In the heart of Houston is a renowned National Championship soccer club distinct from all other local soccer clubs. The Houstonians Futbol Club for Urban Youth Soccer, Inc. was founded in 1998. The Houstonians FC has cultivated inner city youth into productive and dynamic citizens in the City of Houston by mentoring and training through the sport of soccer. However, it is becoming more and more difficult to complete in todays soccer business. Currently permitting City Parks, the Houstonians Futbol Club is on a mission to fund their own soccer complex. Houston
Houston (
i/ˈhjuːstən/ HYOO-stən) is the most populous city in Texas and the fourth most populous city in the United States. With a census-estimated 2014 population of 2.239 million people, within a land area of 599.6 square miles (1,553 km2), it also is the largest city in the Southern United States, as well as the seat of Harris County. It is the principal city of Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land, which is the fifth most populated metropolitan area in the United States.
Houston was founded in 1836 on land near the banks of Buffalo Bayou (now known as Allen's Landing) and incorporated as a city on June 5, 1837. The city was named after former General Sam Houston, who was president of the Republic of Texas and had commanded and won at the Battle of San Jacinto 25 miles (40 km) east of where the city was established. The burgeoning port and railroad industry, combined with oil discovery in 1901, has induced continual surges in the city's population. In the mid-twentieth century, Houston became the home of the Texas Medical Center—the world's largest concentration of healthcare and research institutions—and NASA's Johnson Space Center, where the Mission Control Center is located.

As long as you have a good map and you allow plenty of time for travel, you’ll be fine.
If driving is not an option for you, you’re not completely out of luck. Houston’s light rail system may not be the locals’ first choice for getting around, but it covers the downtown and a few other areas. It’s also inexpensive and easy to use.
But Houston is huge, so if you want to see much more than the downtown area you’re going to need another way to get around. The bus system will take you much further, though it may not always be a quick trip.
Both the light rail and the bus system are operated by the METRO system, and can be paid for with the same money card.

It’s no secret that Texas is hot, but it’s not always too bad. The winter is a pleasant time to visit. It cools down considerably but rarely freezes.
It’s also one of drier seasons -- snow and winter storms are uncommon. Winter is also when Houston receives the fewest visitors, so you won’t have to deal with crowds and it will be easier to find good deals.
Spring is another good time to visit. It will be warm, but not unbearable yet. Though there are thunderstorms, spring is generally one of the drier seasons. As an added bonus, you’ll get to see the famous Texas bluebonnets -- a beautiful blue flower that pops up all over the state in spring -- if you venture outside of the city. Like in the winter, Houston also doesn’t see as many visitors during the spring, so it’s a good time to find bargains.

Houston also has a great international food scene. For a casual gourmet meal, eat at Dolce Vita. The fresh pizzas they serve are far from run-of-the-mill.
But if you want a fancier meal, Da Marco serves fine Italian cuisine in an elegant setting.
Kata Robata is the place to go for sushi and other Japanese dishes. Only the best ingredients are used to create each innovative dish.
For Vietnamese food, Mai’s Restaurant offers an extensive menu of delicious, authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

Houston is a center of culture and education, and it has the museums to prove it.
The Menil Collection is one of the best private museums in the country. The collection includes art and antiquities from across the world, but the modern art is the best known. You can see work by artists like Warhol, Matisse, Pollock, Picasso, and many more.
Another great museum is the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. It’s Texas’ oldest art museum and it’s one of the biggest in the country. The extensive collection of art covers different styles and time periods from around the world.
The Museum of Fine Arts is also notable for the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. This is a 1920s mansion with beautiful gardens and an excellent collection of American antiques.
If art and antiques aren’t your thing, head to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Visit the Butterfly Center and be surrounded by hundreds of live butterflies and tropical plants.
Houston’s museums are also great if you’re travelling with children. There’s the Children’s Museum of Houston, which features a variety of fun exhibits to engage kids and the Health Museum which is also very kid-friendly. Interactive exhibitions teach visitors about health and the human body.

Planning a trip to Houston, Texas? Learn about the top seven museums to visit and what makes them special in this travel video. Tip: If you're traveling with kids, check out the Children's Museum of Houston, which offers a number of fun exhibits for young ones.
Houston is a center of culture and education, and it has the museums to prove it.
The Menil Collection is one of the best private museums in the country. The collection includes art and antiquities from across the world, but the modern art is the best known. You can see work by artists like Warhol, Matisse, Pollock, Picasso, and many more.
Another great museum is the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. It’s Texas’ oldest art museum and it’s one of the biggest in the country. The extensive collection of art covers different styles and time periods from around the world.
The Museum of Fine Arts is also notable for the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens. This is a 1920s mansion with beautiful gardens and an excellent collection of American antiques.
If art and antiques aren’t your thing, head to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Visit the Butterfly Center and be surrounded by hundreds of live butterflies and tropical plants.
Houston’s museums are also great if you’re travelling with children. There’s the Children’s Museum of Houston, which features a variety of fun exhibits to engage kids and the Health Museum which is also very kid-friendly. Interactive exhibitions teach visitors about health and the human body.
Since Houston has such a broad variety of museums, there should be at least one that’s worth a visit for everyone.

05. Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park
A multi-story sculptural fountain which sits opposite the south face of Williams Tower. The fountain and its surrounding park were built as an architectural amenity to the adjacent tower.
06. Arboretum and Nature Center
A non-profit arboretum and nature center. Contains over five miles (8 km) of nature trails, with forest, pond, wetland, and meadow habitats. Specialty gardens include a Hummingbird & Butterfly Island, Sensory Garden, and Wildlife Garden.
07. The Orange Show
An architectural maze of walkways, balconies, arenas and exhibits decorated with mosaics and brightly painted iron figures.
08. ArtCar Museum
A private museum of contemporary art. Its emphasis is on art cars, fine arts, and artists that are rarely seen in other cultural institutions.
09. Wet'n'Wild SplashTown
A water park opened in 1984. Operates from May till September. Occupies an area of 80 acres (320,000 m2). Has 2 pools, 9 water slides and 2 children's areas.
10. Market Square Park
A public park in Downtown. It is a central feature of the Main Street/Market Square Historic District. Donated to the city in 1854 by Augustus Allen and used as an open air produce market.
