St Laurent Pop Sneakers

08 August 2017

Ok, I've been on a the sneaker train for a good amount of time now so I think it's safe to say that I'm truly enthusiastic about my most recent score, the St Laurent sneaker from Pop Shoes. I mean, yes we all need a white leather sneaker. It's a must, but bonus points for one that lights up and makes cruising the city during the day and of course, night even more fun.

For me, this is my very first pair of light up shoes and I'm pretty freaking excited about it. I definitely missed out on the barbie styles in the 90's so I'm making up for lost time with this chic adult approved pair. They're super cute right? Also, the boy have a pair of their own and truth: David was super jealous when the three of us got them and he didn't. Oops. Their outfits are coming soon...but I had to show mine off first...

{Deets on how they work coming soon}

How cute are they with this Brigitte Bailey floral dress (which is currently on sale for under $40!).

Chambray Bell Sleeve Dress

07 August 2017

Dear Dress, You had me a chambray and then completely won me over with the bell sleeves.

It's kind of amazing, right? I love it with my gladiators and will love it even more when I can wear it with tan over-the-knee suede boots come October. Oh, best part it was under $50 and at Kohl's, because I can't keep myself away from that place. This particular dope AF dress comes from their K/lab line that to my knowledge is only sold online but is AMAZING. For me it kind of resembles finds from ASOS. Check it out...

...sorry it's little wrinkly, apparently after an all day wear around the city it picked up some creases. SMH.

Blueberry Lemonade Mimosa

03 August 2017

mimosa, mimosa recipes, mimosas, how to preserve wine, zzysh, wine storage, wine preserving, how to reuse champagne, recipes, cocktail recipes, cocktails
Since my drinking game has been limited to special occasions lately, I find myself having a hard time justify springing for a bottle of wine (and champs) here and there with the knowledge that I'm probably only going to get less than a glass or two out of it in a week's time. I mean, once you pop a bottle of champagne you're basically stuck glugging down the goods in that moment or it goes to waste. You need those bubbles otherwise what's the point, right? Well, it looks like our prayers have been answered with zzysh®, the super nifty tool you need to make drinking and preserving your favorite wines a breeze. I for one am wondering where this has been all of my life. Like, how many bottles of prosecco went flat waiting to be finished in my fridge? Or with red wine, where you get about a week of shelf life after opening before quality and taste disappear? zzysh®, also has you covered.

So, instead of enjoying that bottle for just a glass or two and wasting the rest, you can get WEEKS of preservation with zzysh®. Pouring out half a bottle of champagne from the last night's party is now in the past and the remedy is super affordable and easy to use. The starter set is just under $70 and replacement cartridges are around $20 for 5 (you get a few uses out of each cartridge*). I will say it took us a minute to figure out how to use it (and when I say us, I had to ask David for some help), but after we figured out the trick it really turned out to be a simple task.

The unique technology replaces the air in the bottle with a protective atmosphere consisting of the inert gas argon for wine and a combination of argon and carbon dioxide for sparkling wine. This in combination with the stopper, works to protect the wine from oxidation, ensuring flavor, taste, fizz and color are all retained.

(See zzysh® in action here.)

Now you can go ahead and pop a bottle for an impromptu mimosa with brunch. And speaking of mimosas, all this champagne and wine talk inspired a special take on that favorite go-to brunch drink.

In honor of my new-found appreciation for zzysh® I thought it deserved a special drink in its honor, a Blueberry Lemonade Mimosa. Perfect for switching up flavors this summer (it also doesn't hurt that it comes out in a pretty purple hue. Unicorn mimosa? Maybe). Recipe Below.

Blueberry Lemonade Mimosa (Serves 8)
1 bottle of Champagne or Prosecco
Blueberry Juice and Lemonade OR Blueberry Lemonade (I used Simply Lemonade)
1 1/4 Cup Frozen Blueberries
2 Small Lemons, Sliced

In a caraffe combine Blueberry Lemonade (or Juices) with blueberries and stir until combined. Add a few lemon slices and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Garnish the glasses with lemon slices and a couple of frozen blueberry.

Fill the glass halfway with the Blueberry Lemonade mixture and top with the sparkling wine of your choosing.
Serving just one?
Mix 4 oz. juice mixture in a flute or glass and top off with Champagne or Prosecco.
Cheers!

Embroidered Chambray Dress and Gladiators

01 August 2017

Since we decided to skip travel plans this summer and spend our time 'playing tourist' in the city I've had plenty of opportunities to take pictures while we've been out. For me, I'm all for falling in love all over again with different spots around town. I kind of love this little spot in the LES, it's quiet, there's plenty of restaurants and of course, parks for the boys to run around in. Though we didn't end up getting pizza, I'm all for the bright signage pointing me in the right direction....

Kohl's Beauty Event Recap

28 July 2017

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kohl's for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
First off, a huge thank you to all of you who showed up to the Kohl's Beauty Event last weekend. I had a blast with all of you. A special thanks to Tracy and Melanie for hanging out with me all day and letting me show you the Kohl's Beauty Department. It's amazing right? If you weren't able to make it I highly suggest you head into your local Kohl's and check out everything your store has to offer. Not nearby? You can find just about everything online at Kohls.com.

A little more about the event. I had the chance to check out all things beauty during the Semi-Annual Beauty Event at Kohl's and I think it's safe to say I found a few favorites that are now sitting in my beauty closet.

First off, the beauty advisors know their stuff. We teamed up to give a customer a whole new brow look and they were on top of their game with finding just the right products to achieve a bold yet natural brow look. So, if you're on the hunt for a certain look but not exactly sure what products you want to try, you're going to want to beeline over to those gals because they are sharp and they will hook you up!

Next, I spent some time learning about the brands, what kind of products each brand offers and what how to use them. For example, they have a large selection of heat-styling tools. I got to try out the InStyler MAX 2-Way Rotating Iron during the event and it was pretty awesome. You can check me out giving it a go in the video below. It's super easy to use and you can curl AND straighten your hair with one tool. Win and Win.

Of course, every trip to the beauty department requires putting together a little haul and I definitely played favorites with theBalm (longtime fan over here of the Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter), Real Techniques, Cargo, and Butter London. Did you know that Butter London isn't just amazing nail polish anymore? They now have a wide selection of gorgeous lip colors, mascara and eye palettes. I'll take all of the above please.

Then me and a couple of my favorite ladies got to take a tour of the skincare options. Bliss Beauty hands down being one of my favorites. Truth: I can't live without the nightly use of their That's Incredi-'Peel'! Spa-Strength Glycolic Pads. They.are.amazing. I also ended up taking home some goodies from the new-to-me skincare brand GreenSprout Botanicals. I'm loving their Vitamin-C Brightening Facial Serum and Vitamin-C Brightening Facial Cream with SPF (You need that SPF ladies!). It's actually pretty reasonably priced from $15 to $35.

See more of my favorite finds in the video and catch a peek at Tracy, Melanie and I wandering the beauty department and a few tips on how to get that summer glow.

6 Stylish Finds Under $100

Since I'm not quite ready to start transitioning my sights to fall related clothing and accessories I figure I should allot myself a few new summer pieces that will work now and later. I just can't justify buying sweaters when I really want to be wearing floaty summery dresses. So, I'm rounding up 6 pieces under $100 that work just fine now and for when the weather starts to cool down a bit.
First up, this adorable dot wrap dress from Mixology. It's great for outdoor outings now with sneakers and will be even better paired with an over the knee suede boot later. If you haven't shopped Mixology yet they have some great fashion finds and have free shipping on orders over $75. I'm giving away $50 to shop their store so be sure to comment below with your favorite piece to enter to win! Dress, $88.

And these leggings. They.are.amazing. It's literally the only item from the Nordstrom sale that I even considered buying and you can thank Jackie because sold me on these. I'm super happy with the quality and how flattering they are on my post-baby bod. I'll take two please! Zella Lived in high waisted leggings, $35.90

Next, this adorable pj set from Bloomingdales. I actually picked it up in stores last night and I'm feeling the need for a duplicate because it's that comfortable. Plus, anything bohemian related is ok in my boot. Tassels, tie and embroidery for the win! P.s. I also bought this robe.  Josie Pajama Set, $30.40 (extra 20% off with summer).

Ok, I'm kind of on the fence about this next pick but I'm leaning towards purchasing it. It's a leather belt bag. I mean for $13 at Tjmaxx, I feel like it's worth a shot and It's actually super cute and in no way shape or form resembles a fanny pack.  Braided Tassel Leather Belt Bag, $12.99

Another T.J.Maxx find that I literally just ordered are these nude espadrilles. I've been on the hunt for a good pair all summer and after seeing this suede pair and for under $30 I was sold! Maypol Espadrilles, $29

And finally,  these Sugarfix by Baublebar Earrings while doing my usual Target browse and didn't hesitate to add them to my cart. I love the black but there's other color options. Earrings, $12.99

Shop my finds and don't forget to enter to win $50 to Mixology below. Just comment on your favorite find and you're all set. I'll pick a winner at random on Monday August, 7th and announce/notify the winner by email. Xo.
