Monte Walsh and Chet Rollins are long-time cowhands, working whatever ranch work comes their way, but ""nothing they can't do from a horse."" Their lives are divided between months on the range and the occasional trip into town. Monte has a long-term relationship with prostitute Martine Bernard, while Chet has fallen under the spell of the widow who owns the hardware store. FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tom Selleck stars as American cowboy archetype Matthew Quigley in Simon Wincer's outback western Quigley Down Under. Answering an advertisement placed by Australian cattle baron Elliot Marston (Alan Rickman) to come to the rugged and uncivilized Australian countryside and shoot dingoes, Quigley finds himself halfway around the world, only to find that Marston wants to exploit his talents as a sharpshooter in order to wipe out the Aborigine population. Taken aback by this square-jawed genocide, Quigley grabs Marston and hurls him through a window. Marston, who controls the region, sets out to hunt Quigley down. But helping him stay one step ahead of Marston is the addlebrained expatriate American trollop Crazy Cora (Laura San Giacomo) who insists that Quigley is her husband Roy.

Simon Wincer
Simon Wincer (born 1943 in Sydney) is an Australian film director and film producer. He attended Cranbrook School, Bellevue Hill, Sydney from 1950 to 1961. On leaving school he worked as a stage hand at TV Station Channel 7. By the 1980s he directed over 200 hours of television. In 1986 he directed the made-for-TV movie The Last Frontier and also won a Christopher Award.

At the heart of this true story is Damien Oliver, a young jockey who loses his only brother in a tragic racing accident, hauntingly reflecting of the way their father died 27 years earlier. FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tom Selleck stars as American cowboy archetype Matthew Quigley in Simon Wincer's outback western Quigley Down Under. Answering an advertisement placed by Australian cattle baron Elliot Marston (Alan Rickman) to come to the rugged and uncivilized Australian countryside and shoot dingoes, Quigley finds himself halfway around the world, only to find that Marston wants to exploit his talents as a sharpshooter in order to wipe out the Aborigine population. Taken aback by this square-jawed genocide, Quigley grabs Marston and hurls him through a window. Marston, who controls the region, sets out to hunt Quigley down. But helping him stay one step ahead of Marston is the addlebrained expatriate American trollop Crazy Cora (Laura San Giacomo) who insists that Quigley is her husband Roy.

The Phantom is a 1996 American superhero film directed by Simon Wincer. Based on Lee Falk's comic strip The Phantom, the film stars Billy Zane as a seemingly immortal crimefighter and his battle against all forms of evil. The Phantom also stars Treat Williams, Kristy Swanson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, James Remar and Patrick McGoohan. The film's plot is loosely inspired by three of The Phantom stories, "The Singh Brotherhood", "The Sky Band"[1] and "The Belt"; but adds supernatural elements and several new characters.
Principal photography began in October 1995 and concluded on February 13, 1996. The film was shot in California, Thailand and Australia.
The Phantom was released on June 7, 1996, and received mixed reviews from film critics. Despite financial disappointment in its theatrical release, the film has since enjoyed success on VHS and DVD.

Actor/ Comedian Stephen Curry who plays Damien Oliver in the upcoming movie 'The Cup' visits us in the nova studios with Director Simon Wincer. The Melbourne Cup is truly "the race that stops a nation". Since it's inception, great stories have emerged from this famous horse race, run each year on the first Tuesday in November, but none had a more extraordinary effect on the entire nation than the running of the 2002 Melbourne Cup. In the wake of the Bali bombings less than three weeks earlier, Australians were seeking refuge in their most cherished tradition - The Cup. But a grieving jockey's courage in the face of his own loss, gave his countrymen far more than just a great race. The final thrilling moments of this story will be forever etched in Australian folklore.

Following advice from acclaimed Australian cinematographer Dean Semler, they used the Olympus PEN E-PL1 to help bring audiences into the heart of the horse racing action. The Phantom is a 1996 American superhero film directed by Simon Wincer. Based on Lee Falk's comic strip The Phantom, the film stars Billy Zane as a seemingly immortal crimefighter and his battle against all forms of evil. The Phantom also stars Treat Williams, Kristy Swanson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, James Remar and Patrick McGoohan. The film's plot is loosely inspired by three of The Phantom stories, "The Singh Brotherhood", "The Sky Band"[1] and "The Belt"; but adds supernatural elements and several new characters.
Principal photography began in October 1995 and concluded on February 13, 1996. The film was shot in California, Thailand and Australia.
The Phantom was released on June 7, 1996, and received mixed reviews from film critics. Despite financial disappointment in its theatrical release, the film has since enjoyed success on VHS and DVD.

Fred Roos has worked with some of Hollywood's most gifted filmmakers and actors over the last four decades producing some of the most unique films of our time.
Roos' long-term collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola includes producing the Academy Award-winning Best Picture The Godfather, Part II and the Academy Award-nominated Best Pictures Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, Part III, and The Conversation (winner of the Palm D'Or at Cannes). Other films Roos has produced with Coppola include: One From the Heart, The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, The Cotton Club, Gardens of Stone, New York Stories, Tucker: The Man and His Dream, Youth Without Youth (as Executive Producer), and the recent release Tetro. Among Roos' other producing credits are: Wim Wenders' Hammett, Jack Nicholson's Drive, He Said, Barbet Schroeder's Barfly, Peter Chelsom's Town and Country, Agnieszka Holland's The Secret Garden, and the documentary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (winner of Cable Ace Award, Best Documentary).
He also produced The Black Stallion (Carroll Ballard) and the Walt Disney release in Imax, The Young Black Stallion (Simon Wincer).
