the wife of Senator John McCain. McCain was commissioned on 2 July 1994, at the Bath Iron Works. The former President of the United States, George H. W. Bush, was the ceremony's principal speaker.

United States Navy
The United States Navy (USN) is the naval warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven uniformed services of the United States. The U.S. Navy is the largest, most capable navy in the world, with the highest combined battle fleet tonnage. The U.S. Navy has the world's largest aircraft carrier fleet, with ten in service, two in the reserve fleet, and three new carriers under construction. The service has 328,194 personnel on active duty and 101,199 in the Navy Reserve. It has 272 deployable combat vessels and more than 3,700 aircraft in active service as of February 2016.
The U.S. Navy traces its origins to the Continental Navy, which was established during the American Revolutionary War and was essentially disbanded as a separate entity shortly thereafter. It played a major role in the American Civil War by blockading the Confederacy and seizing control of its rivers. It played the central role in the World War II defeat of Japan. The 21st century U.S. Navy maintains a sizable global presence, deploying in such areas as East Asia, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East. It is a blue-water navy with the ability to project force onto the littoral regions of the world, engage in forward areas during peacetime, and rapidly respond to regional crises, making it an active player in U.S. foreign and defense policy.

Guided Missile
Guided Missile was a London-based independent record label set up by Paul Kearney in 1994, and active until the early 2000s. Guided Missile Records focused on releases by underground indie bands through the late 1990s, and Guided Missile continues to the present day as an events promoter, at venues such as The Lexington and, until closure, the Buffalo Bar.
A series of 'tribute' records in the early 2000s culminated in a minor UK chart hit by Diff'rent Darkness in 2003.
Guided Missile has been acclaimed as an inspiration for current UK DIY labels such as Upset the Rhythm.

McCain said he found "appalling" Trump's assertion in an interview earlier this year that the US lacked the moral standing to question Russian President Vladimir Putin's human rights abuses. "We've got a lot of killers. What do you think, our country's so innocent?" Trump said at the time.
"To state that there's some moral equivalency between an imperfect nation -- that's the United States of America -- and Vladimir Putin is appalling," McCain responded.
"And I think it's pretty clear that there's a difference between, well, aren't we killers and the guy that stood there and said, 'Mr. Gorbachev, take down this wall,'" he said, recalling Reagan's historic challenge to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev delivered in a 1987 speech at the Berlin Wall.
In contrast to Trump's posture toward Russia, Reagan "spoke out for the captive nations" under Soviet rule and gave hope to the citizens there, McCain said. "That's a pretty big difference."
McCain threatens shut down if continuing resolution is on the table
By assaulting a foundational principle of American democracy, McCain said, Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election was an act more destructive than if the US had been attacked through conventional warfare.
"It's one thing to destroy a building with a bomb or inflict damage, but if you destroy the fundamentals of a free and open society, which is what democracy is all about, you inflict incredibly heavier damage," he said.
The White House did not immediately return a request Saturday for comment on McCain's remarks.
Multiple congressional investigations and an FBI probe are underway to determine if there was any collusion between figures associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian efforts to influence the 2016 election.
But McCain was cautious when asked if he would consider any contacts between Americans and the Russians who interfered with the election to be an act of treason.
"There's one thing to have a conversation. It's another thing to plot together," he said. "But I think it would be something that that individual would have to be held accountable."
During this conversation, which also aired on CNN Saturday night, McCain, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, expressed concerns about the philosophical gulf between Trump's national security team and key members of his White House staff.
Registering his strong support for Defense Secretary James Mattis; Lt. General H.R. McMaster, Trump's national security adviser; and John F. Kelly, the Homeland Security secretary, McCain called the group "the strongest (national security team) I've seen."
But the Arizona senator said their appreciation for global institutions and America's leadership role stood in contrast with the views of his chief strategist, Steve Bannon, and policy director Stephen Miller, who are seen as the architects of Trump's neo-isolationist, "America First" rhetoric.
"I know that the President has great respect for these former military people that he has given the most important national security posts," McCain said. Yet, he added, "Everybody tells me that Mr. Bannon has his ear constantly. So there is a contradiction within this administration."
The President's foreign policy team must navigate their internal divisions while at the same time confronting "a world in incredible turmoil," McCain said. The 2008 Republican presidential nominee, who ran against Barack Obama, ascribed much of that turmoil to Obama's policies, which he termed an "unmitigated disaster."
"I am more worried about this country than I've been in my entire lifetime," he said. "We are seeing strains on the world order."

The Virginia-class attack submarine USS John Warner (SSN 785) was commissioned during a ceremony attended by more than 2,500 in its future homeport of Naval Station Norfolk, Aug. 1, 2015. Proudly displaying its motto "On a Mission to Defend Freedom," the ship is the 12th Virginia-class attack submarine to join the Navy's operating fleet. The ship's namesake is John Warner, a five-term U.S. Senator from Virginia who also served as 61st Secretary of the Navy from 1972 to 1974. His wife Jeanne is the ship's sponsor. The ship's namesake is John Warner, a five-term U.S. Senator from Virginia who also served as 61st Secretary of the Navy from 1972 to 1974. His wife Jeanne is the ship's sponsor.
Warner is also the only Secretary of the Navy who served as both an enlisted man and an officer, in both the Navy and the Marine Corps. As a Sailor during World War II he served as an electronics technician third-class petty officer, and in the Korean War he was a captain with the Marine Corps 1st Marine Air Wing serving as a Ground Communications Officer.
John Warner is the second of eight Block III Virginia-class submarines to be built. The Block III submarines are built with new Virginia Payload Tubes designed to lower costs and increase missile-firing payload possibilities. The first 10 Block I and Block II Virginia-class submarines have 12 individual 21-inch diameter vertical launch tubes able to fire Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles (TLAMS). The Block III submarines are built with two-larger 87-inch diameter tubes able to house six TLAMS each.
As the most modern and sophisticated attack submarine in the world, the submarine can operate in both littoral and deep ocean environments and presents combatant commanders with a broad and unique range of operational capabilities. John Warner is a flexible, multi-mission platform designed to carry out the seven core competencies of the submarine force: anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; delivery of special operations forces; strike warfare; irregular warfare; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and mine warfare.
The submarine is 377 feet long, has a 34-foot beam, and will be able to dive to depths greater than 800 feet and operate at speeds in excess of 25 knots submerged. It will operate for 33 years without ever refueling.
Construction on John Warner began April 29, 2009; the submarine's keel was authenticated during a ceremony on March 16, 2013; and the submarine was christened during a ceremony Sept. 6, 2014.

Thời gian qua vào mỗi đêm, chính quyền và cồn an Quỳnh Lưu đã huy động tầng lớp thanh niên, phụ nữ và con đồ, mặc áo đỏ sao vàng cờ đỏ đi khắp nơi trong địa bàn xã Sơn Hải Quỳnh Lưu, hò hét, sách nhiễu linh mục và giáo dân GX Song Ngọc, làm mất an ninh trật tự trên địa bàn, ảnh hưởng sức khỏe tới người dân. Mong mọi người chia sẻ thông tin này để lên án hành vi bẩn thỉu, đê hèn của công an Sơn Hải!
Vụ cháy khiến 50 ha rừng phòng hộ Sóc Sơn bị thiệt hại, 2.000 chiến sĩ bộ đội cùng nhiều lực lượng liên quan được huy động để chữa CHÁY Khoảng 13 giờ 30 ngày 5-6, người dân tại khu vực xóm 6 (xã Nam Sơn, huyện Sóc Sơn, Hà Nội) bất ngờ phát hiện khói và lửa xuất hiện tại khu vực rừng Sóc Sơn. Nhiều người đã thông tin cho xã để đánh kẻng báo động, sau đó, lực lượng cứu hộ đã ngay lập tức có mặt.
Đến sáng 6-6, sau 12 giờ đồng hồ nỗ lực chữa cháy, vụ hoả hoạn tại khu vực rừng phòng hộ cơ bản đã được dập tắt.
Khoảng 2.000 cán bộ chiến sỹ kết hợp với các lực lượng chuyên môn, nhân dân… đã được điều động để khống chế ngọn lửa. Ước tính khoảng 50ha rừng bị thiệt hại.

Đoàn quốc hội Hoa Kỳ do Thượng nghị sĩ John McCain dẫn đầu đã đến thăm các thủy thủ Mỹ trên tàu khu trục có tên lửa dẫn đường USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), khi tàu neo ở Cảng Quốc tế Cam Ranh hôm 2/6, theo lịch trình bảo trì thường lệ ở Việt Nam.
Giáo sư Tương Lai nhận định chuyến đi Việt Nam của ông John Mccain, cùng với tuyên bố chung sau cuộc gặp thượng đỉnh giữa Thủ tướng Việt Nam Nguyễn Xuân Phúc và Tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump tại Tòa Bạch Ốc hồi trong tuần, cho thấy hợp tác quân sự - quốc phòng giữa hai nước trong giai đoạn hiện nay rất quan trọng, trong bối cảnh Trung Quốc tiếp tục là mối đe dọa an ninh trên Biển Đông:
“Mối đe dọa lớn nhất là mối đe dọa xâm lược trên Biển Đông. Vấn đề hợp tác quân sự - việc quân đội Mỹ lưu trữ thiết bị vật tư trên lãnh thổ Việt Nam để sử dụng ngay khi cần thiết, trước nhất là các thiết bị nhân đạo – nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của tự do hàng hải, hàng không, đồng thời bày tỏ quan ngại về những tác động bất ổn, mà những hạn chế bất hợp pháp đối với tự do trên biển gây ra đối với hòa bình và thịnh vượng của khu vực châu Á – Thái Bình Dương.”
Tàu USS John S. McCain, thuộc hải đội tàu khu trục (DESRON) 15, đang thực hiện tuần tra để hỗ trợ an ninh và sự ổn định của khu vực Ấn Độ - Châu Á - Thái Bình Dương. Trong hơn 70 năm qua, Hải quân Mỹ vẫn tuần tra đều đặn khu vực Ấn Độ - Châu Á -Thái Bình Dương nhằm củng cố an ninh và hòa bình trong khu vực.
Mặt khác, đoàn quốc hội Hoa Kỳ đã đến gặp các nhà tranh đấu cho nhân quyền tại Hà Nội.
Ông Vũ Quốc Ngữ, Tổng giám đốc của tổ chức Người Bảo vệ Nhân quyền, và là thành viên của Hội Nhà báo Độc lập Việt Nam, cho VOA – Việt Ngữ biết về cuộc gặp này:
“Ông John McCain và hai thượng nghị sĩ nữa đến Việt Nam, họ mời một số nhà hoạt động xã hội đến để nắm bắt tình hình nhân quyền Việt Nam – trong đó có anh Lê Quốc Quân và tôi, và hai người nữa. Trong buổi gặp mặt chúng tôi cho họ biết tình hình nhân quyền ở Việt Nam hiện nay là rất tồi tệ - bắt bớ, đàn áp những người biểu tình ôn hòa, đánh đập những người bất đồng chính kiến, cộng đồng công giáo miền Trung bị đàn áp khi họ muốn bồi thường chính đáng lo Formosa gây ra.”
Các nhà tranh đấu còn lưu ý với thượng nghị sĩ McCain về việc Hoa Kỳ bán các thiết bị, vũ khí cho Việt Nam nên giám sát mục đích sử dụng, vì có nguồn tin gần đây cho biết dường như chính quyền tỉnh Nghệ An vào ngày 15/5 có sử dụng thiết bị LRAD dành cho cảnh sát biển – loại thiết bị loa âm thanh gây hại tai - để đối phó với những người biểu tình ôn hòa.
Luật sư nhân quyền Lê Quốc Quân viết trên Facebook sau cuộc gặp hôm 30/5 với các nghị sĩ Hoa Kỳ rằng: “Mong hãy tác động với chính phủ Việt Nam để họ thả Luật sư Nguyễn Văn Đài và Anh Trần Huỳnh Duy Thức. Thời gian qua vào mỗi đêm, chính quyền và cồn an Quỳnh Lưu đã huy động tầng lớp thanh niên, phụ nữ và con đồ, mặc áo đỏ sao vàng cờ đỏ đi khắp nơi trong địa bàn xã Sơn Hải Quỳnh Lưu, hò hét, sách nhiễu linh mục và giáo dân GX Song Ngọc, làm mất an ninh trật tự trên địa bàn, ảnh hưởng sức khỏe tới người dân. Mong mọi người chia sẻ thông tin này để lên án hành vi bẩn thỉu, đê hèn của công an Sơn Hải!
Vụ cháy khiến 50 ha rừng phòng hộ Sóc Sơn bị thiệt hại, 2.000 chiến sĩ bộ đội cùng nhiều lực lượng liên quan được huy động để chữa CHÁY Khoảng 13 giờ 30 ngày 5-6, người dân tại khu vực xóm 6 (xã Nam Sơn, huyện Sóc Sơn, Hà Nội) bất ngờ phát hiện khói và lửa xuất hiện tại khu vực rừng Sóc Sơn. Nhiều người đã thông tin cho xã để đánh kẻng báo động, sau đó, lực lượng cứu hộ đã ngay lập tức có mặt.
Đến sáng 6-6, sau 12 giờ đồng hồ nỗ lực chữa cháy, vụ hoả hoạn tại khu vực rừng phòng hộ cơ bản đã được dập tắt.
Khoảng 2.000 cán bộ chiến sỹ kết hợp với các lực lượng chuyên môn, nhân dân… đã được điều động để khống chế ngọn lửa. Ước tính khoảng 50ha rừng bị thiệt hại.

Đoàn quốc hội Hoa Kỳ do Thượng nghị sĩ John McCain dẫn đầu đã đến thăm các thủy thủ Mỹ trên tàu khu trục có tên lửa dẫn đường USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), khi tàu neo ở Cảng Quốc tế Cam Ranh hôm 2/6, theo lịch trình bảo trì thường lệ ở Việt Nam.
Giáo sư Tương Lai nhận định chuyến đi Việt Nam của ông John Mccain, cùng với tuyên bố chung sau cuộc gặp thượng đỉnh giữa Thủ tướng Việt Nam Nguyễn Xuân Phúc và Tổng thống Mỹ Donald Trump tại Tòa Bạch Ốc hồi trong tuần, cho thấy hợp tác quân sự - quốc phòng giữa hai nước trong giai đoạn hiện nay rất quan trọng, trong bối cảnh Trung Quốc tiếp tục là mối đe dọa an ninh trên Biển Đông:
“Mối đe dọa lớn nhất là mối đe dọa xâm lược trên Biển Đông. Vấn đề hợp tác quân sự - việc quân đội Mỹ lưu trữ thiết bị vật tư trên lãnh thổ Việt Nam để sử dụng ngay khi cần thiết, trước nhất là các thiết bị nhân đạo – nhấn mạnh tầm quan trọng của tự do hàng hải, hàng không, đồng thời bày tỏ quan ngại về những tác động bất ổn, mà những hạn chế bất hợp pháp đối với tự do trên biển gây ra đối với hòa bình và thịnh vượng của khu vực châu Á – Thái Bình Dương.”
Tàu USS John S. McCain, thuộc hải đội tàu khu trục (DESRON) 15, đang thực hiện tuần tra để hỗ trợ an ninh và sự ổn định của khu vực Ấn Độ - Châu Á - Thái Bình Dương. Trong hơn 70 năm qua, Hải quân Mỹ vẫn tuần tra đều đặn khu vực Ấn Độ - Châu Á -Thái Bình Dương nhằm củng cố an ninh và hòa bình trong khu vực.
Mặt khác, đoàn quốc hội Hoa Kỳ đã đến gặp các nhà tranh đấu cho nhân quyền tại Hà Nội.
Ông Vũ Quốc Ngữ, Tổng giám đốc của tổ chức Người Bảo vệ Nhân quyền, và là thành viên của Hội Nhà báo Độc lập Việt Nam, cho VOA – Việt Ngữ biết về cuộc gặp này:
“Ông John McCain và hai thượng nghị sĩ nữa đến Việt Nam, họ mời một số nhà hoạt động xã hội đến để nắm bắt tình hình nhân quyền Việt Nam – trong đó có anh Lê Quốc Quân và tôi, và hai người nữa. Trong buổi gặp mặt chúng tôi cho họ biết tình hình nhân quyền ở Việt Nam hiện nay là rất tồi tệ - bắt bớ, đàn áp những người biểu tình ôn hòa, đánh đập những người bất đồng chính kiến, cộng đồng công giáo miền Trung bị đàn áp khi họ muốn bồi thường chính đáng lo Formosa gây ra.”
Các nhà tranh đấu còn lưu ý với thượng nghị sĩ McCain về việc Hoa Kỳ bán các thiết bị, vũ khí cho Việt Nam nên giám sát mục đích sử dụng, vì có nguồn tin gần đây cho biết dường như chính quyền tỉnh Nghệ An vào ngày 15/5 có sử dụng thiết bị LRAD dành cho cảnh sát biển – loại thiết bị loa âm thanh gây hại tai - để đối phó với những người biểu tình ôn hòa.
Luật sư nhân quyền Lê Quốc Quân viết trên Facebook sau cuộc gặp hôm 30/5 với các nghị sĩ Hoa Kỳ rằng: “Mong hãy tác động với chính phủ Việt Nam để họ thả Luật sư Nguyễn Văn Đài và Anh Trần Huỳnh Duy Thức.
