With the financial and intellectual support of three friends, Donald, Steve and Scott we are bringing to the world the CDS Blowout Preventer. My invention offers 100% assurance and protection against any possibility of a blowout because it positively seals the casing from the riser in a second and it is activated automatically without operator intervention or external power. Here is a short description of how this invention can offer 100% protection: An automatic annular valve installed on the BOP stack, doubling as a bore ram, eliminating any possibility of the drill pipe being pushed out of the well due to excessive pressure, in addition to sealing and securing the well in less than a second. The valve instantly shuts closed in the event of any kick, allowing the necessary time for degassing of the drill mud, and it opens automatically as soon as excessive pressure is relieved through the choke manifold valve by the crew. A significant aspect of this invention is the fact, it activates automatically in a second or less and without external power, and as soon as the well is relieved of the excessive pressure, the well can be returned to production and does not need to be abandoned or killed in deep sea or land operations. The CDS BOP is a must-have because it adds unparalleled safety at the additional cost of peanuts. The failed BOP purchase price exceeded $15 million. Consider the undisputed facts: the Macondo well blowout starting flow was 54 gallons per second at a depth of 5,000 feet, each gallon of high pressure hydrocarbon expands at least 50 fold per every 1,000 feet of depth, bringing on board OVER 800,000 gallons every passing minute! This amount of highly explosive mix is enough to blow sky-high many times over, even the most cautious crew operating the biggest oil rig such as Deepwater Horizon, manned by the safest crew. However experienced, no one can react fast enough as to avoid devastating blowouts with currently employed technology! When you consider the fact, you need only 3% to 7% of hydrocarbon and 97% to 93% air mix for maximum explosive power, you begin to understand the Deepwater Horizon crew with impeccable safety record never had a chance. Even if the Cameron BOP would have been working flawlessly, the well would not have flowed for 87 days, but the catastrophic blowout would have occurred. Only the automatic self-activating CDS BOP can stop these situations from ever happening again. According to public data, world wide there are over 300 blowouts and oil spills every year with varying degrees of severity, year in and year out. I believe OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION IS UNSAFE AT ANY DEPTH, AND DISASTERS SUCH AS THE MACONDO BLOWOUT CANNOT BE STOPPED RELIABLY BY CURRENTLY IN USE BLOWOUT PREVENTION TECHNOLOGY. The current over-reliance on drilling mud is misplaced. The subsequent sinking of the Hercules 256 oil rig only once more proves the CDS BOP is A MUST HAVE! The adoption of the CDS Blowout Preventer invention, I am confident, will stop every single future blowout: for the last three years I have contacted several industry insiders and yet, no one seems to be interested in solving this most acute problem threatening life, equipment, and the environment. In an end, the American consumer pays for all these astronomically high costs, running in the tens of billions of dollars, forcing many Americans to face the choice of paying for gas or paying for mortgage, tanking the economy. However, the destruction of our planet threatens life as we know it and no amount of money can bring it back if we act carelessly.
