Pritish Nandy

Pritish Nandy (born 15 January 1951) is an Indian poet, painter, journalist, politician, media and television personality, animal activist and film producer. He was member of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian parliament representing Maharashtra based party Shiv Sena. He has published a number of poetry books in English and translated poems by other writers from Bengali and Urdu into English.

Early life

Pritish Nandy was born in Bhagalpur in the state of Bihar in eastern India to a Bengali Christian family. He is the son of Satish Chandra Nandy and Prafulla Nalini Nandy, and brother of Ashis Nandy and Manish Nandy. He was educated at La Martiniere College and, briefly, at Presidency College in Kolkata, where he spent the first 28 years of his life. Nandy's mother was a teacher at La Martiniere Calcutta and subsequently became the school's first Indian vice principal.

Literary career

Pritish Nandy's first book of poems Of Gods and Olives was published in 1967. Three further volumes followed in the 1960s and a further 14 volumes were published in the 1970s. During the seventies Nandy edited and published a poetry magazine called Dialogue which published many of India's finest poets in English and other languages, in translation. Dialogue also published over forty books of poems, of first time poets as well as famous poets. It became an iconic platform for contemporary Indian poetry, in English and in translation. In July 1981 Nandy was nominated as a Poet Laureate by the World Academy of Arts and Culture at the Fifth World Congress of Poets in San Francisco. Nandy's poem Calcutta If You Must Exile Me is considered a pioneering classic in modern Indian literature.

Aftab Shivdasani

Aftab Shivadasani (Sindhi: آفتاب شوداساڻي‎; Hindi: आफ़ताब शिवदासाणी) is an Indian film actor, producer and model known for his works in Bollywood. He started his acting career as a child artist with the film Mr. India. In 1999, he starred in Ram Gopal Varma's Mast, for which he received the Zee Cine Award for Best Male Debut. In 2000, he appeared in Vikram Bhatt's Kasoor alongside Lisa Ray, for which he received Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role..

Personal life

Shivdasani was born in Mumbai to Prem and Putli Shivdasani. His father is a Hindu Sindhi while his mother is a Parsi. He has an elder sister named Afsana Shivdasani. He studied at St. Xavier's High School, (Fort) located at Lokamanya Tilak Marg in Mumbai. He then graduated from H. R.College of Commerce in Mumbai. In 2012, he was engaged to Nin Dusanj, a London-based Punjabi who works in Hong Kong. On 11 June 2014, he married Dusanj at a private ceremony attended only by both their families.

Ameesha Patel

Ameesha Patel (pronounced [əˈmiːʂaː pəˈʈeːl]; born Amisha Amit Patel; 9 June 1975) is an is an Indian actress and model who predominantly appears in Bollywood. She has also appeared in few Telugu films. Making her acting debut in the blockbuster Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai (2000), Patel won critical praise for her performance in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001), which became one of the biggest hits in the history of Hindi cinema, earning her a Filmfare Special Performance Award. Her performance in the 2002 film "Humraaz" received critical acclaim & it was one of the biggest hits of the year receiving her a nomination of Best Actress .

Her performance in the 2006 film Ankahee, received critical recognition. In 2007 she appeared in a supporting role in Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. and also co-starred Akshay Kumar in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Patel is frequently cited as one of the sexiest Bollywood actresses of all time.Rediff featured Patel as one of the top Bollywood actresses of 2001.

In 2011, she founded her own production company Ameesha Patel Productions.In 2013, she made an extended appearance in the Race 2.

Vikram Bhatt

Vikram Bhatt (born 1969 in Mumbai) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. Formerly, he was the creative head of ASA Productions and Enterprises Pvt. Ltd., however he has resigned from the company in 2014.

Early life

Bhatt is the grandson of Vijay Bhatt from (Gujarat, Palitana), one of the pioneers of the Indian film industry, and the son of cinematographer Pravin Bhatt.

Career

At the age of 14, in 1982, Bhatt started his career with director Mukul Anand in Anand's first film, Kanoon Kya Karega. Bhatt also assisted Mukul Anand as the chief assistant on the sets of Agneepath. This film turned out to be a cult classic, though not very successful at the box office.

Subsequently, Bhatt worked with director Shekhar Kapur for two and a half years and later with director Mahesh Bhatt for two years. He has been an assistant director on the sets of several successful films including Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Junoon.

His career as a director began with the film Jaanam, which was produced by Mukesh Bhatt. His first four films did not fare well at the box office; his first successful directorial venture was Fareb. Following this, he had a string of successful films such as Ghulam, Kasoor, Raaz and Awara Paagal Deewana. After Awara Paagal Deewana , he once again entered a phase where his films did not perform well at the box office. However, in the same phase he did deliver moderately successful films like Deewane Huye Paagal and the semi-biopic Ankahee.

Esha Deol

Esha Deol (born 2 November 1981) is an Indian film actress and older daughter of film actors Dharmendra and Hema Malini. She made her acting debut in Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe (2002). Deol was praised by film critics and her performance in the movie earned her numerous awards and nominations including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.

Deol earned critical acclaim for her performances and has mainly found success in multi-starrer movies. Deol's breakthrough role was in the critically acclaimed Tamil film Aayutha Ezhuthu (2004) and its Hindi remake Yuva (2004).

Deol's first commercial success was the multi-starrer action film Dhoom (2004) featuring her in a supporting role. It was followed by numerous multi-starrer movies including Dus (2005) and No Entry (2005) that were commercial successes at the box office and earned Deol critical acclaim. The majority of Deol's films earned critical acclaim for her performances in films including Ankahee (2006), Darling (2007) until she took a hiatus from acting. Deol made her comeback to acting with a lead role in Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011).
