Hippos (Ancient Greek: Ἵππος, "horse") is an archaeological site in Israel, located on a hill overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Between the 3rd century BC and the 7th century AD, Hippos was the site of a Greco-Roman city, which then declined under Muslim rule and was abandoned after an earthquake in 749. Besides the fortified city itself, Hippos controlled two port facilities on the lake and an area of the surrounding countryside. Hippos was part of the Decapolis, or Ten Cities, a region in Roman Jordan, Syria and Israel that were culturally tied more closely to Greece and Rome than to the Semitic ethnoi around.
Established as Antioch of Hippos (Ἀντιόχεια τοῦ Ἵππου) by Seleucid settlers, the city is named after the Greek language word for horse, Hippos, and a common name of Seleucid monarchs, Antiochus. The Aramaic name, Sussita (Hebrew: סוסיתא), was also adopted into Hebrew and also means horse, while the Arabic name, Qal'at al-Hisn, means "Fortress of the Horse/Stallion". Other names include the alternate spelling Hippus and the Latinized version of the Greek name: Hippum. The precise reason why the city received this name is unknown.
The common hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), or hippo, is a large, mostly herbivorous mammal in sub-Saharan Africa, and one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae, the other being the pygmy hippopotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis or Hexaprotodon liberiensis). The name comes from the ancient Greek for "river horse" (ἱπποπόταμος). After the elephant and rhinoceros, the common hippopotamus is the third-largest type of land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl. Despite their physical resemblance to pigs and other terrestrial even-toed ungulates, the closest living relatives of the Hippopotamidae are cetaceans (whales, porpoises, etc.) from which they diverged about 55 million years ago. The common ancestor of whales and hippos split from other even-toed ungulates around 60 million years ago. The earliest known hippopotamus fossils, belonging to the genus Kenyapotamus in Africa, date to around 16 million years ago.
Common hippos are recognisable by their barrel-shaped torsos, wide-opening mouths revealing large canine tusks, nearly hairless bodies, columnar-like legs and large size; adults average 1,500 kg (3,300 lb) and 1,300 kg (2,900 lb) for males and females respectively, making them the largest species of land mammal after the three species of elephants and the white and Indian rhinoceros. Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances. The hippopotamus is a highly aggressive and unpredictable animal and is ranked among the most dangerous animals in Africa. Nevertheless, they are still threatened by habitat loss and poaching for their meat and ivory canine teeth.

The hippopotamus - fat and cuddly vegetarian or fearsome and aggressive killer? This eye-opening documentary special reveals a shocking side to these almost cartoon-like creatures who are responsible for killing more people in Africa than any other creature. Violence is central to hippo society - female hippos are hugely protective mothers as males often kill their young, and with only one in 10 males ever getting the chance to mate, fights between males are often to the death. NAGASAKI, Japan, 2014 April 29. A Japanese zoo showed off the jaw power of some real-life Hungry Hungry Hippos by demonstrating their ability to devour whole watermelons. This video comes from the Nagasaki Bio Park, shows a keeper at the zoo tossing whole watermelons into the mouths of the hippopotamuses, which chomp down on the large fruits to explode them in a way that would make Gallagher's hammer envious. One of the hippos appears able to devour the watermelon in a single bite without having to chew the smaller pieces. No man should see what these eyes have seen
The mess that I've cleaned
The people so green
Things that were said
Went straight to your head
Evil will show
You know how it's grown
With blood on the path
We will not do the math
We don't care
So it is told that the air will be cold over there
Please take good care
We're going home
We're going home
We're going home
Finally rest these old bones
His majesty sleeps high in the trees
Sends his palms spinning
From west to the east
Begging him please
To see how it feels
This wasn't agreed on
When they sign the deal
With blood on her path
We will not do the math
We don't care
So it is told that the air will be cold over there
Please take good care
We're going home
