A petition seeking to bar Mombasa governor candidate Hassan Omar from contesting in the upcoming General Election will be heard after the polls
Justice Eric Ogola said that although the petition raises pertinent constitutional issues that must be interpreted, he did not wish to make a ruling that would interfere with the election. Ogola was responding to the petition filed by Hamilton Mwakitele Walongo who argues that Omar is a sitting and an active Member of Parliament hence a state officer, and therefore ineligible to contest for the gubernatorial elections.
Hassan Omar represented himself in court, and told the judge that he does not understand why the petitioner chose him of all the 47 senators. IEBC through lawyer Lumatete Muchai argued that there are other avenues to hear the matter such as the political parties tribunal. The parties were directed to file their responses within 7 days. The case will be mentioned on August 15

A suspected criminal from Mombasa's Old Town area who had been in the police most wanted list was last evening killed by an angry mob.
The man popularly known as Mohammad 'Bobocha' was confronted by members of the public after allegedly being involved in a theft incident at Mkanyageni area. Residents say he stabbed and robbed a person off their belongings before taking off, but residents chased him and cornered him near the ocean.
Meanwhile, an elderly man suspected of harbouring criminals in old town area was arrested om Saturday evening. Mombasa Deputy County Commissioner Mahmoud Salim issued a stern warning that police would deal firmly with anyone engaging in criminal activities.

Mombasa
Mombasa (/məmˈbɑːsə/; Kenyan English: [mɔmˈbɑːsə]) is a city on the coast of Kenya. It is the nation's second-largest city, after the capital Nairobi, with an estimated population of 1.2 million people in 2014. Administratively, Mombasa is the capital of Mombasa County, whose current governor is Hassan Ali Joho.
A regional cultural and economic hub, Mombasa has an extra-large port and an international airport, and is an important regional tourism centre. Located on the east coast of Kenya, in Mombasa County and the former Coast Province, Mombasa's situation on the Indian Ocean made it a historical trading centre, and it has been controlled by many countries because of its strategic location.
Description
The city had a population of 939,370 per the 2009 census. It is located on Mombasa Island and sprawls to the surrounding mainlands. The island is separated from the mainland by two creeks: Tudor Creek and Kilindini Harbour. It is connected to the mainland to the north by the Nyali Bridge, to the south by the Likoni Ferry, and to the west by the Makupa Causeway, alongside which runs the Kenya-Uganda Railway. The port serves both Kenya and countries of the interior, linking them to the ocean. The city is served by Moi International Airport located in the northwest mainland suburb of Chaani.

Hans Florian Zimmer (German pronunciation: [hans ˌfloːʁi̯aːn ˈtsɪmɐ]; born 12 September 1957) is a German composer and record producer. Since the 1980s, he has composed music for over 150 films. His works include The Lion King, for which he won Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1994, the Pirates of the Caribbean series, The Thin Red Line, Gladiator, The Last Samurai, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, and Interstellar.
Zimmer spent the early part of his career in the United Kingdom before moving to the United States. He is the head of the film music division at DreamWorks studios and works with other composers through the company that he founded, Remote Control Productions.
Zimmer's works are notable for integrating electronic music sounds with traditional orchestral arrangements. He has received four Grammy Awards, three Classical BRIT Awards, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. He was also named on the list of Top 100 Living Geniuses, published by The Daily Telegraph.

Notorious gangster gunned down in Mombasa
A suspected criminal from Mombasa's Old Town area who had been in the police most wanted list was last evening killed by an angry mob. The man popularly known as Mohammad 'Bobocha' was confronted by members of the public after allegedly being involved in a theft incident at Mkanyageni area. Residents say he stabbed and robbed a person off their belongings before taking off, but residents chased him and cornered him near the ocean. Meanwhile, an elderly man suspected of harbouring criminals in old town area was arrested om Saturday evening. Mombasa Deputy County Commissioner Mahmoud Salim issued a stern warning that police would deal firmly with anyone engaging in criminal activities.

Ogola was responding to the petition filed by Hamilton Mwakitele Walongo who argues that Omar is a sitting and an active Member of Parliament hence a state officer, and therefore ineligible to contest for the gubernatorial elections.
Hassan Omar represented himself in court, and told the judge that he does not understand why the petitioner chose him of all the 47 senators. IEBC through lawyer Lumatete Muchai argued that there are other avenues to hear the matter such as the political parties tribunal. The parties were directed to file their responses within 7 days. The case will be mentioned on August 15

It's popular for its expat community and many many beach resorts. There are 6 of us roadtrippers to we booked this spectacular Airbnb villa for the weekend with a pool, was less than $200 a night total and had 6 bedrooms including the side guest house. We also stopped by Southcoast Backpackers Hostel, and Swahili Beach Resort for drinks and dinner. One of the best restaurants in Diani Beach, and maybe the only 5 Stat resort there. Mombasa is an island in Kenya so beautiful beyond any imagination. It is also the gateway to Kenya and a tourist destination that attracts tourist from all over the world. To the south it is linked by ferries, very safe with no history of any calamity and in the north by Nyali bridge. I work in the USA but this is my vacation choice every summer for the last seven years. It is relaxing, delicious Swahili food, great people, rich history and culture. Fort Jesus takes you down the memory lane with great history. There beaches in north and south coast and great five star hotels. Other areas of great interest along the coastal belt are Mtwapa, kilifi,and Malindi.

We had 3 nights in Diani Beach, the most popular backpackers area in Kenya and maybe East Africa. It's popular for its expat community and many many beach resorts. There are 6 of us roadtrippers to we booked this spectacular Airbnb villa for the weekend with a pool, was less than $200 a night total and had 6 bedrooms including the side guest house.
We also stopped by Southcoast Backpackers Hostel, and Swahili Beach Resort for drinks and dinner. One of the best restaurants in Diani Beach, and maybe the only 5 Stat resort there.
We in the way to Zanzibar! See you there!

Jonny here, right now I am at Borana Ranch, high on the Laikipia Plateau, in the lee of Mount Kenya. And in this short film I am going to talk about tourism in Kenya.
If I asked what's the first thing you think about when turning your mind to travel in this colourful East African country, you'd almost certainly say wildlife. And of course you'd be right as over 80 percent of holidays here will have a wildlife element.
From the Marsabit National Park in the north, to the Masai Mara and Amboseli National Parks in the south, the planes of Kenya are teeming with wildlife or all shapes and sizes offering, along with its neighbour Tanzania, the best place in the world to view game. And if you throw in Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, the Laikipia Plateau and the Matthews Range, the Lamu Archipelago and the rest of the Kenyan coast, and some of the most spectacular and evocative accommodation anywhere on earth, then here in Kenya you have a true world class travel experience.
The Masai Mara is probably the most famous national park. Covering more than 500sqm, the Mara is universally renowned for its exceptional populations of lion, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo and giraffe and for the famous migration of wildebeest that takes place every year from July to October.
But the Masai Mara is by no means the only show in town. Further to the east you have Amboseli National Park with its epic views of Kilimanjaro, to the north you have Samburu, Marsabit and Meru National Parks, and here on Laikipia, in the Lewa conservancy, where the savannah is awash with elephants, giraffe, the quirky Grevy zebra and a new and burgeoning population of black rhino.
And as for the accommodation, well that is quite simply out of this world. Yes, to get the best you're going to pay, but in our opinion the experience you'll enjoy and quality of service you'll receive -- plus of course the game you'll see -- does make this value for money. There is simply nothing else like it on earth. Among many amazing places to stay, my personal favourites are Else's Kopje in Meru, Saruni in Samburu, Richard's Camp or Serian in the Mara, and either Sabuk or Borana here on the Laikipia Plateau.
But tourism in Kenya is not only about wild animals. The Kenyan Coast, stretching all the way from Diani Beach in the south the Lamu archipelago in the north, with its white sand beaches and gentle turquoise seas -- particularly when the trade winds are blowing in the right direction from November through to March -- again coupled with some fabulous accommodation, combine to make this a truly world class beach experience.
And if you like to meet the people -- an important factor in most Wild Frontiers adventures -- there are plenty of opportunities, particularly at Sarara, in the Matthews Range, at Il Ngwesi north or Mount Kenya and here at Borana.
To get around there is are great quality land cruisers, a brilliant air service, either in scheduled flights or on private charters, a classic bi-plane, or if you really want to push the boat out and get to places few others can reach, a truly amazing helicopter service, run by our friends at Tropic Air.
A classic African safari is a travel experience like no other, and one that all travellers should do at least once in their lives. And for that, in my opinion, there's nowhere better than Kenya.

Mombasa is an island in Kenya so beautiful beyond any imagination. It is also the gateway to Kenya and a tourist destination that attracts tourist from all over the world. To the south it is linked by ferries, very safe with no history of any calamity and in the north by Nyali bridge. I work in the USA but this is my vacation choice every summer for the last seven years. It is relaxing, delicious Swahili food, great people, rich history and culture. Fort Jesus takes you down the memory lane with great history. There beaches in north and south coast and great five star hotels. Other areas of great interest along the coastal belt are Mtwapa, kilifi,and Malindi.

Petition to stop Hassan Omar running for Mombasa governorship to be heard after polls
A petition seeking to bar Mombasa governor candidate Hassan Omar from contesting in the upcoming General Election will be heard after the polls Justice Eric Ogola said that although the petition raises pertinent constitutional issues that must be interpreted, he did not wish to make a ruling that would interfere with the election. Ogola was responding to the petition filed by Hamilton Mwakitele Walongo who argues that Omar is a sitting and an active Member of Parliament hence a state officer, and therefore ineligible to contest for the gubernatorial elections. Hassan Omar represented himself in court, and told the judge that he does not understand why the petitioner chose him of all the 47 senators. Notorious gangster gunned down in Mombasa
A suspected criminal from Mombasa's Old Town area who had been in the police most wanted list was last evening killed by an angry mob. The man popularly known as Mohammad 'Bobocha' was confronted by members of the public after allegedly being involved in a theft incident at Mkanyageni area. Residents say he stabbed and robbed a person off their belongings before taking off, but residents chased him and cornered him near the ocean. Meanwhile, an elderly man suspected of harbouring criminals in old town area was arrested om Saturday evening. Mombasa Deputy County Commissioner Mahmoud Salim issued a stern warning that police would deal firmly with anyone engaging in criminal activities.

A petition seeking to bar Mombasa governor candidate Hassan Omar from contesting in the upcoming General Election will be heard after the polls
Justice Eric Ogola said that although the petition raises pertinent constitutional issues that must be interpreted, he did not wish to make a ruling that would interfere with the election. Ogola was responding to the petition filed by Hamilton Mwakitele Walongo who argues that Omar is a sitting and an active Member of Parliament hence a state officer, and therefore ineligible to contest for the gubernatorial elections.
Hassan Omar represented himself in court, and told the judge that he does not understand why the petitioner chose him of all the 47 senators. IEBC through lawyer Lumatete Muchai argued that there are other avenues to hear the matter such as the political parties tribunal. The parties were directed to file their responses within 7 days. The case will be mentioned on August 15

The man popularly known as Mohammad 'Bobocha' was confronted by members of the public after allegedly being involved in a theft incident at Mkanyageni area. Residents say he stabbed and robbed a person off their belongings before taking off, but residents chased him and cornered him near the ocean.
Meanwhile, an elderly man suspected of harbouring criminals in old town area was arrested om Saturday evening. Mombasa Deputy County Commissioner Mahmoud Salim issued a stern warning that police would deal firmly with anyone engaging in criminal activities.

Drug addicts find solace at a health facility in Mombasa
The problem of drug abuse at the Coast continues to kill hundreds, while leaving thousands of youth addicted and wasting away. However, this narrative is slowly changing with the introduction of a treatment programme, dubbed the 'methadone programme.' The initiative by the county government Mombasa is helping the addicts turn a new leaf and change their lives for the better.
