This steel framed Taurus Judge can put a lot of lead in the air. With composite specialty loads like Hornady’s “410 Triple Defense” this Public Defender is potent package: two 35 caliber round balls topped with one non-jacketed FTX slug! Now that’s firepower out of a portable revolver. Smaller than the Judge, the Taurus Public Defender is easier to carry. The amount of portability gained is debatle however because it’s still heavy and thick. And against some big bore alternatives like a Glock 20/29 10mm, Glock 36, or Springfield Armory .45 XDM Subcompact, it has the huge disadvangtages of slow reload and limited rounds. But we still found the PD to be reliable, accurate, and possessing of excellent value given its price. Recommended.

Series Premise:
The Public Defender is a half-hour 69-episode television dramatic series starring Reed Hadley (1911-1974) as Bart Matthews, an attorney for the indigent. The series aired from March 11, 1954 to June 23, 1955, a season and a half. When this series was created by Mort R. Lewis and Sam Shayon, the concept of the public defender was little known in the United States except in capital cases. The Public Defender purportedly based each episode on true cases, and each segment closes with a tribute to a public defender. Hadley portrays the stoic but driven public defender Bart Matthews, whose clients cannot otherwise afford expensive legal representation.

Public defender
A public defender is a lawyer appointed to represent people who cannot afford to hire an attorney. It is also a literal translation of the Spanish-language term abogado de oficio, which usually refers to an ombudsman office; it is also the English-language title of the Jamaican ombudsman.
Brazil is the only country where an office of government-paid lawyers, with the specific purpose of providing legal assistance and representation to the destitute, free of charge, is established in the Constitution. In the United States, a 1963 US Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright ruled that the Sixth Amendment of the Bill of Rights requires the government to provide free legal counsel to indigent defendants in criminal cases. Many other countries provide people with public defenders.

In civil law countries, following the model from the French Napoleonic Code of criminal procedure, the courts typically appoint private attorneys at the expense of the state.
Brazil
The Constitution of Brazil uniquely provides for a public defender's office (Defensoria Pública) at both state and federal levels. Public defense is a right to poor people, who must declare, formally, that they cannot afford regular legal aid, to benefit from public defenders' services.

In public relations and communication science, publics are groups of individual people, and the public (a.k.a. the general public) is the totality of such groupings. This is a different concept to the sociological concept of the Öffentlichkeit or public sphere. The concept of a public has also been defined in political science, psychology, marketing, and advertising. In public relations and communication science, it is one of the more ambiguous concepts in the field. Although it has definitions in the theory of the field that have been formulated from the early 20th century onwards, it has suffered in more recent years from being blurred, as a result of conflation of the idea of a public with the notions of audience, market segment, community, constituency, and stakeholder.

In social psychology, marketing, and public relations, a public has a more situational definition.John Dewey defined (Dewey 1927) a public as a group of people who, in facing a similar problem, recognize it and organize themselves to address it. Dewey's definition of a public is thus situational: people organized about a situation. Built upon this situational definition of a public is the situational theory of publics by James E. Grunig (Grunig 1983), which talks of nonpublics (who have no problem), latent publics (who have a problem), aware publics (who recognize that they have a problem), and active publics (who do something about their problem).

First let's talk about the Public Defender's offices.They are set up to represent poor people. People who do not have the funds to hire a private attorney. The United States Constitution says that everybody should get an attorney if they charged with a crime. So that' why we have a public defender's offices they are funded by the counties and sometimes by the state. As you probably know by now Public Defenders are very nice people very sincere, but they are usually over worked and underpaid. Usually have very high volumes of cases and handling lots and lots of cases. So, if you do choose to use the Public Defender you are not going to get a lot of personal attention you may not even sit down in an office and talk to your Public Defender. They may be too busy to actually sit and have a conversation with you. Many times you will just meet them in court outside in the hallway minutes before your case is called. So, if you are going to use the Public Defenders you have to be very proactive call them not everyday, but once in a while to say hello to see if you can have a sit down interview with them. You want to get them all of your employment records, character reference letters you have to do a lot things on your own cause they don't have time to do all the small things that go into defending a criminal case. So you will have to take care of those things yourself. If, you can afford to hire a private attorney a good private attorney it's always better because you can rest assure that all the little things are going to be done and get the best possible defense. Now there are times where you should use the Public Defenders if you qualify that is if you have asked around and talked to a bunch of people and the assigned Public Defender, the one that you have gets very high ratings from everybody else. If you have a really good one and you qualify for the public defenders you should stick with that public defender. The second time you should stick with a public defenders office is if you have a very complex murder case. So a murder cases cost a lot of money if you are going to hire a private attorney and it can cost anywhere from 50-100 thousand dollars. Not everybody has the sufficient funds to hire a good attorney, a good private attorney to handle a murder case. So, if you have a complex murder case and you qualify for the public defenders the chances are that the best attorneys in that public defender office will be assigned to that murder case. That is the way it works as attorneys work their way up through the public defenders office the best attorneys and highest qualified attorneys end up with the juicer cases, which are usually the murder cases. So those are the two situations where you should use a public defender in a criminal case if you qualify. Attorney Doug Crickmer was working as a public defender in 2008 when he was sucker-punched in court by a prisoner he was appointed to defend. This occurred in Kentucky's Scott County Circuit Court and was captured on security video. The client, Peter Hafer, told Judge Rob Johnson that he was dissatisfied with Crickmer’s service, but as Crickmer began to explain his side of things, Hafer lunged at him and connected with a punch right to the the lawyer's face. Hafer was in court, accused of having stolen $51,000 worth of jewelry from a local Kmart with the help of an accomplice. Although public defender Doug Crickmer forgave Hafer, the Kentucky judicial system sentenced the assailant to a six-month jail term for the attack. -

A San Francisco deputy public defender was handcuffed and arrested at the Hall of Justice after she objected to city police officers questioning her client outside a courtroom, an incident that her office called outrageous and police officials defended as appropriate. The Tuesday afternoon arrest of attorney Jami Tillotson as she denied police officers’ attempts to take photos of her client without explanation raised questions about police intimidation and harassment, Public Defender Jeff Adachi said at a Wednesday news conference. But police said the five officers, led by a plainclothes sergeant, were investigating a burglary case in which Tillotson’s client and his co-defendant were considered persons of interest. Tillotson was cited for misdemeanor resisting or delaying arrest because she obstructed a police investigation, officials said. “I was arrested for what we do as public defenders every day,” Tillotson said of the encounter, which was captured in a video that the public defender’s office posted on YouTube. “I asked questions. I talked to my client and explained to him his rights. Public Defender Lawyer Sucker Punched by Client in Court
Attorney Doug Crickmer was working as a public defender in 2008 when he was sucker-punched in court by a prisoner he was appointed to defend. This occurred in Kentucky's Scott County Circuit Court and was captured on security video. The client, Peter Hafer, told Judge Rob Johnson that he was dissatisfied with Crickmer’s service, but as Crickmer began to explain his side of things, Hafer lunged at him and connected with a punch right to the the lawyer's face. Hafer was in court, accused of having stolen $51,000 worth of jewelry from a local Kmart with the help of an accomplice. Although public defender Doug Crickmer forgave Hafer, the Kentucky judicial system sentenced the assailant to a six-month jail term for the attack.

With composite specialty loads like Hornady’s “410 Triple Defense” this Public Defender is potent package: two 35 caliber round balls topped with one non-jacketed FTX slug! Now that’s firepower out of a portable revolver. Smaller than the Judge, the Taurus Public Defender is easier to carry. The amount of portability gained is debatle however because it’s still heavy and thick. And against some big bore alternatives like a Glock 20/29 10mm, Glock 36, or Springfield Armory .45 XDM Subcompact, it has the huge disadvangtages of slow reload and limited rounds. But we still found the PD to be reliable, accurate, and possessing of excellent value given its price. Recommended.

You don't get to choose who your public defender is. With a private lawyer, so long as you have enough money, you can choose who you want to represent you. With choice comes continuity. Public defenders transfer to different divisions constantly. With a private lawyer, you will have the same criminal defense lawyer protecting your freedom.
3. Limited attention vs Personal attention
Public defenders may have hundreds of cases. They are overworked and underpaid. A private lawyer has fewer clients. You will get more personal attention and access with a private criminal lawyer. You may not even meet your public defender until you go to court. A private lawyer will meet with you, discuss strategy to win your case, get his investigator to interview witnesses, get pictures and video.

You don't get to choose who your public defender is. With a private lawyer, so long as you have enough money, you can choose who you want to represent you. With choice comes continuity. Public defenders transfer to different divisions constantly. With a private lawyer, you will have the same criminal defense lawyer protecting your freedom.
3. Limited attention vs Personal attention
Public defenders may have hundreds of cases. They are overworked and underpaid. A private lawyer has fewer clients. You will get more personal attention and access with a private criminal lawyer. You may not even meet your public defender until you go to court. A private lawyer will meet with you, discuss strategy to win your case, get his investigator to interview witnesses, get pictures and video.

Hello, my name is Chris Morales and I'm a criminal defense attorney in San Francisco, California and today I want to talk about when you should or should not use the Public Defender's office.
First let's talk about the Public Defender's offices.They are set up to represent poor people. People who do not have the funds to hire a private attorney. The United States Constitution says that everybody should get an attorney if they charged with a crime. So that' why we have a public defender's offices they are funded by the counties and sometimes by the state.
As you probably know by now Public Defenders are very nice people very sincere, but they are usually over worked and underpaid. Usually have very high volumes of cases and handling lots and lots of cases.
So, if you do choose to use the Public Defender you are not going to get a lot of personal attention you may not even sit down in an office and talk to your Public Defender. They may be too busy to actually sit and have a conversation with you. Many times you will just meet them in court outside in the hallway minutes before your case is called.
So, if you are going to use the Public Defenders you have to be very proactive call them not everyday, but once in a while to say hello to see if you can have a sit down interview with them. You want to get them all of your employment records, character reference letters you have to do a lot things on your own cause they don't have time to do all the small things that go into defending a criminal case. So you will have to take care of those things yourself.
If, you can afford to hire a private attorney a good private attorney it's always better because you can rest assure that all the little things are going to be done and get the best possible defense.
Now there are times where you should use the Public Defenders if you qualify that is if you have asked around and talked to a bunch of people and the assigned Public Defender, the one that you have gets very high ratings from everybody else. If you have a really good one and you qualify for the public defenders you should stick with that public defender.
The second time you should stick with a public defenders office is if you have a very complex murder case. So a murder cases cost a lot of money if you are going to hire a private attorney and it can cost anywhere from 50-100 thousand dollars. Not everybody has the sufficient funds to hire a good attorney, a good private attorney to handle a murder case.
So, if you have a complex murder case and you qualify for the public defenders the chances are that the best attorneys in that public defender office will be assigned to that murder case. That is the way it works as attorneys work their way up through the public defenders office the best attorneys and highest qualified attorneys end up with the juicer cases, which are usually the murder cases.
So those are the two situations where you should use a public defender in a criminal case if you qualify. The client, Peter Hafer, told Judge Rob Johnson that he was dissatisfied with Crickmer’s service, but as Crickmer began to explain his side of things, Hafer lunged at him and connected with a punch right to the the lawyer's face. Hafer was in court, accused of having stolen $51,000 worth of jewelry from a local Kmart with the help of an accomplice.
Although public defender Doug Crickmer forgave Hafer, the Kentucky judicial system sentenced the assailant to a six-month jail term for the attack.

The Tuesday afternoon arrest of attorney Jami Tillotson as she denied police officers’ attempts to take photos of her client without explanation raised questions about police intimidation and harassment, Public Defender Jeff Adachi said at a Wednesday news conference.
But police said the five officers, led by a plainclothes sergeant, were investigating a burglary case in which Tillotson’s client and his co-defendant were considered persons of interest. Tillotson was cited for misdemeanor resisting or delaying arrest because she obstructed a police investigation, officials said.
“I was arrested for what we do as public defenders every day,” Tillotson said of the encounter, which was captured in a video that the public defender’s office posted on YouTube. “I asked questions. I talked to my client and explained to him his rights. At that point, I was told I was interfering and taken into custody.”

With composite specialty loads like Hornady’s “410 Triple Defense” this Public Defender is potent package: two 35 caliber round balls topped with one non-jacketed FTX slug! Now that’s firepower out of a portable revolver. Smaller than the Judge, the Taurus Public Defender is easier to carry. The amount of portability gained is debatle however because it’s still heavy and thick. And against some big bore alternatives like a Glock 20/29 10mm, Glock 36, or Springfield Armory .45 XDM Subcompact, it has the huge disadvangtages of slow reload and limited rounds. But we still found the PD to be reliable, accurate, and possessing of excellent value given its price. Recommended.

Hickok45 plays and experiments with the popular Taurus Judge revolver. It's a lengthy shooting session with a variety of ammunition types and target distances. I demonstrate patterns and penetration at various distances. Nothing scientific, as usual, but maybe enough to give 410 gauge revolver owners and potential buyers a rough ideas of what to expect.
At various distances I shoot birdshot, 6 shot, 4shot, 00 Buck, 000Buck, and the exotic Winchester PDX defense shells.
I don't really have a big dog in the fight over whether these are great defensive guns or not, or whether the 410 is useless in this regard. I do know I would not want one shot at me after having experimented with it. It might not kill me, but it certainly would make me change my mind about further action and probably consider where I'd be finding a "see-and-eye" dog for the rest of my life. :-)
