The Cab is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. Their debut album, Whisper War, was released on April 29, 2008. They have been called "The Band You Need to Know 2008" by Alternative Press magazine. They were also featured in the '100 Bands You Need To Know in 2010' by the magazine and were one of the three bands featured on the cover page, along with Never Shout Never and Hey Monday. Their second album Symphony Soldier was released on August 23, 2011, with its first single "Bad" released to iTunes July 11, 2011 and announced by the band on July 18. The Cab funded the entire album by themselves and left their Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance label, self-releasing Symphony Soldier. AbsolutePunk gave an extremely positive review with a rating of 95%, calling the album a "masterpiece." The pre-orders in the band's webstore featured eleven packages, ranging from $10 to $9,999.Symphony Soldier is digitally available on iTunes, and only available as physical CDs from the band's webstore. The band's latest work, Lock Me Up EP, was released on April 29th, 2014.

Symphony Soldier

Symphony Soldier is the second studio album by American rock band The Cab. It was released on August 23, 2011 as the follow-up to their first album Whisper War in 2008.

The album's first single, "Bad", was released to iTunes on July 11, 2011 and was announced by the band on July 18; a music video was later released. The album received critical praise, with AbsolutePunk giving 'it a positive review with a rating of 95%, calling the album a "masterpiece." The album art was revealed on July 19.

Ian Crawford, the group's former lead guitarist, played guitar for the album. With most music and lyrics written by band members, guest artists include Pete Wentz and John Feldmann co-writing "Grow Up and Be Kids" and "Endlessly" co-written with Bruno Mars.

Release

The album was originally released independently following the group's departure from Fueled by Ramen/Decaydance Records. The Cab funded the entire album, with lead vocalist Alexander DeLeon Tweeting "we paid for it all on our own and refused to take no for an answer."

Nazar battu

A Nazar battu (Hindustani: नज़र बट्टू or نظر بٹو) is an icon, charm bracelet, tattoo or other object or pattern used in North India and Pakistan to ward-off the evil eye (or nazar).

Forms

A nazarbattu is often an intentional blemish or flaw that is introduced to prevent perfection. For instance, a black mark might be made on the face or neck of a loved one. In houses, a deliberate flaw might be included in the otherwise-perfect physical appearance of the house. In expensive items such as carpets or saris, a deliberate coloring or stitching flaw is sometimes created.Amulets - some resembling the Turkish nazar boncuğu and others which are threads, sometimes with a taveez attached (a small cylinder that contains a prayer verse) - are common in the region. Some nazar battu amulets are region specific, for instance silver-mounted leopard nails which are used in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh state.

Although it doesn't involve a specific nazar battu, it is customary in the region for mothers to lightly spit at their children (usually ritualistically to the side of the children rather than directly at them) to imply a sense of disparagement and imperfection that protects them from nazar. Children are also marked with a black spot on the cheek. Excessive admiration, even from well-meaning people, is believed attract the evil eye, so this is believed to protect children from nazar that could be caused by their own mothers' "excessive" love of them.
