Tomato Pie

Tomatoes are at their peak right now and I’ve been searching for new recipes. I do make a mean tomato and corn salad (with feta and a balsamic vinaigrette), but I’d love to make more of a main dish. This tomato and roasted garlic pie in bon appétit looks like just the ticket—love that it’s good cold, too.

‘American Beauty’

Carolyn Murphy is on the September subscriber cover of InStyle and looks adorable in Matthew Sprout’s pictures. Stylist Laura Ferrara is a modern farmer, which makes the styling and location all the more relevant. This fall, Carolyn is launching a lifestyle website, Mamma Murphy, that will focus on back-to-basics and made in America products. With Carolyn’s down-to-earth personal style, it will surely be a site to bookmark.

Double Trouble

A few weeks ago I posted on three Jérôme Dreyfuss bags and bought the one on the right to be my work tote. It’s fantastic—well-made, nice details, lightweight, and big enough for my large laptop. Then, I posted on wanting a grey suede bag and voilà! The one on the left is coming tomorrow…

‘Inside Helmut Lang 2.0, the Re-Invention of the 1990s’ Most Influential Label’

Spring 2000

Styles from the 1990s have come back with a vengeance in the past few years, so it’s no surprise that Helmut Lang’s influence (he was the most important designer of that decade in my opinion) is now everywhere.

The absolute zenith of my previous career was the six years I cast for Helmut. When he retired from fashion in 2005, my inspiration retired with him; I stopped casting full-time soon after. In a recent W article by Alix Browne (it’s a must-read), she talks about Helmut’s rise, departure, and the state of the brand over the last decade. After attempting to make the line more accessible, the Helmut Lang label is now helmed by Isabella Burley, the editor in chief of British indie magazine, Dazed. Along with a main collection, which is designed by an in-house team, Ms. Burley has hired guest designers to do capsule collections. However, I am anxiously awaiting the Helmut Lang Re-Editions launch this fall of pieces recreated from the archives.

My list is long.

My Perfect Skirt, Cont.

The ’90s are back in a big way (in my book and wardrobe, they never left). The satin slip dress had it’s moment, but the skirt is the way to go. Wear now with a tee and sandals then transition into fall with sweaters and sneakers—perfection.

Skirts are firmly on my radar for fall and I’m waiting for UPS before I respond to a few of the comments on my previous post. This one, on a Copenhagen Spring 2018 fashion week attendee, is pretty perfect, too. Gotta love an A-line, so flattering.

Contrast stitching + to-the-knee length + a flirty flair + good price point = my dream skirt. This Marc Jacobs skirt ticks all the boxes—I’d wear it now with sandals and a tee, then an oversized sweater and sneakers (Converse) in the fall.
