The Brisbane River's new $18 million mooring facilities has been revealed, with designs for two of the 10 hubs released by Brisbane City Council on Tuesday.

New Farm Park and City Botanic Gardens will be first of 10 sites across Brisbane to receive docking hubs to provide tourist, private and commercial short-term moorings in the inner-city.

The new facilities were announced in the Brisbane City Council 2017-18 budget.

Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said his river plan was designed to enhance tourism and lifestyle options, by providing convenient locations to jump aboard Moreton Bay and Island cruises, hop-on hop-off city-sights tours, water-taxis and leisure craft.

"New Farm Park and the City Botanic Gardens are two of the five inner-city docking sites that will be built, followed by West End and two river-front locations at South Bank," Cr Quirk said.

"These will be complemented by five river lifestyle hubs in the suburban reaches of the Brisbane River, including at Dutton Park."

The hubs built at New Farm Park and the City Botanic Gardens will have mooring facilities for several vessels, including a separate space for leisure and commercial vehicles.

The design images show the New Farm Park terminal will be close to the Powerhouse, while the Botanic Gardens mooring appears to be close to the Stamford Hotel.

Both floating structures will have of a walkway, be flood-resilient and support up to 15 vessels at any one time, ranging from paddle-boarding and kayaks, through to tinnies, powerboats and tour boats.
