Hồ Chí Minh (/ˈhoʊ ˈtʃiː ˈmɪn/; Northern Vietnamese pronunciation: [ho̞˧˩ t͡ɕi˧˥ mɪŋ˧], Southern Vietnamese pronunciation: [ho̞˧˩ t͡ɕɪj˧ mɪ̈n˧]; 19 May 1890 – 2 September 1969; Chữ nôm: 胡志明), born Nguyễn Sinh Cung, also known as Nguyễn Tất Thành and Nguyễn Ái Quốc, was a Vietnamese Communist revolutionary leader who was prime minister (1945–55) and president (1945–69) of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam). He was a key figure in the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945, as well as the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Việt Cộng (NLF or VC) during the Vietnam War.
He led the Việt Minh independence movement from 1941 onward, establishing the Communist-ruled Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 and defeating the French Union in 1954 at the battle of Điện Biên Phủ. He officially stepped down from power in 1965 due to health problems, but remained a highly visible figurehead and inspiration for those Vietnamese fighting for his cause—a united, communist Vietnam—until his death. After the war, Saigon, the former capital of the Republic of Vietnam, was renamed Hồ Chí Minh City.

Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnamese: Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh; IPA: [tʰan fə ho̞˧˩ t͡ɕɪj˧ mɪ̈n˧]), formerly named and still also referred to as Saigon (Vietnamese: Sài Gòn; IPA: [sâj ɣɔ̂ŋ], French: Saïgon), is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor, an important Khmer seaport prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina and later of the independent republic of South Vietnam 1955–75. On 2 July 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after revolutionary leader Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still unofficially widely used).
The metropolitan area, which consists of the Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area, Thủ Dầu Một, Biên Hòa, Vũng Tàu and surrounding towns, is populated by more than 9 million people, making it the most populous metropolitan area in Vietnam. The city's population is expected to grow to 13.9 million in 2025.
A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.
Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process, but it also presents challenges to managing urban growth.
A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers for employment. Once a city expands far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis. In terms of population, the largest city proper is Shanghai, while the fastest-growing is Dubai.
There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

Vietnam (UK /ˌvjɛtˈnæm, -ˈnɑːm/, US i/ˌviːətˈnɑːm, -ˈnæm/;Vietnamese: Việt Nam [viət˨ næm˧]), officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV; Vietnamese: Cộng Hòa Xã Hội Chủ Nghĩa Việt Nam ( listen)), is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With an estimated 90.5 million inhabitants as of 2014, it is the world's 14th-most-populous country, and the eighth-most-populous Asian country. The name Vietnam translates as "Southern Viet" (synonymous with the much older term Nam Viet); it was first officially adopted in 1802 by Emperor Gia Long, and was adopted again in 1945 with the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam under Ho Chi Minh. The country is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodia to the southwest, and Malaysia across the South China Sea to the southeast. Its capital city has been Hanoi since the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1975.

Ho Chi Minh City, on the southern tip of Vietnam, is one of South East Asia’s emerging boom cities. Still affectionately known by many as Saigon, this is Vietnam’s largest city and its economic engine room. Ho Chi Minh City has an irrepressible soul and an entrepreneurial energy that hums day and night. Despite almost a century of colonialism and brutal conflict, today this city is renowned for its warm hospitality, which even extends to former foes. A youthful enthusiasm flows through this city, just like the stream of scooters, motorbikes and cars that flow endlessly through its chaotic streets. In Ho Chi Minh City, it feels as though the future has arrived… and yet the past is never far away. Wide boulevards built during the French colonial era are lined with cutting edge skyscrapers...

Among many videos of interviewing Ho Chi Minh 1964, this video is the best version with English translation done by a French.

Une journaliste française interview Ho Chi Minh, le président du Vietnam
This is incomplete interviewing of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the man led Vietnam People Army to glorious Dien Bien Phu over French Army in 1954. However, this short movie (around 1964) is very interesting to understand more about Vietnam. Translated by a French, synchronized by a Vietnamese :))

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is an amazing up and coming city. This time lapse is a culmination of 10,000 RAW images and multiple shoots capturing some of the cities relentless energy and pace of change. Everyone who has visited Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam knows part of the magic (love it or hate it) is in the traffic. Ever since I first set foot in HCMC I have been captivated by the cities energy. Saigon is a city on the move unlike anything I have experienced before which I wanted to capture and share. Chung’s work often takes the form of participatory workshops in which the artist uses maps and cartography as a medium for young refugees to think about their experiences. “As refugees, some of them might have gone through horrific journeys … To be able to be reflective and put their minds together is not an easy task. Especially if you are in a situation where you are uncertain about tomorrow, about what the future holds for you.” Herself a refugee from the Vietnam War, Chung has worked extensively with the conflict that affected her family and people. And while there are plenty of versions of this conflict being told – the American, the South Vietnamese and the North Vietnamese version – Chung points out that the war stories are rarely those of the people actually affected by the confl...
World Architecture Festival 2012: Vietnamese architect Vo Trong Nghia won two awards at the World Architecture Festival and in this second interview he discusses how "green buildings" that use less energy are the future of architecture in Vietnam, like his naturally ventilated Binh Duong School that won the schools category. "We, the Vietnamese, need to think about climate change, so we should make a house, a school, a building using less energy," says Nghia, as he explains how the rising sea levels caused by climate change are a frequent cause of flooding to the country. The architect describes how Binh Duong School was designed without air conditioning in the classrooms. Instead, vertical louvres and perforated screens covering the facade allow air to flow freely across the external co...

In 1988, Tiana Alexandra Silliphant defied the U.S. Trade Embargo and returned to Vietnam. She was the first American filmmaker to enter Vietnam after the war. Her father, the former Director of Press for the Southern regime of President Diem, warned Tiana that she would be "eaten for breakfast" by the Northern communist leaders if she dared to visit her former homeland. While there, Tiana wrote a poem of reconciliation to the Northern leaders, and was welcomed to meet them. Tiana met with Prime Minister Pham Van Dong, and Diplomat Le Duc Tho, who declined the Nobel Peace Prize that was accepted by Henry Kissinger. Tiana was also invited to visit General Vo Nguyen Giap, Ho Chi Minh's military mastermind who was credited with victory against the French and the Americans in the Indochina an...
THE PKK IS A MARXIST-LENINIST AND STALINIST COMMUNIST ORGANIZATION The PKK terror going on in the southeast of Turkey today is actually communist terror in the flesh. Statements by the head of the separatist organization make this perfectly clear. For example, in his message to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the founding of the separatist organization, its leader said: “As the best answer to those who say, ‘Socialism has collapsed, communism has collapsed’ we are saying, ‘On the contrary, THE MOST POWERFUL, TRUEST AND GREATEST FORM OF COMMUNISM HAS TAKEN PLACE IN THE PKK.’” A speech on May 1, 1982, represents one of the many occasions on which the leader of the separatist organization openly states that the PKK is a Marxist-Leninist organization: "No matter what unsuitable conditio...
