It was in 2015 when we first met at Kempinski Mall of the Emirates and since then her name was never forgotten. Yet, at the back of my mind I thought that it would be the first and the last...but truly, when a person is going to play a very significant role in your life's journey, FATE will lead you back and that's how our story started. A brief background... Ms.Pamini Hemaprabha is an experienced Executive Housekeeper and Master Trainer who has been in senior leadership positions in this field for major luxury hospitality groups throughout the Middle East, Africa and India. Apart from being an Executive Housekeeper for Emirates Palace, Hemaprabha is also a Rooms Division Specialist for all Kempinski hotels in India, Middle East and Africa. The winner of ‘Best Housekeeper 2014’ at the Hotelier Middle East awards, she is also the Housekeeping Master Trainer for Kempinski Worldwide hotels, which involves her travelling around the world to spread awareness of the Kempinski’s brand standards. Hemaprabha joined Emirates Palace from the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates Dubai where she was Executive Housekeeper since 2012. With more than 12 years of experience in housekeeping operations, Hemaprabha brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. She started her career at the ITC Park Sheraton & Towers in Chennai, India in 2003 and quickly moved through the ranks. In 2006, she moved to Dubai to join the Grand Hyatt in Dubai as Housekeeping Team Leader and moved to Raffles Dubai in 2007 to join the pre-opening team. Following this, she moved to Egypt and the Fairmont Heliopolis & Towers in Cairo where she held the position of Director of Housekeeping. During her tenure in Egypt she launched the Housekeeper’s Association in Cairo, a first for the country. In 2010, Hemaprabha was highly commended in the category ‘Housekeeper of the Year’ at the Hotelier Middle East award. DUTIES of an EXECUTIVE HOUSEKEEPER: The position of an executive housekeeper is an important one within any hotel establishment. The housekeeping department ensures that the quality and cleanliness of every room and all areas are met or exceeded prior to a hotel guest entering a room. They are also responsible for all of the laundry operations within the hotel. Some of the duties that this position entails include human resource management for the housekeeping department staff, hiring, training, providing performance evaluations, dismissals as needed, scheduling the needed staff to cover shifts, as well as knowing every detail of housekeeping and laundry for the hotel. The executive housekeeper is responsible to maintain the inventory of housekeeping supplies and amenities, as well as maintain them within the allotted budget. They perform quality inspections throughout the hotel and deal with complaints regarding anything housekeeping related. The executive housekeeper should have experience in the housekeeping department as they will need to fill in as a housekeeper in the event the need arises. Also, it needs to have supervisory experience within the housekeeping department. It requires knowledge of health and safety standards as well as knowledge of all the machinery used, and chemicals within the department. EXHK needs to have good communications skills as they will need to liaise with other department managers to ensure quality standards are being met throughout the hotel.
