Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group consisted of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition as one of the progenitors of heavy metal, though their unique style drew from a wide variety of influences, including folk music.
After changing their name from the New Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin signed a deal with Atlantic Records that afforded them considerable artistic freedom. Although the group was initially unpopular with critics, they achieved significant commercial success with albums such as Led Zeppelin (1969), Led Zeppelin II (1969), Led Zeppelin III (1970), Led Zeppelin IV (1971), Houses of the Holy (1973), and Physical Graffiti (1975). Their fourth album, which features the track "Stairway to Heaven", is among the most popular and influential works in rock music, and it helped to secure the group's popularity.
A Zeppelin was a type of rigid airship named after the German Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin who pioneered rigid airship development at the beginning of the 20th century. Zeppelin's ideas were first formulated in 1874 and developed in detail in 1893. They were patented in Germany in 1895 and in the United States in 1899. After the outstanding success of the Zeppelin design, the word zeppelin came to be commonly used to refer to all rigid airships. Zeppelins were first flown commercially in 1910 by Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-AG (DELAG), the world's first airline in revenue service. By mid-1914, DELAG had carried over 10,000 fare-paying passengers on over 1,500 flights. During World War I the German military made extensive use of Zeppelins as bombers and scouts, killing over 500 people in bombing raids in Britain.

James Patrick Page, OBE (born 9 January 1944) is an English musician, songwriter, and record producer who achieved international success as the guitarist and founder of the rock band Led Zeppelin.
Page began his career as a studio session musician in London and, by the mid-1960s, had become the most sought-after session guitarist in England. He was a member of the Yardbirds from 1966 to 1968. In late 1968, he founded Led Zeppelin.
Page is widely considered to be one of the greatest and most influential guitarists of all time.Rolling Stone magazine has described Page as "the pontiff of power riffing" and ranked him number 3 in their list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". In 2010, he was ranked number two in Gibson's list of "Top 50 Guitarists of All Time" and, in 2007, number four on Classic Rock's "100 Wildest Guitar Heroes". He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice; once as a member of the Yardbirds (1992) and once as a member of Led Zeppelin (1995). Page has been described by Uncut as "rock's greatest and most mysterious guitar hero." Los Angeles Times magazine voted Jimmy Page the 2nd greatest guitarist of all time.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (Live) (HD) LYRICS: There's a lady who's sure All that glitters is gold And she's buying a stairway to heaven. When she gets there she knows If the stores are all closed With a word she can get what she came for. Ooh ooh and she's buying a stairway to heaven. There's a sign on the wall But she wants to be sure 'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings. In a tree by the brook There's a songbird who sings, Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it makes me wonder. There's a feeling I get When I look to the west, And my spirit is crying for leaving. In my thoughts I have seen Rings of smoke through the trees, And the voices of those who standing looking. Ooh, it makes me wonder, Ooh, it really makes me wonder. And ...

This song has been on my iPod since I got my first one many years ago. As I recall, I belonged to a record club when this came out and I got the LP at that time. Anyway, I have always loved the concept and the sound of this song. A little trivia. Many wonder what the voice-over guy says toward the end of the song. In researching this video I found the answer. He says "this is the sound of thousands of snapping shrimp"... hmmm wtf... anyway, this was revealed in an interview with the lead singer. - no clue. From Amazon.com: It is an announcer's voice from a sound effects record (circa 1950's). He says "This is the sound of thousands of snapping shrimp". We were looking for some cool nature sounds but the recordings were really poor so in the end we just used the announcer because he sound...
"Slowly We Rot is a film by Sam Davis. Staged as a documentary concert film (in the vein of Pink Floyd's Live At Pompeii [1972] or Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains The Same [1976]), SWR tells a story about music, technology, and entropy, with particular attention paid to media stored on disc. Following the concert film format, performance vignettes divide and are divided by narrative and documentary content. Assembled entirely of footage downloaded from YouTube, using the website clipconverter.cc, the film is narrated by Todd Rundgren, whose dialogue comes from a media-and-technology-heavy backstage interview from 1978. Artists performing or appearing in the film include Ornette Coleman, The Doors, Gentle Giant, Vanilla Fudge, Pharaoh Sanders, Stevie Wonder, and more." Slowly We Rot pr...

May 24th 1975 - Earls Court Robert spoken: I'm not upstaging anybody, am I? It is our, um, I'll cut the waffle. Tonight, there is a lad watching his dad, who is a remarkable drummer even though he's seven years old, eight years old. He is a better drummer than eighty percent of rock group drummers today and he's eight years old. So, Jason Bonham, this is your dad. John Bonham, 'Moby Dick!' MOBY DICK! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Bonham! 'Moby Dick!' Let's hear it for John Bonham! Master of the skins. The only man who can play the drums and sing at the last waltz, John Bonham! John comes from a circus family. My God, how could such a heavy group be so silly?
Led Zeppelin's infamous stop in Tampa, Florida on their tour of the US on Friday, June 3, 1977. The band came out firing on all cylinders for the short time they were on stage in front the +70,000 people at the Tampa Stadium that evening. After blazing, shredding and pummeling through very impressive performances of 'The Song Remains the Same' and 'The Rover/Sick Again', Robert Plant greeted the ecstatic crowd, lamenting on the four year absence since their record-breaking show at the Stadium on May 5, 1973. Unfortunately, partway through 'Nobody's Fault But Mine', mother nature intervened, pouring rain on the crowd, band, and the equipment, much to the fright of the crew. After the song was over, Robert relayed to the ocean of wild fans that the band were to take a 15 minute break and re...
