Felixstowe (/ˈfiːlᵻkstoʊ/) is an Edwardian seaside town and civil parish between the River Orwell and River Deben on the North Sea coast of Suffolk, England. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 23,689. It includes the Port of Felixstowe, which is the largest container port in the United Kingdom.
The nearby small town of Walton is often viewed as an extension of Felixstowe as the two towns are virtually side by side, though Walton was the original village. The quieter area nearer to the Deben River is often referred to as Old Felixstowe, there is though no formal classification of Old Felixstowe.
The 'old' Felixstowe hamlet was centred on a pub and church, having stood on the site since long before the Norman conquest of England. The early history of Felixstowe, including its Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norman and medieval defences, is told under the name of Walton, because the name Felixstowe was given retrospectively, during the 13th century, to a place which had expanded to a form beyond the boundaries of Walton alone. In the Doomsday book, for instance, only Walton is shown, and not Felixstowe, which at the time held little more than a few houses scattered over the cliff tops. Walton was a settlement on the River Orwell and in 1844 had a population of 907 compared to the relatively small Felixstowe Parish holding only 502 people. Walton had always preceded Felixstowe as a settlement as seen by the presence of Walton Castle, built by the Romans in the 3rd century, but today Walton is generally considered part of Felixstowe due to modern expansion.

Margate is a seaside town in the district of Thanet in Kent, England. It lies 38.1 miles (61.3 km) east-north-east of Maidstone, on the coast along the North Foreland and contains the areas of Cliftonville, Garlinge, Palm Bay and Westbrook.
Margate was recorded as "Meregate" in 1264 and as "Margate" in 1299, but the spelling continued to vary into modern times. The name is thought to refer to a pool gate or gap in a cliff where pools of water are found, often allowing swimmers to jump in. The cliffs of the Isle of Thanet are composed of chalk, a fossil-bearing rock.
The town's history is tied closely to the sea and it has a proud maritime tradition. Margate was a "limb" of Dover in the ancient confederation of the Cinque ports. It was added to the confederation in the 15th century. Margate has been a leading seaside resort for at least 250 years. Like its neighbour Ramsgate, it has been a traditional holiday destination for Londoners drawn to its sandy beaches. Margate had a Victorian pier which was largely destroyed by a storm in 1978.

Absolutely love this little plane - the LET-410 Turbolet, made in Czech. is a short range twin-engine aircraft. Lined up on runway 27L at Charles de Gaule Airport in Paris. Departing to the North, over-flying Chantilly, Clemont, Courcelles-Sous-Thoix, Abbeville, Foret Domaniale de Crecy. Then it's on to the English Channel with Hythe, Dover, Margate gently following the South coast Northward passing Felixstowe, Ipswich, Woodbridge, then across East Anglia to Bungay, the Norfolk Broads and making a decent down in to Norwich Airport runway 27. Folkestone pier - shore fishing spot in Kent, England. http://WhereToShoreFish.com for more angling video guides to English South East Coast shore fishing marks. Pier fishing in Kent is well served with several piers, although some of them dry out at low tide. Folkestone pier is wet at all states of the tide though and the depth chart for the pier is shown in the video, along with parking and access.

Mega ship MSC Erica sails from Colombo, Sri Lanka with a draft of 13.5 metres to the Port of Felixstowe. At almost 400 metres long and 60 metres wide the MSC Erica and her sister ships are currently the world's largest container ship by capacity. She can carry an impressive 19437TEU and can have a maximum draft of 16 metres, making her one of the largest ships to transit the Suez Canal. At around 0945am the pilot launch St Christopher, left Harwich Pilot Station with a pilot and headed out to the Sunk to board a pilot onto the MSC Erica. While heading out the pilot contacts the Svitzer Sky which was the duty tug for the morning to find out who the second tug would be so he could work out the bollard pull for the port swing. Svitzer Sky confirmed that the Svitzer Deben would be the other t...
