Back to the Future is a 1985 American science-fiction adventure comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, produced by Gale and Neil Canton, and starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover and Thomas F. Wilson. Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, and Frank Marshall served as executive producers. In the film, teenager Marty McFly (Fox) is sent back in time to 1955, where he meets his future parents in high school and accidentally becomes his mother's romantic interest. Marty must repair the damage to history by causing his parents-to-be to fall in love, and with the help of friend, eccentric scientist Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown (Lloyd), he must find a way to return to 1985.
Zemeckis and Gale wrote the script after Gale mused upon whether he would have befriended his father if they had attended school together. Various film studios rejected the script until the financial success of Zemeckis' Romancing the Stone. Zemeckis approached Spielberg, who agreed to produce the project at Amblin Entertainment, with Universal Pictures as distributor. The first choice for the role of Marty McFly was Michael J. Fox. However, he was busy filming his television series Family Ties and the show's producers would not allow him to star in the film. Consequently, Eric Stoltz was cast in the role. During filming, Stoltz and the filmmakers decided that the role was miscast, and Fox was again approached for the part. Now with more flexibility in his schedule and the blessing of his show's producers, Fox managed to work out a timetable in which he could give enough time and commitment to both.
Thomas Wilson, Tom Wilson or Tommy Wilson may refer to:
A television film (also known as a TV film; television movie; TV movie; telefilm; telemovie; made-for-television film; direct-to-TV film; movie of the week (MOTW or MOW); feature-length drama; single drama and original movie) is a feature-length motion picture that is produced for, and originally distributed by or to, a television network, in contrast to theatrical films, which are made explicitly for initial showing in movie theaters.
Though not exactly labelled as such, there were early precedents for "television movies", such as Talk Faster, Mister, which aired on WABD (now WNYW) in New York City on December 18, 1944, and was produced by RKO Pictures, or the 1957 The Pied Piper of Hamelin, based on the poem by Robert Browning, and starring Van Johnson, one of the first filmed "family musicals" made directly for television. That film was made in Technicolor, a first for television, which ordinarily used color processes originated by specific networks (most "family musicals" of the time, such as Peter Pan, were not filmed but broadcast live and preserved on kinescope, a recording of a television program made by filming the picture from a video monitor – and the only method of recording a television program until the invention of videotape).
Thomas Francis Wilson Jr. (born April 15, 1959) is an American actor, writer, musician, painter, voice-over artist, comedian, and podcaster. He played Biff Tannen, Griff Tannen and Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen in the Back to the Future trilogy, and Coach Ben Fredricks on NBC's Freaks and Geeks.
Wilson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in nearby Wayne, Pennsylvania. While attending Radnor High School, he was involved in dramatic arts; was president of the debate team, where his partner was future New York Times columnist David Brooks; and played tuba in the high school band and was drum major of his marching band. He studied international politics at Arizona State University.
Wilson attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. While in New York, he got his first "real" stage experience as a comedian.
In the early 1980s, Wilson moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his career. He shared an apartment with fellow aspiring comedians Andrew Dice Clay and Yakov Smirnoff, and later joked that he "taught them both about America."

Tom Wilson, who played Biff in 'Back to the Future,' is performing in Las Vegas this weekend and he appeared on Action News at Midday on July 29.
From early 1991, here is a David Letterman show with Tom Wilson, who starred in the 3 Back to the Future films!
Tom Wilson is perhaps most recognized as 'Biff' from the "Back To The Future" movies - but he started out in show business as a standup comedian, and continues to do standup to this day in addition to his acting career. Provenza met Tom way back in the early '80's when he was starting out at the legendary 'Comedy Works' in Philaldelphia, where he often performed with late Judy Toll - who was the other guest on this particular episode. The taping was actually a kind of 'comedy high school' reunion day. Tom had great stories about shooting the Back To The Future movies, Crispin Glover's contract negotiations, and traveling around the world trying not to be the ugly American, while being called "Meester Beeeff!" in Hong Kong.
This live concert by stand-up comedian Tom Wilson (Biff Tannen from Back To The Future) offers witty, family friendly commentary and humorous musical performances.

I've started working on the 'Hint Fiction' anthology animations. I decided to use Robert Swartwood's story first because he put the anthology together, but also because I thought this one was hirarirous. I was going to draw an old senile tooth fairy bumping into the walls, but then about half way through the animation I decided to give the narrator dementia instead. I think that is why I am so excited about this series. Hint Fiction is defined as a story of 25 words or fewer that suggests a larger, more complex story. There seems to be an almost endless amount of ways I can tell the story because there are so many options. I was at a birthday party in Brooklyn and I told someone what I was doing and she said that I should look up these 25 word stories. I emailed Robert Swartwood a...
