This 1892 patented Pearson's Nailer restoration was fairly straight-forward. It was made by the Pearson Mfg. Co from 1908-1921. This restoration was mainly aesthetic as the nailer was functioning previously.
I decided to paint the nailer in its original bright blue colour. There was a larger version that was painted red. In most, but not all photos of these nailers online, the cast iron parts seem to be a darker blue than the tin parts. I tried to replicate that look by "staining" the blue paint with some black plaint. I could have used a darker blue paint, but this technique seemed to match what I have seen online.
I also decided to place the writing on the other side of the nailer than where it originally was. This was done because the original side is heavily dented and the writing would not show up as well. In the future, I may add some gold pin-striping as well along the raised lines in the tin parts, as I have seen this is some, but not all photos online.
These nailers were mainly used by roofers to set the nail for driving in by a hammer later on. I'm impressed by how well this tool still works.

The Restoration of Elvis Presley BMW 507

One of the highlights of the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach is the presentation of the BMW 507 that was once driven by Elvis Presley during his term of military service in Germany and can now be seen for the first time by the general public following its complete restoration.
For many decades, the roadster of the “King of Rock’n’Roll” was regarded as a mystery on wheels. Not until after painstaking investigation by the US journalist Jackie Jouret and enquiries made by experts from the archives of BMW Group Classic was it possible to solve the mystery of the identity and whereabouts of the car. For many years, Elvis’s BMW 507 had been “dormant” at a warehouse in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco, and thus not far from the location at which its rebirth is now being celebrated. And it has an eventful history in which the “King” played the most crucial role, but not the only major one.
It begins at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, where the BMW 507 was exhibited in September 1957, having being produced shortly beforehand. The works driver Hans Stuck, also known as the “Bergmeister”, then completed several races in the white two-seater car, which was also used for press test drives and film shots. In December 1958, a BMW dealer in Frankfurt mediated the sale of the roadster to probably the most prominent US soldier ever stationed in Germany. Elvis Presley drove the BMW 507 until he finished his term of service in March 1960. After that, the car, which by then had been painted red, was transferred to the USA, where it changed owners several times and was converted for further racing use, only to soon be forgotten.
In 1968, engineer Jack Castor bought the car and decided to put it into storage for restoration at a later time. By means of the chassis number 70079, the avid classic car enthusiast was able to see the connection to Hans Stuck. However, it wasn’t until many years later that this connection introduced him to BMW Group Classic, and a comparison with historic documents then gave him the certainty that not only the “Bergmeister”, but also the “King” had once sat behind the wheel of his BMW 507. Castor and BMW Group Classic concluded an agreement that regulated not only the purchase, but also restoration of the roadster in Munich. Thus, around two years of restoration work produced a reconstruction that has preserved as much of the original substance as possible and restored the overall vehicle to its former condition in the year 1958.
In Pebble Beach, the BMW 507 will shine in Feather White, with a black and white interior, just like when it was sold to Elvis Presley. This was Jack Castor’s wish and is now his legacy, as the keeper of Elvis’s BMW 507 died in November 2014 shortly before restoration work commenced, which in addition to the “King’s” roadster also comprises a further project – Castor owned a second BMW 507. The blue car bearing the chassis number 70089 had also waited for many years alongside Elvis Presley’s car to be rediscovered. Likewise, this car was completely restored under the direction of BMW Group Classic and will now be handed over at the start of the Concours d’Elegance to Ron Gilmartin, a long-time friend and companion of Jack Castor.
Many other vehicles being displayed in Pebble Beach take an important place in the 100-year history of BMW. These include the BMW 328 Touring Coupe, in which Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Bäumer became overall winners of the Mille Miglia in1940, and the BMW 328, also known as the “Bügelfalten-Roadster” and already the fastest in its class in the same race in 1938. Furthermore, the general public will be able to see the first and latest models to date in the BMW Art Cars Collection. Both the BMW 3.0 CSL designed by Alexander Calder in 1975 and the BMW M3 GT2 from 2010, upon which Jeff Koons left his artistic handwriting, were on the starting grid in the 24-hour race at Le Mans. The presentation of the concept car BMW 2002 Homage underscores the ongoing effective impact of the BMW 02 introduced 50 years ago. This is complemented by a reunion with many successful models on two wheels. An early version of the BMW R 32 reminds us of BMW’s debut as a motorcycle manufacturer in the year 1923, and numerous other models describe motorcycle development up to the present day.

Author say, "that recently picked up a 1993 Rx-7 R1 this spring and have been working on it continuously since then (had it shipped from out of state). Plan is to shave the bay, decide on a widebody (already have the burnout kit but cant decide if I want to run it or not), and decide on a motor (already have the ls1 and t56).
Not exactly sure on mileage because carfax shows 18x,xxx as the last mileage and the cluster isn't original to the car and shows 8x,xxx. I wasn't worried about mileage though since nearly everything was replaced (and I won't feel bad driving the car a lot and racking up the miles). Previous owner rebuilt the motor, made a vmount setup, installed ID 750/1000cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, rebuilt differential, all new superpro bushings, os giken twin plate clutch, stance coilovers, haltech ps1000, 3" exhaust, ST sway bars, and a few other things. It came with a spare transmission and stock turbos as well. Oh, and it has work xt7 wheels which I will be selling here soon. I picked it up for what I thought was a steal, but upon getting the car here I feel it was still a good deal, but not as good as I thought. ( I knew I was taking a chance buying it without being able to see it) "

This tool restoration is of a BeMaCo Rapid Saw Set from the late 1940s. I was surprised to find that most parts were made out of aluminum. This thing must have been pricey back then!
It really needed a good cleaning and some de-rusting on the steel parts. The electric motor needed to be rewired and I wish I had time to replace the original wiring, but it is now in original dangerous condition and I'll fix it when I find the foot pedal power switch. I like the trip-hammer action and I wish it came with the original foot pedal, as that would have made operating this saw set much easier.
I hope that someone can find the manual as I was taking a guess at how this machine works.
The parts cleaned up very nicely and I am glad to have these machine in case I need it.

In this video i’m going to show how i restored an old beat up hammer to a new and custom made one with a personal touch.
Unfortunately the Heat treating of this hammer is not covered by this video as the camera died. The way it was done was by heating the hammer head to a soft red glow and then cooling it quickly in a bucket of water. After that i used a stove to temper the steel in order to not make it break if there were a miss hit on a hardened steel surface.

BMW 507
The BMW 507 is a roadster that was produced by BMW from 1956 to 1959. Initially intended to be exported to the United States at a rate of thousands per year, it ended up being too expensive, resulting in a total production figure of 252 cars and heavy losses for BMW.
Development
The BMW 507 was conceived by U.S. automobile importer Max Hoffman who, in 1954, persuaded the BMW management to produce a roadster version of the BMW 501 and BMW 502 saloons to fill the gap between the expensive Mercedes-Benz 300SL and the cheap and underpowered Triumph and MG sports cars. BMW engineer Fritz Fiedler was assigned to design the rolling chassis, using existing components wherever possible. Early body designs by Ernst Loof were rejected by Hoffman, who found them to be unappealing. In November 1954, at Hoffman's insistence, BMW contracted designer Albrecht von Goertz to design the BMW 503 and the 507.
Thirty-four Series I 507s were built in 1956 and early 1957. These cars had welded aluminium fuel tanks of 110 litres (29.1 US gal) capacity behind the rear seats. These large tanks limited both boot space and passenger space, and gave off the smell of fuel inside the car when the hood was erected or the hardtop was in place. Series II and later 507s had fuel tanks of 66 litres (17.4 US gal) capacity under the boot, shaped around a space for the spare tyre to fit.

Elvis Presley
Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King".

This tool restoration is of a BeMaCo Rapid Saw Set from the late 1940s. I was surprised to find that most parts were made out of aluminum. This thing must have been pricey back then! It really needed a good cleaning and some de-rusting on the steel parts. The electric motor needed to be rewired and I wish I had time to replace the original wiring, but it is now in original dangerous condition and I'll fix it when I find the foot pedal power switch. I like the trip-hammer action and I wish it came with the original foot pedal, as that would have made operating this saw set much easier. I hope that someone can find the manual as I was taking a guess at how this machine works. The parts cleaned up very nicely and I am glad to have these machine in case I need it. The way it was done was by heating the hammer head to a soft red glow and then cooling it quickly in a bucket of water. 1890s Rare Antique Nail Gun [Restoration]
This 1892 patented Pearson's Nailer restoration was fairly straight-forward. It was made by the Pearson Mfg. Co from 1908-1921. This restoration was mainly aesthetic as the nailer was functioning previously. I decided to paint the nailer in its original bright blue colour. There was a larger version that was painted red. In most, but not all photos of these nailers online, the cast iron parts seem to be a darker blue than the tin parts. I tried to replicate that look by "staining" the blue paint with some black plaint. I could have used a darker blue paint, but this technique seemed to match what I have seen online. Not exactly sure on mileage because carfax shows 18x,xxx as the last mileage and the cluster isn't original to the car and shows 8x,xxx. I wasn't worried about mileage though since nearly everything was replaced (and I won't feel bad driving the car a lot and racking up the miles). In most, but not all photos of these nailers online, the cast iron parts seem to be a darker blue than the tin parts. I tried to replicate that look by "staining" the blue paint with some black plaint. I could have used a darker blue paint, but this technique seemed to match what I have seen online. I also decided to place the writing on the other side of the nailer than where it originally was. This was done because the original side is heavily dented and the writing would not show up as well. In the future, I may add some gold pin-striping as well along the raised lines in the tin parts, as I have seen this is some, but not all photos online. These nailers were mainly used by roofers to set the nail for driving in by a hammer later on. I'm impressed by how well this tool still works. For many years, Elvis’s BMW 507 had been “dormant” at a warehouse in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco, and thus not far from the location at which its rebirth is now being celebrated. And it has an eventful history in which the “King” played the most crucial role, but not the only major one. It begins at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, where the BMW 507 was exhibited in September 1957, having being produced shortly beforehand. The works driver Hans Stuck, also known as the “Bergmeister”, then completed several races in the white two-seater car, which was also used for press test drives and film shots. In December 1958, a BMW dealer in Frankfurt mediated the sale of the roadster to probably the most prominent US soldier ever stationed in Germany. Elvis Presley drove the BMW 507 until he finished his term of service in March 1960. After that, the car, which by then had been painted red, was transferred to the USA, where it changed owners several times and was converted for further racing use, only to soon be forgotten. In 1968, engineer Jack Castor bought the car and decided to put it into storage for restoration at a later time. By means of the chassis number 70079, the avid classic car enthusiast was able to see the connection to Hans Stuck. However, it wasn’t until many years later that this connection introduced him to BMW Group Classic, and a comparison with historic documents then gave him the certainty that not only the “Bergmeister”, but also the “King” had once sat behind the wheel of his BMW 507. Castor and BMW Group Classic concluded an agreement that regulated not only the purchase, but also restoration of the roadster in Munich. Thus, around two years of restoration work produced a reconstruction that has preserved as much of the original substance as possible and restored the overall vehicle to its former condition in the year 1958. In Pebble Beach, the BMW 507 will shine in Feather White, with a black and white interior, just like when it was sold to Elvis Presley. This was Jack Castor’s wish and is now his legacy, as the keeper of Elvis’s BMW 507 died in November 2014 shortly before restoration work commenced, which in addition to the “King’s” roadster also comprises a further project – Castor owned a second BMW 507. The blue car bearing the chassis number 70089 had also waited for many years alongside Elvis Presley’s car to be rediscovered. Likewise, this car was completely restored under the direction of BMW Group Classic and will now be handed over at the start of the Concours d’Elegance to Ron Gilmartin, a long-time friend and companion of Jack Castor. Plan is to shave the bay, decide on a widebody (already have the burnout kit but cant decide if I want to run it or not), and decide on a motor (already have the ls1 and t56). Not exactly sure on mileage because carfax shows 18x,xxx as the last mileage and the cluster isn't original to the car and shows 8x,xxx. I wasn't worried about mileage though since nearly everything was replaced (and I won't feel bad driving the car a lot and racking up the miles). Previous owner rebuilt the motor, made a vmount setup, installed ID 750/1000cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, rebuilt differential, all new superpro bushings, os giken twin plate clutch, stance coilovers, haltech ps1000, 3" exhaust, ST sway bars, and a few other things. It came with a spare transmission and stock turbos as well. Oh, and it has work xt7 wheels which I will be selling here soon. I picked it up for what I thought was a steal, but upon getting the car here I feel it was still a good deal, but not as good as I thought. This thing must hav...This tool restoration is of a BeMaCo Rapid Saw Set from the late 1940s. I was surprised to find that most parts were made out of aluminum. This thing must have been pricey back then! It really needed a good cleaning and some de-rusting on the steel parts. The electric motor needed to be rewired and I wish I had time to replace the original wiring, but it is now in original dangerous condition and I'll fix it when I find the foot pedal power switch. I like the trip-hammer action and I wish it came with the original foot pedal, as that would have made operating this saw set much easier. I hope that someone can find the manual as I was taking a guess at how this machine works. The parts cleaned up very nicely and I am glad to have these machine in case I need it. Unfortunately the Heat treating of this hammer is not covered by this video as the camera died. The way it was done was by heating the hammer head to a soft red glow and then cooling it quickly in a bucket of water. After that i used a stove to temper the steel in order to not make it break if there were a miss hit on a hardened steel surface. Hope you enjoy the video. 1890s Rare Antique Nail Gun [Restoration]
This 1892 patented Pearson's Nailer restoration was fairly straight-forward. It was made by the Pearson Mfg. Co from 1908-1921. This restoration was mainly aesthetic as the nailer was functioning previously. I decided to paint the nailer in its original bright blue colour. There was a larger version that was painted red. In most, but not all photos of these nailers online, the cast iron parts seem to be a darker blue than the tin parts. I tried to replicate that look by "staining" the blue paint with some black plaint. I could have used a darker blue paint, but this technique seemed to match what I have seen online. In most, but not all photos of these nailers online, the cast iron parts seem to be a darker blue than the tin parts. I tried to replicate that look by "staining" the blue paint with some black plaint. I could have used a darker blue paint, but this technique seemed to match what I have seen online. I also decided to place the writing on the other side of the nailer than where it originally was. This was done because the original side is heavily dented and the writing would not show up as well. In the future, I may add some gold pin-striping as well along the raised lines in the tin parts, as I have seen this is some, but not all photos online. These nailers were mainly used by roofers to set the nail for driving in by a hammer later on. I'm impressed by how well this tool still works. For many decades, the roadster of the “King of Rock’n’Roll” was regarded as a mystery on wheels. Not until after painstaking investigation by the US journalist Jackie Jouret and enquiries made by experts from the archives of BMW Group Classic was it possible to solve the mystery of the identity and whereabouts of the car. For many years, Elvis’s BMW 507 had been “dormant” at a warehouse in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco, and thus not far from the location at which its rebirth is now being celebrated. And it has an eventful history in which the “King” played the most crucial role, but not the only major one. It begins at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, where the BMW 507 was exhibited in September 1957, having being produced shortly beforehand. The works driver Hans Stuck, also known as the “Bergmeister”, then completed several races in the white two-seater car, which was also used for press test drives and film shots. In December 1958, a BMW dealer in Frankfurt mediated the sale of the roadster to probably the most prominent US soldier ever stationed in Germany. Elvis Presley drove the BMW 507 until he finished his term of service in March 1960. After that, the car, which by then had been painted red, was transferred to the USA, where it changed owners several times and was converted for further racing use, only to soon be forgotten. In 1968, engineer Jack Castor bought the car and decided to put it into storage for restoration at a later time. By means of the chassis number 70079, the avid classic car enthusiast was able to see the connection to Hans Stuck. However, it wasn’t until many years later that this connection introduced him to BMW Group Classic, and a comparison with historic documents then gave him the certainty that not only the “Bergmeister”, but also the “King” had once sat behind the wheel of his BMW 507. Castor and BMW Group Classic concluded an agreement that regulated not only the purchase, but also restoration of the roadster in Munich. Thus, around two years of restoration work produced a reconstruction that has preserved as much of the original substance as possible and restored the overall vehicle to its former condition in the year 1958. In Pebble Beach, the BMW 507 will shine in Feather White, with a black and white interior, just like when it was sold to Elvis Presley. The Restoration of Elvis Presley BMW 507 Subscribe One of the highlights of the Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach is the presentation of the BMW 507 that was once driven by Elvis Presley during his term of military service in Germany and can now be seen for the first time by the general public following its complete restoration. For many decades, the roadster of the “King of Rock’n’Roll” was regarded as a mystery on wheels. Not until after painstaking investigation by the US journalist Jackie Jouret and enquiries made by experts from the archives of BMW Group Classic was it possible to solve the mystery of the identity and whereabouts of the car. For many years, Elvis’s BMW 507 had been “dormant” at a warehouse in Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco, and thus not far from the location at which its rebirth is now being celebrated. And it has an eventful history in which the “King” played the most crucial role, but not the only major one. It begins at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, where the BMW 507 was exhibited in September 1957, having being produced shortly beforehand. The works driver Hans Stuck, also known as the “Bergmeister”, then completed several races in the white two-seater car, which was also used for press test drives and film shots. In December 1958, a BMW dealer in Frankfurt mediated the sale of the roadster to probably the most prominent US soldier ever stationed in Germany. Elvis Presley drove the BMW 507 until he finished his term of service in March 1960. After that, the car, which by then had been painted red, was transferred to the USA, where it changed owners several times and was converted for further racing use, only to soon be forgotten. In 1968, engineer Jack Castor bought the car and decided to put it into storage for restoration at a later time. By means of the chassis number 70079, the avid classic car enthusiast was able to see the connection to Hans Stuck. However, it wasn’t until many years later that this connection introduced him to BMW Group Classic, and a comparison with historic documents then gave him the certainty that not only the “Bergmeister”, but also the “King” had once sat behind the wheel of his BMW 507. Castor and BMW Group Classic concluded an agreement that regulated not only the purchase, but also restoration of the roadster in Munich. Thus, around two years of restoration work produced a reconstruction that has preserved as much of the original substance as possible and restored the overall vehicle to its former condition in the year 1958. In Pebble Beach, the BMW 507 will shine in Feather White, with a black and white interior, just like when it was sold to Elvis Presley. Plan is to shave the bay, decide on a widebody (already have the burnout kit but cant decide if I want to run it or not), and decide on a motor (already have the ls1 and t56). Not exactly sure on mileage because carfax shows 18x,xxx as the last mileage and the cluster isn't original to the car and shows 8x,xxx. I wasn't worried about mileage though since nearly everything was replaced (and I won't feel bad driving the car a lot and racking up the miles). Previous owner rebuilt the motor, made a vmount setup, installed ID 750/1000cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump, rebuilt differential, all new superpro bushings, os giken twin plate clutch, stance coilovers, haltech ps1000, 3" exhaust, ST sway bars, and a few other things. It came with a spare transmission and stock turbos as well. Oh, and it has work xt7 wheels which I will be selling here soon. This thing must hav...This tool restoration is of a BeMaCo Rapid Saw Set from the late 1940s. I was surprised to find that most parts were made out of aluminum. This thing must have been pricey back then! It really needed a good cleaning and some de-rusting on the steel parts. The electric motor needed to be rewired and I wish I had time to replace the original wiring, but it is now in original dangerous condition and I'll fix it when I find the foot pedal power switch. I like the trip-hammer action and I wish it came with the original foot pedal, as that would have made operating this saw set much easier. I hope that someone can find the manual as I was taking a guess at how this machine works. The parts cleaned up very nicely and I am glad to have these machine in case I need it. Unfortunately the Heat treating of this hammer is not covered by this video as the camera died. The way it was done was by heating the hammer head to a soft red glow and then cooling it quickly in a bucket of water. After that i used a stove to temper the steel in order to not make it break if there were a miss hit on a hardened steel surface. Hope you enjoy the video.
