Fire trucks and ambulances raced toward the shrieks echoing from the Stadium at Rosemont on Sunday night.
“My friend is in there!” a woman screamed to a police officer as he tried to shepherd her and a crowd of others past a smoking truck. The wailing group hobbled away from the stadium, many complaining of injuries.
“Tony! Start triaging people!” one officer yelled to another.
The Ballpark at Rosemont is normally the home the Chicago Bandits, a professional women’s softball team, but on Sunday night it was the site of a terror, or rather a terrorism exercise.
The Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) organized the event to test the ability of over two dozen different agencies to work together in responding to a terrorist attack. Around 300 first responders and approximately 300 mock victims participated in the exercise.
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle called the event “one of the largest, full-scale active-threat exercise ever undertaken in Illinois.” She also noted that the event was federally funded.
Just east of O’Hare International Airport, Rosemont has a population just over 4,000. While less than two square miles in area, the village includes large venues such as the Allstate Arena, Rosemont Theatre, MB Financial Park and the Fashion Outlets of Chicago.
“It’s not commonly known but about 56 percent of active threat circumstances occur in a population of less than 100,000,” said Ernest Brown, the executive director of the Cook County DHSEM. Brown did not have the cost of the exercise immediately available, but he said it was well worth the expense. He said the volunteer victims included law school and drama school students.
The exercise was expected to last until 3 a.m. Monday morning according to Natalia Derevyanny, Deputy Director of Communications Cook County DHSEM.

Lochlyn Munro
Richard Laughlain "Lochlyn" Munro (born February 12, 1966) is a Canadian actor.
Munro is mostly known for roles in films, notably A Night at the Roxbury, Scary Movie, White Chicks and Freddy vs. Jason. For television, he is perhaps best known for his recurring role as Jack Sheridan in the supernatural drama Charmed.
Life and career
Munro was born in Lac La Hache, British Columbia, and started his acting career after a serious sports injury ended his dream of playing professional ice hockey. While playing music in various clubs around Vancouver, Munro studied drama and improvisational comedy. Munro landed roles on various American projects such as 21 Jump Street (1987) and Wiseguy (1987).
Munro has starred in two Moment of Truth movies: Stand Against Fear, as a high-school jock who uses his popularity for all the wrong reasons, and Abduction of Innocence, as the boyfriend-turned-kidnapper of a teenage lumber heiress. Munro played Jack Sheridan on Charmed and appeared on Without A Trace, CSI, CSI: Miami and CSI: NY playing three different characters. He appeared as Paul Musevini, a time traveling patriarch of a genetically-enhanced Nietzschean race, in "Pride Before the Fall", the 100th episode of Andromeda.

Brad Dourif
Bradford Claude "Brad" Dourif (/ˈdɔːrᵻf/; born March 18, 1950) is an American actor and voice actor who gained early fame for his portrayal of Billy Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which won him a Golden Globe Award and BAFTA Award, as well as a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
He portrayed Charles Lee Ray / Chucky (both live-action and voiceover) in the Chucky franchise, Deputy Clinton Pell in Mississippi Burning, Younger Brother in Ragtime, Piter De Vries in David Lynch's Dune, Gríma Wormtongue in The Lord of the Rings, and Doc Cochran in Deadwood, for which he earned an Emmy Award nomination.
Dourif has worked with director Werner Herzog on many occasions, appearing in Scream of Stone, The Wild Blue Yonder, The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, and My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?. From June to September 2013, he starred in an Off Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' The Two-Character Play, his first stage appearance in 29 years.

Allstate Arena (originally Rosemont Horizon) is a multi-purpose arena in Rosemont, Illinois. It is home to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, the DePaul University's men's basketball team, and the Chicago Sky of the WNBA. It is located near the intersection of Mannheim Road and Interstate 90, adjacent to the city limits of Chicago and O'Hare International Airport.
History
The Village of Rosemont issued $19 million in bonds to finance the cost of the arena with exclusive contracts with Araserv, the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and MFG International.
On August 13, 1979, the uncompleted roof of the Rosemont Horizon collapsed, killing five construction workers and injuring 16 others. The collapse was featured in the "Engineering Disasters" episode of Modern Marvels, first broadcast by The History Channel on April 20, 2006.
The facility, originally named Rosemont Horizon, was intended to be the home of the Chicago Horizons of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) and was home of the 1980-1981 season but the franchise folded in 1982. It was also intended to be the home of the WHA's Chicago Cougars, but the team folded in 1975, three years before construction on the arena started. The first concert held at the Horizon was Fleetwood Mac on May 15, 1980, as they cut a red ribbon on the stage during the opening of the show.

Cook County, Illinois
Cook County is a county in the United States state of Illinois. As of 2014, the population was 5,246,456. With more than 40 percent of all Illinois residents, it is the most populous county in Illinois and the second-most populous county in the United States after Los Angeles County, California. Its county seat is Chicago, the largest city in Illinois and third-most populous city in the United States.
Cook County's population is larger than that of 29 individual U.S. states and the combined populations of the seven smallest states. There are 135 incorporated municipalities partially or wholly within Cook County, the largest of which is Chicago, which makes up approximately 54% of the population of the county. That part of the county which lies outside of the Chicago city limits is divided into 30 townships. Geographically the county is the fifth largest in Illinois by land area and shares the state's Lake Michigan shoreline with Lake County. Including its lake area, the county has a total area of 1,635 square miles (4,234.6 km2), the largest county in Illinois, of which 945 square miles (2,447.5 km2) is land and 690 square miles (1,787.1 km2) (42.16%) is water. Cook County's land is mainly urban and very densely populated.

Fire trucks and ambulances raced toward the shrieks echoing from the Stadium at Rosemont on Sunday night.
“My friend is in there!” a woman screamed to a police officer as he tried to shepherd her and a crowd of others past a smoking truck. The wailing group hobbled away from the stadium, many complaining of injuries.
“Tony! Start triaging people!” one officer yelled to another.
The Ballpark at Rosemont is normally the home the Chicago Bandits, a professional women’s softball team, but on Sunday night it was the site of a terror, or rather a terrorism exercise.
The Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) organized the event to test the ability of over two dozen different agencies to work together in responding to a terrorist attack. Around 300 first responders and approximately 300 mock victims participated in the exercise.
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle called the event “one of the largest, full-scale active-threat exercise ever undertaken in Illinois.” She also noted that the event was federally funded.
Just east of O’Hare International Airport, Rosemont has a population just over 4,000. While less than two square miles in area, the village includes large venues such as the Allstate Arena, Rosemont Theatre, MB Financial Park and the Fashion Outlets of Chicago.
“It’s not commonly known but about 56 percent of active threat circumstances occur in a population of less than 100,000,” said Ernest Brown, the executive director of the Cook County DHSEM. Brown did not have the cost of the exercise immediately available, but he said it was well worth the expense. He said the volunteer victims included law school and drama school students.
The exercise was expected to last until 3 a.m. Monday morning according to Natalia Derevyanny, Deputy Director of Communications Cook County DHSEM.
