Martin Place, Sydney

Martin Place is a pedestrian mall in the central business district of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Martin Place has been described as the "civic heart" of Sydney. As home to the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Macquarie Bank, Westpac and other corporations, it is also a centre of business and finance. The Sydney GPO and the Seven Network's Sydney news centre are also located on Martin Place.

Martin Place has become a national Australian icon in popular culture for attracting high-end film and television productions and actors to the area. Martin Place runs between George Street and Macquarie Street, and provides entrances to the Martin Place railway station below street level. Other cross streets include Pitt Street, Castlereagh Street, Elizabeth Street and Phillip Street.

The initial "Martin Place" was the section between George Street and Pitt Street, officially opened 1892, and was named in honour of Sir James Martin, the three time Premier of New South Wales and Chief Justice of Supreme Court of New South Wales. Closed to traffic in stages from 1971, Martin Place is surrounded by many heritage buildings and features the 1927 World War I ANZAC Cenotaph, water fountain, entertainment area, railway access and pedestrian seating.

Martin Solveig

Martin Picandet (French pronunciation: ​[maʁtɛ̃ pikɑ̃dɛ]), known as Martin Solveig, (born Paris, France 22 September 1976), is a French DJ and record producer. He also hosts a weekly radio show called "C'est La Vie" on stations worldwide including FG DJ Radio in his homeland. His label is called Mixture Stereophonic. Solveig had been ranked 29th in the 2011 DJ Mag Top 100 DJs popularity poll. He has collaborated with Dragonette, Kele of Bloc Party, and Madonna.

Early life

As a child, Martin Solveig joined the choir of The Paris Boys Choir also known in France as Les petits chanteurs de Sainte-Croix de Neuilly, where he had a classical music training and became soprano soloist under the direction of François Polgár. At the age of 18, he became a DJ and then started to work in famous Parisian nightclubs: L'Enfer, Le Queen, Les Bains Douches.

Career

2002–07: Sur la Terre & Hedonist

On 17 June 2002, Solveig released his debut studio album Sur la Terre, the album failed to chart. The album includes the singles "Madan", "Rocking Music" and "I'm a Good Man". On 12 September 2005, he released his second studio album Hedonist, the album peaked to number 43 on the French Albums Chart. The album includes the singles "Everybody", "Jealousy", "Something Better" and "Rejection".

Ina Wroldsen

Ina Wroldsen (born May 28, 1984) is a Norwegian singer/songwriter. She is half of the electropop duo Ask Embla, with fellow Icelandic producer and songwriter Arnthor Birgisson. Wroldsen lives in London.

Career

Wroldsen began writing songs for American artists to branch out of Norway and reach larger markets. She usually begins writing songs that start from a word or phrase, then she adds the melody and how the verses and chorus will feel. Wroldsen formed a band called Ask Embla in the summer of 2011. Her manager is Mark Ellwood. She released the solo singles, "Aliens" and "Rebels" in 2014 and 2015 respectively. She provides uncredited vocals on "How Deep Is Your Love" by Calvin Harris and Disciples.

Since 2013, the publishing interest of Ina Wroldsen’s catalog has been represented by Reverb Music/Reservoir Media Management.

Sydney central business district

The Sydney central business district (also Sydney CBD, and popularly referred to as "town" or "the City") is a suburb and the main commercial centre of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It extends southwards for about 3 km (2 mi) from Sydney Cove, the point of first European settlement in which the Sydney region was initially established. Due to its pivotal role in Australia's early history, it is one of the oldest established areas in the country.

Geographically, its north–south axis runs from Circular Quay in the north to Central railway station in the south. Its east–west axis runs from a chain of parkland that includes Hyde Park, The Domain, Royal Botanic Gardens and Farm Cove on Sydney Harbour in the east; to Darling Harbour and the Western Distributor in the west. At the 2011 Australian Census, the suburb recorded a population of 14,308. The Sydney central business district is also sometimes used loosely to encompass the surrounding inner city suburbs such as Pyrmont, Haymarket, Ultimo and Woolloomooloo.
