Aleppo (/əˈlɛpoʊ/; Arabic: ﺣﻠﺐ / ALA-LC: Ḥalab, IPA: [ˈħalab]) is the largest city in Syria and it serves as the capital of the Aleppo Governorate, the most populous Syrian governorate. With an official population of 2,132,100 (2004 census), it is also one of the largest cities in the Levant. For centuries, Aleppo was the Syrian region's largest city and the Ottoman Empire's third-largest, after Constantinople and Cairo.
Aleppo is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world; it has been inhabited since perhaps as early as the 6th millennium BC. Excavations at Tell as-Sawda and Tell al-Ansari, just south of the old city of Aleppo, show that the area was occupied since at least the latter part of the 3rd millennium BC; and this is also when Aleppo is first mentioned in cuneiform tablets unearthed in Ebla and Mesopotamia, in which it is noted for its commercial and military proficiency. Such a long history is probably due to its being a strategic trading point midway between the Mediterranean Sea and Mesopotamia (i.e. modern Iraq).
Public housing may be a form of housing tenure in which the property is owned by a government authority, which may be central or local. Social housing is an umbrella term referring to rental housing which may be owned and managed by the state, by non-profit organizations, or by a combination of the two, usually with the aim of providing affordable housing. Social housing can also be seen as a potential remedy to housing inequality. Some social housing organizations construct for purchase, particularly in Spain and to an extent elsewhere.
Although the common goal of public housing is to provide affordable housing, the details, terminology, definitions of poverty and other criteria for allocation vary within different contexts.
The origins of municipal housing lie in the dramatic urban population increase caused by the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century. In the large cities of the period, many social commentators, such as Octavia Hill and Charles Booth reported on the squalor, sickness and immorality that arose. Henry Mayhew, visiting Bethnal Green, wrote in the The Morning Chronicle:
Al Jazeera (Arabic: الجزيرة al-ǧazīrah IPA: [æl dʒæˈziːrɐ], literally "The Peninsula", referring to the Arabian Peninsula), also known as JSC (Jazeera Satellite Channel), is a Doha-based state-funded broadcaster owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network, which is partly funded by the House of Thani, the ruling family of Qatar. Initially launched as an Arabic news and current affairs satellite TV channel, Al Jazeera has since expanded into a network with several outlets, including the Internet and specialty TV channels in multiple languages.
Al Jazeera is among the largest news organizations with 80 bureaus around the world. Al Jazeera is owned by the government of Qatar. While Al Jazeera officials have stated that they are editorially independent from the government of Qatar, this assertion has been disputed.
The original Al Jazeera channel's willingness to broadcast dissenting views, for example on call-in shows, created controversies in the Arab States of the Persian Gulf. The station gained worldwide attention following the outbreak of war in Afghanistan, when it was the only channel to cover the war live, from its office there.

Genres: Adventure,We went to Aleppo to see how the city is trying to be rebuilt, after rebels left the city at the start of the year. Meanwhile, the US and Russia have reached a ceasefire deal in south-west Syria, one they say could be replicated elsewhere in the country. But that won’t include Raqqa, where militants from the Islamic State group have been fighting back against advancing US-backed Kurdish and Arab forces, as they move closer to the centre. Tens of thousands of people are trapped inside the old city, with dwindling food and water supplies. Subscribe to us and get more videos from Channel 4 News https://www.youtube.com/c/channel4news
How a modern-day massacre happened — and why America sat on the sidelines. In December, after an extended siege and a month of intense fighting, Bashar al-Assad’s forces seized control of the rebel-held eastern half of Aleppo. A withdrawal agreement allowed thousands of rebels and civilians to evacuate — but not before Assad’s forces massacred and tortured an unknown number of people. The Assad victory was a humanitarian disaster and a devastating blow to the embattled anti-government rebels — and something that was in the works for over a year. The above video explains why. Aleppo residents celebrated the start of Ramadan in the Al Jamiliyah neighborhood of Aleppo on Saturday, the first time since the city was retaken by the government SOT, Omar Daleel, shop owner (Arabic): "We are a confectionery shop, and we offer cotton candy every year in Aleppo during Ramadan. It is cream and pistachio, or it can be plain. Hopefully this Ramadan will be different from the past years." SOT, Eisa Tahhan, festival attendee (Arabic): "This year is hugely different from last year. We lived under mortars and clashes that year, and the conditions were bad in terms of security. There were civilian martyrs falling everyday in this province, but it is much different this year as you can see, people are shopping in the markets, they started to feel the atmosphere of Ramadan the s...

Prior to the Syrian Conflict, Travel Tales visited the famed city of Aleppo, Syria losing themselves in a labyrinth of bustling passageways and chatting with merchants and locals. They described their experience a 'magical and memorable' and lucky for us they have gathered up some of their travel videos to share with all of us. So on behalf of Travel Tales, enjoy a excerpt of their time in Aleppo, once Syria's largest and most populated city which sits in the north-western portion of the country close to Turkey's southern boarder and one of the longest inhabited cities with some scholars claiming it dates back to the 6th millennium BC. While it's history is long and vast we offer just a glimpse of life in the ancient metropolis with their video. Video presented by TenMoreSteps Video cre...

Give a little hope to our love
I wish, I wish
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
and give a little hope to our love
Love is like a smooth summer rain
I wish that you'll be back again
Holding back the good times
Forget about the past
Won't let you down
Sag nicht was du willst
Sag mir, was ich hören will | Won't let you go -
Sag mir, dass ich ein Teil
Aus deinem Leben bin | Won't let you cry!
Dass ich dir fehle - dein Gewissen quäle
Bereit' dem ein Ende - bereit' dem ein Ende
I wish, I wish
I could take your fears away
Love and hate
Is tearing us apart
Komm' zurück zu mir
I wish, I wish
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
And give a little hope to our love
Ich will's nie wieder wissen
Hab' dein Herz zerrissen
Will zurück zu dir, dich nie mehr missen
Love is like a smooth summer rain
I wish that you'll be back again
Holding back the good times
Forget about the past
Won't let you down
Sag nicht was du willst
Sag mir, was ich hören will | Won't let you go -
Sag mir, dass ich ein Teil
Aus deinem Leben bin | Won't let you cry!
Dass ich dir fehle - dein Gewissen quäle
Bereit' dem ein Ende - bereit' dem ein Ende
I wish, I wish
I could take your fears away
Love and hate
Is tearing us apart
Komm' zurück zu mir
I wish, I wish
Ich wünsch es mir so sehr
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
And give a little hope to our love
Es tut so weh
I wish, I wish
I could take your fears away
Love and hate
Is tearing us apart
Komm' zurück zu mir
I wish, I wish
Rain could wash your tears away
Give a little time
And give a little hope to our love
Für unsere Liebe
