I interviewed a few of them off camera and they all confirmed they had come to that area for the holiday and tourist season to try beg for money from foreigners. They were there by choice, and went back to their provinces after new years.

Nicknamed "The Punisher", vigilante groups tied to Duterte are thought to be responsible for the executions of drug traffickers, criminals, gang members and other lawless elements. Here's my part 2 of Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Manila. I was given a hotel by Turkish Airlines which gave me the chance to explore Istanbul on a longer layover. The flight from Istanbul Ataturk Airport to Manila is around 10 hours and 45 minutes. It was my first time riding the Airbus A340. Seats were quite old as well as the IFE. However the service of the flight attendants were superb especially the meal service. Enjoy! Asiana Inaugural A350-900 Business Class Seoul to Manila
Welcome onboard Asiana's brand new A350 to Manila. It is always awesome to fly on an inaugural flight, and the crew on this flight were absolutely lovely. The service was full of smiles, kind, and attentive. Drinks were topped off multiple times on this short 3:30 hour flight. Asiana prepared a nice goodie bag for all passengers of this flight. It was a big sleep kit with a really thick and padded eye mask, a neck pillow, and pen and stationary all branded with Asiana A350. The introduction of the A350 is also the introduction of the new premium economy class, as well as the refreshed business class and economy class seats. The service was full of smiles, kind, and attentive. Drinks were topped off multiple times on this short 3:30 hour flight. Asiana prepared a nice goodie bag for all passengers of this flight. It was a big sleep kit with a really thick and padded eye mask, a neck pillow, and pen and stationary all branded with Asiana A350.
The introduction of the A350 is also the introduction of the new premium economy class, as well as the refreshed business class and economy class seats. For business class, the seats offer a lot more privacy and the IFE is bigger and brighter yet the viewing angle is narrow which prevents the glare from waking up other passengers in flight. The seats look absolutely sleek and class, and the redesign brings it in line with the design of the A380 first class suites. Overall the new seat is more passenger friendly since it is more private and the controls are more convenient. Although it isn't the reverse herringbone seats on CX and CI's A350, I would definitely not mind flying on longhual on this seat even in the true aisle seats.
The ceremony at the gate was interesting and I am glad I got to see the ribbon cutting for the introduction of the A350 into service. The ceremony was conducted only in Korean so if anyone can provide some English translation I would appreciate it!
Overall, the service was 5 stars as usual and the new seats are definitely an improvement.

Regarding the street people in Makati Manila, I bought many of them rice and stir fry dinners and bottled water. I interviewed a few of them off camera and they all confirmed they had come to that area for the holiday and tourist season to try beg for money from foreigners. They were there by choice, and went back to their provinces after new years.

The trip: Manila - Taal Vulcano - El Nido - Cebu - Bohol Music: Sons Of Maria - Where the Rivers Flow In Manila we stayed at the H2O hotel in a room with a big aquarium. A nice hotel with friendly staff. Manila city wasn't that great so we decided to spend a day climbing the Taal Volcano. A nice place to visit because of the island in a lake within an island in a lake situation. After a few days we took a flight to El Nido which is situated on one of the most beautiful islands in the world; Palawan. We booked a trip (which was slightly rough) to go visit the small islands and saw some beautiful fishes, beaches and limestone rocks. In Manila we stayed at the H2O hotel in a room with a big aquarium. A nice hotel with friendly staff. Manila city wasn't that great so we decided to spend a day climbing the Taal Volcano. A nice place to visit because of the island in a lake within an island in a lake situation.
After a few days we took a flight to El Nido which is situated on one of the most beautiful islands in the world; Palawan. We booked a trip (which was slightly rough) to go visit the small islands and saw some beautiful fishes, beaches and limestone rocks. We went on the zipline on Las Cabanas beach and shot a fun hyperlapse.
After El Nido we took a second flight to Cebu where we took a daytrip to swim with the whale sharks in Oslob.
Back in Cebu we took the boat to Bohol where we stayed in the ‘Nuts Huts’. We rented a scooter to discover the island; we went to the chocolate hills and visited the tarsier conservation area.
The weather in the Philippines in August was fine, a little bit stormy now and then. (storm season of course) Because of the weather we couldn't go diving unfortunately, we saw a lot of beautifull fish while snorkeling though.
I tried to do some cool transitions in the video, hope you like them.

Daydream in the Philippines
Visiting the Philippines has always been on the list of places I wanted to go and since I was back in Asia during the whale shark season, I decided to take the opportunity and traveled to the Philippines for 2 weeks. It's another backpacker's trip (maybe when we're older we'd travel more luxuriously) and we visit Philippines northernmost tip of land - Ilocos. It was a short four day adventure - mostly of beaches and falls. We loved the natural Kabigan falls the best, proved to be a very refreshing dip after a scorching day in the sun. We don't see much clear waters in our Manila rivers nowadays but the tributaries from the falls were pristine enough it was potable. Pagudbud beach, we love to return here. Quieter than Boracay but has that similar quintessential beach vibe. We prefer solitude now, not so much for parties and night outs. Again as our travel adventures dictate: we don't plan on anything. Our group have been hunting for secluded beaches that are 3-4 hours away from Manila or from La Union (some of my travel buddies are from NCR while I and one of them are from La Union). I've been researching for infamous but beautiful beaches that may bring some kind of serenity to the soul and that will give time for our group to reconnect with Mother N. Thus, choosing Zambales to be our next drop off destination for our last summer travel. I was first caught by the showcased scenery of Nagsasa. But a traveler/photographer in IG told me that Nagsasa is quite crowded and suggested Talisayen as an alternative beach spot instead. The highlight of the trip was getting a chance to visit a Vietnamese boat people refugee camp near Baataan. I met some friendly Pinoys too. The food was great. The transportation readily available. And the landscape extremely beautiful. There are plenty to see and do as well.

Visiting the Philippines has always been on the list of places I wanted to go and since I was back in Asia during the whale shark season, I decided to take the ...
Visiting the Philippines has always been on the list of places I wanted to go and since I was back in Asia during the whale shark season, I decided to take the opportunity and traveled to the Philippines for 2 weeks. My plan was to spend the first week exploring the volcano part of the Philippines and last week in the islands.
I had my friend to show me in and around Manila, getting to see the part of the city the western media doesn't show. I went and hiked to Mt Pinatubo lake and Lake Taal with my good friend April from Tripkada, explore the most symmetrical volcano in the world, Mayon Volcano in Legazpi, swim with whale sharks the right way in Donsol (not as disruptive as in Oslob), ride a motorbike around Bohol and jumped on a boat and cruise around the beautiful Palawan.
My first travel video since I switched to Sony a6500 from Sony RX100! Many new techniques I tried here so let me know if you like them. The video is much slower with less head spinning transition than my previous travel videos due to me getting used to the new setup but I hope this creates a unique spin to my film! Let me know what you think about the video!

Visiting the Philippines has always been on the list of places I wanted to go and since I was back in Asia during the whale shark season, I decided to take the opportunity and traveled to the Philippines for 2 weeks. My plan was to spend the first week exploring the volcano part of the Philippines and last week in the islands.
I had my friend to show me in and around Manila, getting to see the part of the city the western media doesn't show. I went and hiked to Mt Pinatubo lake and Lake Taal with my good friend April from Tripkada, explore the most symmetrical volcano in the world, Mayon Volcano in Legazpi, swim with whale sharks the right way in Donsol (not as disruptive as in Oslob), ride a motorbike around Bohol and jumped on a boat and cruise around the beautiful Palawan.
My first travel video since I switched to Sony a6500 from Sony RX100! Many new techniques I tried here so let me know if you like them. The video is much slower with less head spinning transition than my previous travel videos due to me getting used to the new setup but I hope this creates a unique spin to my film! Let me know what you think about the video!

-How to get there from Manila?
Take a bus that can bring you to Baguio. Leave Manila around 4 to 5 am so you can be at Baguio around 11am. I prefer taking Victory Liner because their buses depart every hour from their terminals in Manila, Cubao, Caloocan, and Pasay. Buses get full, especially during peak season. So be sure to reserve your ticket a day before your scheduled departure to guarantee yourself a seat.
When you arrive at Baguio take a taxi going to GL/Lizardo Trans Station at Dangwa Terminal and ride a bus going to Botoc! From Baguio to Bontoc, it is a 5 to 6 hour journey. Take the 12:30pm or 1:30pm bus to Bontoc so you’ll catch the beautiful combination of colors in the sky due to breathe taking sunset while on the way.
-Where to stay?
As soon as you arrive at Bontoc, you should check in at a hotel or you’ll freeze by the cold breeze in the area! There are lots of hotels in Bontoc raging from 150 to 250 PHP (rooms w/ shared toilet) and 300 to 500 PHP (rooms with private toilet). I recommend taking Churya-a hotel as they also serve good food and give you a perfect landscape of the town.
-What to do and where to go?
First thing in the morning, go to the Tourism Office located beside the Police station at the heart of Bontoc. You should register and pay an environment/tourist fee. But in my case, I paid nothing due to the generosity of the officers in charge that day. In addition, they gave me tips and guided me on how I can enjoy my 3 days stay at the beautiful town of Bontoc, Mountain Province.
There are a lot of things that you can do while you are at the town proper. Restaurants are everywhere! They serve eye catching, mouthwatering, and tummy satisfying food often served in big portions to satisfy hungry backpackers! Expect to spend around 130-170 pesos per meal with drinks. Adjust accordingly based on how much you want to eat and drink.
Start your adventure with a 20-minute jeepney ride going to Maligcong Rice Terraces. When you arrive at Maligcong, pay the environment/tourist fee of 20 PHP. Trekking around the terraces will take you about 2 to 3 hours. You can stay at Vilma’s guest house over the night then wake up around 4am the next day for you to see the sunrise over the bed of clouds at Maligcong Rice Terraces just like the sunrise at Kiltepan Park, Sagada.
Want to hike not 1, not 2 mountains but ranges? The Bontoc Ili - Alab Mountain ranges is the answer. It is 20 minutes away from the town proper via jeepney or bus. Have a flashback as you trek for 5 hours because of the rich history and mystery behind the burial caves and terraces you will encounter during your trek! The Bontoc Alab – Ili trek lasts up to 3-5 hours depending on your speed and endurance. You can hire a tour guide so you can have a safe and more educational trek. 800 PHP when you’re alone and 1200 PHP for a group of 5!
Before you leave Bontoc, make sure to drop by the Bontoc Museum and catch a glimpse of the rich culture, and colorful history of the peoples in the Cordilleras. The vast collection in the museum ranges from tools during the headhunting era, regular clothing to traditional costumes used for special celebrations, spectacular photographs to miniature models of traditional houses, and many more!
The 3 days stay at the Town of Bontoc is not enough! I missed some exciting things due to lack of time. But surely it is a town that you’ll go back with!
Mysteries over a clouded town are still mysteries and yet to be uncovered!

It's another backpacker's trip (maybe when we're older we'd travel more luxuriously) and we visit Philippines northernmost tip of land - Ilocos. It was a short four day adventure - mostly of beaches and falls. We loved the natural Kabigan falls the best, proved to be a very refreshing dip after a scorching day in the sun. We don't see much clear waters in our Manila rivers nowadays but the tributaries from the falls were pristine enough it was potable. Pagudbud beach, we love to return here. Quieter than Boracay but has that similar quintessential beach vibe. We prefer solitude now, not so much for parties and night outs.
Again as our travel adventures dictate: we don't plan on anything. Literally drove to whichever terminal that has a destination for either Vigan or Laoag on the night (midnight actually!) we were about to leave. Alighted the bus 10 hours later and casually talked to the friendly tricycle driver if he can take us to the sand dunes. Everything from that point just happened naturally, we got lucky with board and lodging and the guide. Thank you Kuya Julius of Laoag and Kuya Ramon of Pagudpud for taking us to see places. We'd love to be back!

Our group have been hunting for secluded beaches that are 3-4 hours away from Manila or from La Union (some of my travel buddies are from NCR while I and one of them are from La Union). I've been researching for infamous but beautiful beaches that may bring some kind of serenity to the soul and that will give time for our group to reconnect with Mother N. Thus, choosing Zambales to be our next drop off destination for our last summer travel.
I was first caught by the showcased scenery of Nagsasa. But a traveler/photographer in IG told me that Nagsasa is quite crowded and suggested Talisayen as an alternative beach spot instead. It was fortunate that one of my former colleague in the school publication had gone to Talisayen therefore, he referred a tourist guide to our group [I still have the tourist guide's contact number, so if you need a help, don't hesitate to put your comment below :)]
To highlight Talisayen, I really appreciate the silence and peace it offers. Unlike Anawangin (which we also visited), Talisayen is far more secluded [the tourists flocking in the area can be counted at minimal number]. The water is crystal-clear and what I liked most about it is the calmness of the waves (most of the time). You can also trek to its view deck area where you can pass along a hidden cave and canopies of trees. Its wide stretch of shore indeed invites everyone to take a break from the workaholic and stressed-out kind of living. You can also view the milky way if the weather permits. I haven't taken much video clips of the area cause I think it is more invigorating to immerse yourself with what Talisayen has to offer rather than only seeing it in your screens. I would surely want to go back to this place without hesitations.
