Bruce Sigurd Heischober, known as Dr. Bruce, born (1955-05-08)May 8, 1955, is a Board certified medical doctor specializing in emergency and internal medicine. He has published several works on substance abuse.
He graduated from Andrews University in 1976 and Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1979.
On the radio show Loveline Dr. Bruce frequently sits in for Drew Pinsky and is referred to as Dr. Bruce or "Dr. Spaz" by Adam Carolla during his time on the air.
Dr. Bruce appears from time to time as a guest on Adam Carolla's daily podcast. Carolla's nickname for Dr. Bruce is "Dr. Spaz". Bruce is also the inspiration for the term "good lenses, bad frames" referring to a person who is good or competent, even though they may look bad or incompetent.
The Lorenz system is a system of ordinary differential equations (the Lorenz equations, note it is not Lorentz) first studied by Edward Lorenz. It is notable for having chaotic solutions for certain parameter values and initial conditions. In particular, the Lorenz attractor is a set of chaotic solutions of the Lorenz system which, when plotted, resemble a butterfly or figure eight.
In 1963, Edward Lorenz developed a simplified mathematical model for atmospheric convection. The model is a system of three ordinary differential equations now known as the Lorenz equations:
Here ,
, and
make up the system state,
is time, and
,
,
are the system parameters. The Lorenz equations also arise in simplified models for lasers, dynamos, thermosyphons, brushless DC motors, electric circuits, chemical reactions and forward osmosis.
From a technical standpoint, the Lorenz system is nonlinear, three-dimensional and deterministic. The Lorenz equations have been the subject of hundreds of research articles, and at least one book-length study.
Stewart is a popular Scottish first name and surname. The word Stewart is derived from an occupational surname. It originally belonged to a person who was a steward by profession. It is derived from a combination of two Old English words, the word stig, which means house, and the word weard, which means guard. The first name translation of the word is often Stuart, hence the difference in the two.
The Scots-English language name Bruce arrived in Scotland with the Normans, from the place name Brix of the Manche département in Normandy, France, meaning "the willowlands". Initially promulgated via the descendants of King Robert I of Scotland (Robert the Bruce) (1274-1329), it has been a Scottish surname since medieval times; it is now a common given name.
The variant Lebrix and Le Brix are French variations of the surname.

The warm fluid at the bottom expands, becomes less dense that the cooler fluid above, and wants to rise to the top. The video begins with simultaneous views of (1) the temperature and movement of the fluid, represented by a rectangle with marker particles moving with the flow, and (2) the same dynamics represented in phase space, shown as a representative point moving along a dynamical trajectory. The fluid is seen in a two-dimensional cross-section. The marker particles are colored according to temperature: red is warm, blue is cool. Note that the marker particles are mostly red along ...
