Voting

Voting is a method for a group such as a meeting or an electorate to make a decision or express an opinion—often following discussions, debates, or election campaigns. Democracies elect holders of high office by voting.

In politics

In a democracy, a government is chosen by voting in an election: a way for an electorate to elect, i.e. choose, among several candidates for rule. In a representative democracy voting is the method by which the electorate appoints its representatives in its government. In a direct democracy, voting is the method by which the electorate directly make decisions, turn bills into laws, etc.

A vote is a formal expression of an individual's choice in voting, for or against some motion (for example, a proposed resolution), for or against some ballot question, for a certain candidate, a selection of candidates, or a political party. A secret ballot has come to be the practice to prevent voters from being intimidated and to protect their political privacy.

Voting usually takes place at a polling station; it is voluntary in some countries, compulsory in others, such as Australia.

The characters

Talking Tom

Talking Tom is the lead character in the Talking Tom and Friends franchise. Tom is a wisecracking, adventure-seeking anthropomorphic cat, described as the "world’s most popular cat."

Talking Tom is a fully animated interactive 3D character that users can tickle, poke and play with in the apps. Users can also get Tom to repeat what they say. The original Talking Tom Cat app was launched in July 2010 for iOS, closely followed by Talking Tom 2 in 2011.

The My Talking Tom app was launched in November 2013. This interactive app sees users raise their very own Tom from a kitten to a fully-grown tomcat, caring for him and customizing his fur, clothes and home. My Talking Tom had over 11 million downloads and was the top games app in 135 countries worldwide within 10 days of its launch.

Catalonia

Catalonia (Catalan: Catalunya, Occitan: Catalonha, Spanish: Cataluña) is an autonomous community of Spain politically designated as a nationality. Catalonia consists of four provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Lleida, and Tarragona. The capital and largest city is Barcelona, the second-largest city in Spain and the centre of one of the largest metropolitan areas in Europe and the Mediterranean basin.

Catalonia comprises most of the territory of the former Principality of Catalonia, with the remainder now part of France's Pyrénées-Orientales. It is bordered by France and Andorra to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the east, and the Spanish autonomous communities of Aragon to the west and Valencia to the south. The official languages are Catalan, Spanish, and the Aranese dialect of Occitan.

Raise Up

"Raise Up" is a song recorded by American rapper Petey Pablo. It was released in August 2001 as the lead single from his debut album Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry. The song peaked at number 25 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in October 2001. The song was certified Gold in 2002.

Content

The premise of the song is simple, Pablo represents his native North Carolina, and calls on the audience to "take your shirt off, twist it 'round yo' hand, spin it like a helicopter." At UNC football games, The Marching Tar Heels play the chorus of this song after the defense makes a third down stop. The first verse of his song, "Who am I? Petey Pablo, motherfucker!", is an allusion to Beenie Man's dancehall single, "Who Am I (Sim Simma)".

The song samples "Enta Omri" by Hossam Ramzy.

According to Petey Pablo, the premise of the song to the outside listener is simple in the nature that North Carolina towns are being named, but the real meaning is shrouded in mystery. "Each town name in the song is a location for a NC prison," stated Pablo.

Law enforcement in Spain

Law enforcement in Spain is carried out by numerous organizations, not all of which operate in the same areas.

The Guardia Civil patrols rural areas (including highways and ports) and investigate crimes there. They operate from garrison posts that are called casas cuartel ("home-garrisons") which are both minor residential garrisons and fully equipped Police Stations.

The Policia Nacional or Cuerpo Nacional de Policía (CNP) deals with criminal offences and public order in big towns and cities. It includes special anti-riot units.

Policia Local exist in most cities and important towns in order to concentrate on preventing crime, settling minor incidents, traffic control, and, crucially, intelligence gathering.

There are also several specialist forces also with the powers of arrest for dealing with areas such as tax avoidance, smuggling and international crime. Any person with the power of arrest may intervene in urgent situations beyond their specific jurisdiction if they have reasonable cause to place a person at jurisdictional disposition.

Des affrontements ont éclaté ce dimanche 1er octobre entre des militants indépendantistes catalans, qui organisaient un référendum, et les forces de l'ordre espagnoles chargées d'appliquer l'interdiction du scrutin voulue par le gouvernement. La police utilise matraques et balles en caoutchouc contre une foule qui avait reçu pour consigne de rester pacifique. Dans des dizaines d'écoles de Barcelone, des policiers casqués investissent les lieux alors qu'à l'intérieur le vote interdit par Madrid est en cours. La police saisit les urnes de force : ici, une seule a pu être sauvée. 90 blessés parmi les votants Parmi les votants, on compte au moins 90 blessés en début de soirée. D'abord empêché par la fermeture de son bureau de vote, le président catalan a pu voter dans un bureau voisin pour une image forte en symbole. Malgré les affrontements, des milliers de Catalans ont pu se rendre aux urnes, urnes livrées au dernier moment et protégées comme des trésors, entourées par une haie d'honneur. Pour les partisans de l'indépendance, le moment est historique. La foule se presse, nombreuse, dans les bureaux de vote.
