Man
A man is a male human. The term man is usually reserved for an adult male, with the term boy being the usual term for a male child or adolescent. However, the term man is also sometimes used to identify a male human, regardless of age, as in phrases such as "men's basketball".
Like most other male mammals, a man's genome typically inherits an X chromosome from his mother and a Y chromosome from his father. The male fetus produces larger amounts of androgens and smaller amounts of estrogens than a female fetus. This difference in the relative amounts of these sex steroids is largely responsible for the physiological differences that distinguish men from women. During puberty, hormones which stimulate androgen production result in the development of secondary sexual characteristics, thus exhibiting greater differences between the sexes. However, there are exceptions to the above for some intersex and transgender men.
Etymology
The English term "man" is derived from a Proto-Indo-European root *man- (see Sanskrit/Avestan manu-, Slavic mǫž "man, male"). More directly, the word derives from Old English mann. The Old English form had a default meaning of "adult male" (which was the exclusive meaning of wer), though it could also signify a person of unspecified gender. The closely related Old English pronoun man was used just as it is in Modern German to designate "one" (e. g., in the saying man muss mit den Wölfen heulen). The Old English form is derived from Proto-Germanic *mannz, "human being, person", which is also the etymon of German Mann "man, husband" and man "one" (pronoun), Old Norse maðr, and Gothic manna. According to Tacitus, the mythological progenitor of the Germanic tribes was called Mannus. *Manus in Indo-European mythology was the first man, see Mannus, Manu (Hinduism).

John Varvatos
John Varvatos is an American contemporary menswear designer.
Biography
The Varvatos family is originally from the village of Poulata on the Greek island of Cefalonia. John Varvatos was born in Detroit and grew up in Allen Park. He attended Allen Park High School.
Varvatos joined Polo Ralph Lauren in 1983. He then moved on to Calvin Klein in 1990 where he was appointed head of menswear design and oversaw the launch of the men's collection and the cK brand. During his time at Calvin Klein, Varvatos pioneered a type of men's undergarment called boxer briefs, a hybrid of boxer shorts and briefs. Made famous by a series of 1992 print ads featuring Mark Wahlberg, they have been called "one of the greatest apparel revolutions of the century." Of their creation Varvatos said in 2010, “We just cut off a pair of long johns and thought, this could be cool ...".
In 1995, Varvatos returned to Ralph Lauren as head of menswear design for all Polo Ralph Lauren brands and created the Polo Jeans Company.

Denim
Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-facedtwill textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces the familiar diagonal ribbing of the denim that distinguishes it from cotton duck (a linen canvas).
It is a characteristic of most indigo denim that only the warp threads are dyed, whereas the weft threads remain plain white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the textile then shows the blue warp threads and the other side shows the white weft threads. This is why blue jeans are white on the inside. The indigo dyeing process, in which the core of the warp threads remains white, creates denim's fading characteristics, which are unique compared to every other textile.
Etymology and origin
The name "denim" derives from French serge de Nîmes, meaning "serge from Nîmes".

NationalDefence Bureau, New Delhi, 07 April 2017 President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, awarded Shaurya Chakra to 4 Indian Army soldiers including 2 majors, 1 captain and 1 paratrooper here in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on 6 March. Paratrooper Abdul Qayum was Scout and Sniper during operation against terrorist’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir. During the operation, Paratrooper Abdul Qayum as a Scout, led the troop. Having safely led the Party close to the hideout, he engaged the sentry through the bunker loophole initiating the strike on the terrorist’s hideout. Unfazed by the heavy retaliatory fire directed towards him, he along with his buddy ensuring success of the daring assault. He then assumed his role as scout leading a safe return of the party. Paratroopers Abdul Qayum displayed raw courage under fire, exemplary devotion to duty, determination and act of gallantry while ensuring destruction of terrorist’s hideout, inflicting heavy casualties to terrorists and preventing own casualties. President of India, Pranab Mukherjee recently had awarded Major Rohit Suri with Kirti Chakra and Naib Subedar Vijay Kumar with Shaurya Chakra on 20 March for the brave act displayed during 29 September surgical strikes in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) Major Rajat Chandra was tasked to undertake close surveillance of the terrorist’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir. The information gained by his squad proved decision in planning and effective destruction of the terrorist’s hideout. Subsequently, the officer led the assault group which was tasked to destroy the heavily fortified hideout. Diplaying nerves of steel and indomitable spirit, he closed in 75 meter of the terrorist’s hideout and destroyed it thereby killing two terrorists During the action his squad came under effective automatic fire from automatic weapons located nearby. Sensing danger to his squad, he immediately changed his position by crawling under terrorist’s fire and closed onto the terrorist’s position and eliminated one more terrorist silencing the automatic weapon. Major Rajat Chandra exhibited inspirational combat leadership, raw courage, dogged determination and selfless devotion to duty in the service of the nation. Major Deepak Kumar Upadhyay was leader of the group which executed an impeccable operation against the terrorists hideout in Jammu and Kashmir. Having sited the Support Group, Major Deepak Kumar Upadhyay led an assault party for a daring assault on the terrorist hideout. Despite heavy retaliation by terrorirts, he continued engaging them while motivating his troops to destroy the hideout. Inspired by his conspicuous gallantry, grit and raw aggression, his men des, despite being outnumbered, attacked the terrorists with renewed aggression, stunning them into a state of psychological paralysis. Having successfully accomplished the mission, he ensured a swift disengagement for his troops. Major Deepak Kumar Upadhyay displayed awe inspiring courage, leadership, decisiveness and act of gallantry under fire while ensuring destruction of a terrorist hideout and inflicting heavy casualities to the terrorists, without any casualities to his troops. Captain Ashutosh Kumar was part of the sub squad, which was tasked to chose into the terrorist’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir and carry out the assault He sneaked in close to the hideout using cover of darkness and folds of ground and positioned hiself in a concealed location. He brough down accurate fire and neutralized two terrorists. After the initial firefight his squad repositioned to cover the track leading to the village from the hideout. He kept a close watch on the target to prevent any terrorist escape and reinforcement in/ out of the area. During the ongoing firefight, he saw two terrorists escaping from the target. He directed his buddy to bring down accurate grenade launcher fire on their escape route following him to intercept and neutralize both the terrorists at close quarter. With his decisive thinking, astute resolve and courage beyond call of duty, the officer eliminated four terrorists and ensured no terrorist escaped from the hideout location. Captain Ashutosh Kumar displayed audacity in face of fire, indomitable resolve, dauntless courage and extraordinary valour. President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, awarded Shaurya Chakra to 4 Indian Army soldiers including 2 majors, 1 captain and 1 paratrooper here in a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on 6 March.
Paratrooper Abdul Qayum was Scout and Sniper during operation against terrorist’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the operation, Paratrooper Abdul Qayum as a Scout, led the troop. Having safely led the Party close to the hideout, he engaged the sentry through the bunker loophole initiating the strike on the terrorist’s hideout. Unfazed by the heavy retaliatory fire directed towards him, he along with his buddy ensuring success of the daring assault. He then assumed his role as scout leading a safe return of the party.
Paratroopers Abdul Qayum displayed raw courage under fire, exemplary devotion to duty, determination and act of gallantry while ensuring destruction of terrorist’s hideout, inflicting heavy casualties to terrorists and preventing own casualties.
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee recently had awarded Major Rohit Suri with Kirti Chakra and Naib Subedar Vijay Kumar with Shaurya Chakra on 20 March for the brave act displayed during 29 September surgical strikes in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)
Major Rajat Chandra was tasked to undertake close surveillance of the terrorist’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir. The information gained by his squad proved decision in planning and effective destruction of the terrorist’s hideout.
Subsequently, the officer led the assault group which was tasked to destroy the heavily fortified hideout. Diplaying nerves of steel and indomitable spirit, he closed in 75 meter of the terrorist’s hideout and destroyed it thereby killing two terrorists During the action his squad came under effective automatic fire from automatic weapons located nearby. Sensing danger to his squad, he immediately changed his position by crawling under terrorist’s fire and closed onto the terrorist’s position and eliminated one more terrorist silencing the automatic weapon.
Major Rajat Chandra exhibited inspirational combat leadership, raw courage, dogged determination and selfless devotion to duty in the service of the nation.
Major Deepak Kumar Upadhyay was leader of the group which executed an impeccable operation against the terrorists hideout in Jammu and Kashmir.
Having sited the Support Group, Major Deepak Kumar Upadhyay led an assault party for a daring assault on the terrorist hideout. Despite heavy retaliation by terrorirts, he continued engaging them while motivating his troops to destroy the hideout. Inspired by his conspicuous gallantry, grit and raw aggression, his men des, despite being outnumbered, attacked the terrorists with renewed aggression, stunning them into a state of psychological paralysis. Having successfully accomplished the mission, he ensured a swift disengagement for his troops.
Major Deepak Kumar Upadhyay displayed awe inspiring courage, leadership, decisiveness and act of gallantry under fire while ensuring destruction of a terrorist hideout and inflicting heavy casualities to the terrorists, without any casualities to his troops.
Captain Ashutosh Kumar was part of the sub squad, which was tasked to chose into the terrorist’s hideout in Jammu and Kashmir and carry out the assault He sneaked in close to the hideout using cover of darkness and folds of ground and positioned hiself in a concealed location.
He brough down accurate fire and neutralized two terrorists. After the initial firefight his squad repositioned to cover the track leading to the village from the hideout. He kept a close watch on the target to prevent any terrorist escape and reinforcement in/ out of the area. During the ongoing firefight, he saw two terrorists escaping from the target. He directed his buddy to bring down accurate grenade launcher fire on their escape route following him to intercept and neutralize both the terrorists at close quarter.
With his decisive thinking, astute resolve and courage beyond call of duty, the officer eliminated four terrorists and ensured no terrorist escaped from the hideout location. Captain Ashutosh Kumar displayed audacity in face of fire, indomitable resolve, dauntless courage and extraordinary valour.

What is amazing are the US Army Soldiers who not only are also affected by the blast (one is knocked down and dazed) but they bounce right back up, and start giving this soldier first aid in the field that saves his life. **WARNING THIS VIDEO CONTAINS GRAPHIC FIELD MEDICAL PROCEDURES** This is the full video of the ISAF soldier who is gravely injured when he steps on a landmine in Afghanistan. What is amazing are the US Army Soldiers who not only are also affected by the blast (one is knocked down and dazed) but they bounce right back up, and start giving this soldier first aid in the field that saves his life. Amazing medical care in the field is what this video portrays. Only 20 minutes after the incident the soldier is airlifted to a medical facility! The Soldeirs who rendered the aid are amazing and saved this ISAF members life.
I can only Identify two of the three soldiers that give life saving aid to this Afghan soldier. SFC Metz with the 101st Airborne and I think Spc. (?) Harris (sorry if I got the rank wrong). I could not ID the soldeir who's helmet cam captured this whole thing.
What a testiment to the training, equipment and especially the soldeirs themselves who care for this injured soldier. They are a credit to their units and to the US Army and military as a whole. SFC Metz was knocked down and dazed by the explosion, but gets right back up and renders the aid needed to keep this soldier alive! Great job to all involved.

This vintage movie – originally titled as "Men of the Forest" – is a dramatized documentary film on the daily lives of loggers in 1950s Georgia. Logging is the cutting, skidding, on-site processing, and loading of trees or logs onto trucks or skeleton cars.
In forestry, the term logging is sometimes used in a narrow sense concerning the logistics of moving wood from the stump to somewhere outside the forest, usually a sawmill or a lumber yard. However, in common usage, the term may be used to indicate a range of forestry or silviculture activities.
Clearcut logging is not necessarily considered a type of logging but a harvesting or silviculture method, and is simply called clearcutting or block cutting. In the forest products industry logging companies may be referred to as logging contractors, with the smaller, non-union crews referred to as "gyppo loggers."
Cutting trees with the highest value and leaving those with lower value, often diseased or malformed trees, is referred to as high grading. It is sometimes called selective logging, and confused with selection cutting, the practice of managing stands by harvesting a proportion of trees.

When loggers were forced to move away from the water and inland due to lack of trees near the water they used horses and oxen to haul their cut wood through the forest. Next came log flumes, which were essentially water filled troughs that helped guide logs down the stream and were tied together like a raft.
Tools such as chainsaws and handsaws were used and eventually harvesting machines became the main way of logging trees; this machine is called a feller buncher and can quickly cut and gather trees. The logs were then transported to mills and cut into lumber and other products and then exported to a variety of places including locations as far away as China and Australia.
Over the years, logging has become incredibly controversial due to the concern of environmental sustainability and deforestation but it’s important to realize that there are as many pros as there are cons when it comes to logging. However, the United States is still the most established and leading producer of lumber and it is a global business that is extremely important to the economy around us. The timber harvested each year provides raw materials our nation needs to create the goods and services consumers all over want and need.

This vintage movie – originally titled as "Men of the Forest" – is a dramatized documentary film on the daily lives of loggers in 1950s Georgia. It tells the story of an African-American family that works hard to save money for a power saw. It also explains timber harvest techniques and process. The film was created in 1952 by the United States Information Service (USIS) and intended for foreign audiences.

As a bright schoolboy from a loving, middle-class family Ben Rogers was expected to make a success of his life. Raised in a quiet, picturesque village Ben was a Boy Scout, loved cricket, played in the school orchestra and looked forward to the annual family holiday. But despite his privileged start in life Ben found himself on the road to ruin, injecting heroin up to four times a day.
During his last months, Ben kept a video diary of his drug use and desperate attempts to come off heroin. Ravaged by the drug, Ben's body began to break down: he developed DVT and his veins were rendered so useless he had to inject into his groin. Despite his family's best efforts, Ben couldn't stop. He was haunted by, and hooked on, heroin.
Ben: Diary of A Heroin Addict charts his lies and manipulation as he mixes his next hit whilst telling his mother Anne he is clean and making a new start. It reveals Anne's anger and tears as Ben loses his fight against the drugs and shows how father Mike's unconditional love continues undiminished as they are forced to deal with their son's addiction.
Director Olly Lambert comments: "It's incredibly rare to come across such raw and unflinching footage of a man so close to an abyss. I was speechless when I first watched it. I hope the film finishes what Ben had begun: to give people a visceral understanding of the nature of addiction. It has been a privilege to try and unpick who Ben really was using the intimate legacy he's left behind."
