HYDERABAD: A reporter with a vernacular news channel lodged a complaint at the Saidabad police against the principal of Narayana Junior College, Champapet branch, allegeing that she snatched his camera and attacked him. Later, the principal also filed a counter-complaint.
Saidabad police said Rahul, a reporter with a vernacular channel, informed police that based on information that corporal punishment was handed out to some students by the college authorities, some journalists went to the educational institution and were recording visuals of the premises. On seeing him, principal Keerthi allegedly obstructed, snatched the camera and damaged it. Later, Rahul was allegedly attacked. A little after Rahul lodged the complaint, Keerthi approached Saidabad police and alleged that the reporter had trespassed into their premises and attacked her.
“Both the parties had a discussion and decided to settle the issue and withdrew their complaints. The principal, in her explanation, claimed there was no incident of corporal punishment at the institution,'' Saidabad inspector Sattaiah said.
