The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971 by Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. With five number-one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums, the Eagles were one of the most successful musical acts of the 1970s. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and Hotel California, were ranked among the 20 best-selling albums in the United States according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Hotel California is ranked 37th in Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" and the band was ranked number 75 on the magazine's 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
The Eagles are one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 150 million records—100 million in the U.S. alone—including 42 million copies of Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and 32 million copies of Hotel California. "Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)" was the best selling album of the 20th century in the U.S. They are the fifth-highest-selling music act and the highest-selling American band in U.S. history.
A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes and/or alternate takes of popular songs; even new material (previously unreleased). At times a greatest hits compilation is the original release for songs that have themselves been released as a single and charted successfully.
Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.
Eagle is a common name for many large birds of prey of the family Accipitridae; it belongs to several groups of genera that are not necessarily closely related to each other.
Most of the 60 species of eagles are from Eurasia and Africa. Outside this area, just 14 species can be found – two in North America, nine in Central and South America, and three in Australia.
Eagles are large, powerfully built birds of prey, with a heavy head and beak. Even the smallest eagles, like the booted eagle (Aquila pennata) (which is comparable in size to a common buzzard (Buteo buteo) or red-tailed hawk (B. jamaicensis)), have relatively longer and more evenly broad wings, and more direct, faster flight – despite the reduced size of aerodynamic feathers. Most eagles are larger than any other raptors apart from some vultures. The smallest species of eagle is the South Nicobar serpent eagle (Spilornis klossi), at 450 g (0.99 lb) and 40 cm (16 in). The largest species are discussed below. Like all birds of prey, eagles have very large hooked beaks for tearing flesh from their prey, strong muscular legs, and powerful talons. The beak is typically heavier than that of most other birds of prey. Eagles' eyes are extremely powerful, having up to 3.6 times human acuity for the martial eagle, which enables them to spot potential prey from a very long distance. This keen eyesight is primarily attributed to their extremely large pupils which ensure minimal diffraction (scattering) of the incoming light. The female of all known species of eagles is larger than the male.
The Capital Centre (later known as USAir Arena) was an indoor arena located in Landover, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Completed in 1973, the arena sat 18,756 for basketball and 18,130 for hockey. The arena was the primary home for the Washington Bullets of the National Basketball Association, who had moved to the Washington area from Baltimore, Maryland, and the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League.
In 1993, the air carrier USAir purchased the naming rights for the building and the arena became known as USAir Arena. When the airline went through its 1996 rebranding and became US Airways, the name of the arena changed as well.
In 1997, US Airways' naming rights deal came to an end after the now-Wizards and Capitals moved to the MCI Center in downtown Washington, and the arena once again became known as Capital Centre. Most TV and radio crews broadcasting from the venue referred to it by its nickname "Cap Centre". The venue was demolished in December 2002, though its name lives on in a shopping complex located on the former site of stadium as The Boulevard at the Capital Centre.
Live Collection is the name of a Japanese 1987 four song live Bruce Springsteen EP. The EP features two tracks that did not make it into the Live/1975-85 collection: 'For You' and 'Incident on 57th Street'. The River Tour performance of 'Incident on 57th Street' released on this EP was the song's last outing until the 1999 reunion tour and has helped make this song a live favorite. The original LP included a fold-out color poster, and lyric sheet with the lyrics to all four tracks in English, and Japanese. The album has since been re-released starting in 2001 on compact disc.

Eagles -- Hotel California :: Lyrics :: Live At The Capital Centre, 1977 :: The Eagles are a band that have never disappointed with their live performances, and this one is no exception – if it isn’t the band that gets you in the end, it’ll definitely be the haunting but beautiful atmosphere that ‘Hotel California’ creates when done live! ::::::: :: On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell And I was thinking to myself, "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell" Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way There were voices down the corridor,...

The Eagles Glenn Frey and Don Henley got their start as part of the backing band for Linda Ronstadt, but when it was Linda that couldn't make it to her Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in 2014, it was Frey who ushered her in and then spoke only about her in the Rock Hall press room.
The Eagles / solo guitarist Don Felder discusses his early days learning how to play guitar.
One of the members of the legendary band "The Eagles" graces the good day stage before receiving his star on the walk of fame.
This is a half-hour documentary special I produced and directed for MTV in 1986. Tom Petty’s hand had finally healed (after he’d broken it in a fit of frustrated pique caused by his inability to complete the long-gestating “Southern Accents” album) and the band was anxious to play. We captured the Heartbreaker’s very first live show in years – an impromptu concert on the roof of the Don Ce Sar hotel in St. Petersburg (a rather obvious tribute to the Beatles' "Let It Be"). But first -- we journeyed to Tom’s hometown of Gainesville, FL and retraced the band’s early days. Charles M. Young of Rolling Stone conducted a far-reaching interview with Tom, and for good measure we visited the set of one of the new “Alice In Wonderland” – themed music videos produced for the record’s release. The sho...
This is a short film, or mini documentary, or whatever you want to call it about a good friend, and well respected artist, who is well known throughout the London Jazz scene. The video looks at Alban's “Art Jazzed Up” project which is a collaboration between Alban and several well respected jazz musicians, forming a band, which in itself was a collaboration, between American saxophonist Mike DiRubbo and several well respected London jazz musos. The footage from the Shaw Gallery was taken on the 11th of November 2013 and we shot the interview with Alban a few months later. Amazingly he manages to wear the same jumper in this footage, as he does in the footage shot nearly a year later at the Hideaway club! http://www.albanlow.co.uk/ Buy the Book/Album: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Art-Jaz...
http://www.kla.tv/7143 Late in the evening of November 13th, 2015, the French capital was shaken by an outrageous series of attacks. According to current information, 132 people died, 352 were injured, including 99 se-riously hurt. The assassins struck six times within 33 minutes in obviously coordinated attacks. Three terrorist commandos struck almost simultaneously: They randomly shot people and blew themselves up. The terror started shortly after 9 pm in front of the soccer stadium “Stade de France” where France and Germany played against each other Friday night. During the game, two suicide bombers blew themselves up in front of the stadium. Investigators reported 4 dead - three of them terrorists. The concert hall “Bataclan” was attacked shortly after, where the US band “Eagles of De...
13th December 2015, exactly one month on from the Paris attacks, crowds formed around the Bataclan Café. The street was covered with memorials both in front of the Bataclan and all across the gardens on the other side of the street. Police guarded the spot and tried to keep the traffic moving, whilst passerby's stopped to look at the many flowers, candles and messages left in memory of the victims. Others mourned their lost friends and family. IS claimed responsibility for the attack that took place on 13th November 2015 at various locations in the Paris Rive Gauche. Three suicide bombers attempted to attack a France-Germany football friendly, but were stopped as they tried to enter. Shortly after, gunmen opened fire in restaurants, bars and at the rock concert at the Bataclan Cafe (pictu...

There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.
They say that anger is just love disappointed.
They say that love is just a state of mind.
But all this fighting over who is anointed,
Oh, how can people be so blind?
There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.
Oh, they tell me there's a place over yonder
Cool water running through the burning sand.
Until we learn to love one another,
We will never reach the Promised Land.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
There's a hole in the world tonight.
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.
(There's a hole in the world tonight.)
They say that anger is just love disappointed.
(There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.)
They say that love is just a state of mind.
(There's a hole in the world tonight.)
But all this fighting over who will be anointed,
(Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow.)
Oh, how can people be so blind?
There's a hole in the world tonight.
(Hole in the world)
There's a cloud of fear and sorrow.
(Fear and sorrow)
There's a hole in the world tonight.
(Ooooh)
Don't let there be a hole in the world tomorrow (repeat three times)
