Rwanda: Mukura Victory - Rayon Sports 1:1 16.12.2016 A really bizarre story is coming out of Rwanda today. There was controversy in the recent game between Mukura Victory and Rayon Sports when Mukura’s striker Moussa Camara did something that saw him accused of witchcraft. With his team trailing 1-0, he hit the crossbar with a header. Clearly frustrated with how things were going, Camara then did something strange. Footage shows him running up the opposition goal and putting an object against the post. This isn’t well received. Rayon players go crazy and begin swinging kicks at the striker. Eventually, things calm down and the game resumes. Minutes later, Camara equalises. The Mirror reports that the incident has caused the Rwandan FA to change a few rules. Any player believed to be par...

Rwanda is the world's first country getting power from a lake - and averting a natural catastrophe at the same time. Rwanda's Lake Kivu contains a dangerously high concentration of methane gas due to nearby volcanic activity. Extracting the gas could save the lake and provide an economic opportunity for the electricity-starved country. More from DW's business desk: http://www.dw.com/en/top-stories/business/s-1431
Through the year, economies world over have been hit by the volatility in commodity prices, and overall interest rates. The International Monetary Fund has however commended Rwanda's economy saying it would show more resilience to shocks over the long term regardless of individual sector cycles. Diversifying the export base and focus on bringing the nominal exchange rate down were noted as key factors to work on to make the country more competitive.

As reported in the Doing Business 2012, Rwanda now ranks 45th on the ease of doing business—an improvement of 113 ranks from the start of the program. With more than a dozen major pieces of legislation passed and reforms in the areas of business registration, construction permits, taxes and trade logistics in place, the country's political leadership has demonstrated ...
Rwanda's economy has remained on a strong growth path with real GDP growth primarily driven by good harvests, an increase in exports largely due to rising commodity prices and high domestic demand supported by expanding credit to the private sector.

Rwanda's healthcare system is one of the most advanced in Africa. Almost everyone in the small African state has access to medical care thanks to a network of almost 50 district hospitals and some 200 health centers. And a general health insurance scheme means that most people can afford it, too. But some of the care provided is only possible together with international partners. Ben Franklin famously said, at the end of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, that "if we don't hang together, we shall surely hang separately." That lesson of "we're all in it together" wasn't lost on Rwanda. Rwanda - a small nation in central Africa - is one of the poorest and most underdeveloped nations in the world. Nearly 60 percent of Rwandans live below the national poverty line - and in Rwanda, with an average income of just $560 per year per family - less than $2 a day - being in poverty meant bringing home and living on as little as ten cents a day. From 1990 to 1994 - the nation had a civil war - and in April of 1994 - the Rwandan Genocide began - lasting for 3 months - and taking the lives of nearly 1 million Rwandans. And yet - despite going through a civil war and a genoc...
The public health transformation in Rwanda is striking for those with memories of the massacre of nearly one million people 20 years ago. International aid groups were initially wary about getting involved, but Rwanda took ownership of its own development and built a new health care system. Special correspondent Fred de Sam Lazaro explores how they've worked to overcome a shortage of doctors.

Participants include ministers of health and finance from various African countries, as well as UN and intergovernmental agencies, academics and civil society organisations. The regional director for the W.H.O. has stressed the need for different sectors to work together to provide accessible, affordable healthcare for all on the continent. "The ambitious goal of the Rwandan Human Resources for Health program is to build a medical education and health system in Rwanda that will be one of the best in the world," says Lisa Adams, MD, associate dean for global health at Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine. "The scope and potential is unprecedented. This is also a natural fit for our commitment to global health education and impact at Dartmouth and the work of our Center for Health Equity at the medical school." In this video, Adams, who was the first U.S. physician in Rwanda working as part of the HRH program, speaks about the change already happening in Rwanda.....change that excites Jean-Luc Nkurikiyimfura, MD, head of the HIV Clinic at the Kigali University in Rwanda. Cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women in developing countries. Dubbed the 'silent killer', many women are unaware of the disease until too late. In countries where cervical cancer screening and treatment services are limited, prevention is key. Our visit to Rwanda was a dream come true, and we couldn't have had a better guide taking care of us the entire time we were there. If you're interested in going to Rwanda and replicating our trip, I highly recommend Amahoro Tours, and ask for Safari. Tell them I referred you, and revel in the remarkable beauty that is Rwanda. (Amahoro means "peace.") Help us caption & translate this video! http://amara.org/v/2AQf/
In September 2015, I made a trip to Uganda and Rwanda for a month. This video highlights more of my time in Uganda, enjoy!

The genocide was planned by members of the core political elite known as the akazu, many of whom occupied positions at top levels of the national government. Perpetrators came from the ranks of the Rwandan army, the National Police (gendarmerie), government-backed militias including the Interahamwe and Impuzamugambi, and the Hutu civilian population. The genocide took place in the context of the Rwandan Civil War, an ongoing conflict beginning in 1990 between the Hutu-...

Même s’il n’apprécie pas la liberté d’expression propre aux réseaux sociaux, le président Kagame mise sur le numérique et sur une nouvelle génération technophile pour développer le pays. Rwanda yeah your moon shines bright
Rwanda over planned genocide
Rwanda, won't you be strong like a lion
Tune in the transistor
And listen to the news
Cause once a week it hits ya
Heart broken and blue
It's the voice over Africa
so stop peregrination
So listen very closely to half a million dead souls
Rwanda yeah your moon shines bright
Rwanda over planned genocide
Rwanda, won't you be strong like a lion
It's complicated when facts come slow
Mass destruction mass confusion
Whats the difference to the orphan
Orphans of the dead
When no more machine guns strike and there's silence instead
Rwanda yeah your moon shines bright
Rwanda over planned genocide
